  1. Oh look, Hurts doesn't think 4-7 seconds to drop back is a thing!
  2. Yup, even a great coach has a ceiling on what they can do.
  3. If Ben Johnson moves on, I bet we see how much he was propped up too.
  4. I'm going to plant my stake pretty hard on this prediction: Much like Cousins this year, Darnold is going to show in the years to come just how ridiculous it was that he won 14 games. Or that Cousins won 13 two years ago. KOC was single-handidly lifting mediocrity (or worse) to levels higher than it deserved. If JJ is more than mediocrity, your faith will be restored. It ain't the scheme or the play-caller - it's the QB. (That said, it's clear the team needs to invest into a better rushing attack, but I bet KOC would agree on that. The Wilf's mandate not to blow things up and rebuild has made this thing a piecemeal rebuild)
  5. Sean McVay gave up Goff and a crap ton of draft picks for Stafford. If it wasn't evident before: QBing matters. Goff got swallowed up by the moment, gave in to the pressure, and made a bunch of terrible throws. No coach and no game plan can account for what your QB decides to do on the field. Yes, Johnson called an absolutely terrible trick play that did major damage to the team, but Goff threw 4 picks, including a pick 6. The only coaching mistake I saw was thinking that an all-out blitz attack was going to be viable against Daniels. It only worked against Darnold because he completely lost his ability to use his brain and throw the ball. Daniels showed how you make quick decisions, step up in the pocket, and throw available routes underneath. Vikings need their Stafford/Allen/Daniels.
  6. Hey look! It IS legal to make an all out blitz defense pay! QBs who win in the playoffs have to beat pressure. Master class by Daniels while Goff looked terrible.
  7. Refs definitely making this harder on Houston.
  8. I'm sure the thousands of papers and books on economics have all been in total agreement. Totally tracks.
  9. I'm sure you do. Given how many economic theories and models there are, making sweeping, declarative statements backs that up.
  10. Economics is a far more complicated field than your comment indicates. Which, perhaps indicates, that your suggestion may be better directed inwards.
  11. You've allowed your political beliefs to swallow your morality entirely.
  12. I missed the part where you researched a rebuttal and presented it.
  13. I enjoyed it enough to read the rest after basically checking out of the Twins section of this site. Appreciate the work. Ignore our pearl clutching friends who think every comment is a political point they have to complain about.
  14. That's partly why I suggested Elijah Moore as well. I think a good slot player like that would be really smart. For the record....I'm not saying the Vikings should deal Addison, but I'd listen if I were them. You can farm receivers in the mid rounds. You know....if we ever keep our mid-rounds.
  15. I'm not concerned about Turner. The bend that guy showed off was stupid. But he's got to get stronger so he can rush and play from multiple spots. I hope they put a heavy muscle building routine on him. Florio seems like a guy who I respect less and less the more I hear from him. Not criticizing the article or the idea behind it....but it feels like flinging crap at the wall.
  16. Yes, I took them seriously as a good team, but not at the same level as Detroit, Buffalo, Baltimore, Philly, and KC. But I would never use blow outs or bad losses to make that determination. If I did, the list of teams that are actually Super Bowl contenders is only Detroit. If my criteria eliminates all but one team, then my criteria is probably broken.
  17. I don't see them paying both either and I definitely see "Free 3" making a stink. Make no mistake - I think he's really, really good. But if you're looking at players that could be traded to assemble more picks, I think that list starts with him. I don't know exactly what you get (Patriots deal 38, 69, and a future pick?) but I see why it might have appeal. Problem is that you have to replace him then. Elijah Moore, Josh Palmer, and Dyami Brown are younger FA receivers but no one that's as good as Addison unless you want to fish in the Tee Higgins waters.
  18. If his games are swapped for Plouffe, Vegas has this as the best move the Twins make all offseason set at -500.
  19. You probably could've had a good last paragraph, but putting Puka over JJ really discredits the rest you have to say. I've said all season, the NFL rarely has blowouts and that measure is an antiquated way of viewing the game. The Bills, as good as they look now, have had some really rough stretches. Some of the Ravens losses are preposterous. The Eagles looked terrible early. Teams go through stretches. I think this team played over their head. I'm on the record having never taken them seriously as a Super Bowl contender, but the reason here doesn't hold for me.
  20. One sleeper part of dealing Addison is that he may be looking at a 4 game suspension and, if you get the right deal, it might be worth it. As you said, unlikely though.
  21. There are a couple guys in that area, but the class is shallow. I don't see them dealing Hockenson for a 2nd either. I think the most likely outcome is an aggressive series of trading down. Something like going from 24 to 35-40 and in the process picking up 3-4 more picks. I don't really see anyone else that they'd get huge value for that would be a good idea to trade. Maybe Addison? But then you open up a glaring hole that needs to be filled.
  22. Our CB situation is pretty problematic and the DB class is strong. The interior DT class is strong too. I'm sorta wondering if we don't end up doing something kinda bonkers like trading Hockenson for a 1st. Or if we do franchise Darnold in hopes of extracting a 2nd round pick out of someone. Just to add another opportunity in a draft that is strong in areas we need.
  23. Guard is a weak point in this draft. OL in general. RB class is bonkers good though. If they take two I won't be disappointed.
  24. Yup. That the the situation was much closer to Dobbs than we thought. It definitely was a regular occurence to run the clock down. The quote in The Athletic shows KOC laying out the play pretty basically too. It's also possible that we would see much the same with McCarthy because it's just what KOC does. Or that he's just a long winded play caller that takes every second he has.
  25. I was listening to Purple Daily and I thought Zulgad made an interesting statement that might have gotten lost in this season and the catastrophic ending: We had a lot of delay of games or near penalties this year for the clock running down before the play got off. It sounds like there was some confirmation, due to media having access to KOC/Darnold communication, that those are happening because KOC was doing the same thing with Darnold that we saw him do with Dobbs in that Atlanta game. The insinuation was that this had been a year long feature that explains that tendency. Could be he's speculating, but that's not the way he came off. More of a "inside media circles" type of comment. FWIW.
