  1. I'm surprised we came up with even one "pro" to this idea.....
  2. If Albers stays in the rotation and Berrios goes to Rochester, we're all bound by integrity to just give up, disband, and join new message boards right?
  3. The man earned the contract he was given and he gets to collect. Pretty simple. I'm sure he'd prefer to be on the field earning it.
  4. I did the exact same thing. Trump is certainly making it hard to imagine he finishes this race. It's borderline sabotage.
  5. The guy was basically an iron man for years as a starter, we move him to the bullpen (with limited prep) and he's falling apart. Maybe it's time to undo the mistake we made in the middle there. You know, the one many of us hated from the get go.
  6. I can see that, I'm just not sure how robust the other options were. Having Suzuki and Murphy seemed like an acceptable gamble to me, relative to other options. Certainly the price for that gamble is one I'm on board with.
  7. We sold low (Hicks) and bought low (Murphy). It's not like it was a bad deal, we just didn't get lucky. We certainly didn't lose anything. Hicks is the hitless scrub many of us thought he was.
  8. Offseason target.
  9. Well, we make those sorts of judgments all the time. The real key is to accept what you are. Go ahead and judge me for being a comic book fan, I'm at peace with being a geek. A-rod may be at peace with being a giant d-bag. Good for him, he's still a d-bag.
  10. Where's that "who?" sounder when you need it?
  11. Hey, believe me, I hope that's how it plays out. I think a lot of the arguments on the left right now are failing to grasp the ol' Is/Ought fallacy. But I genuinely hope in the end that they're right, I just have serious doubts.
  12. The "I don't know anybody who is a Trump supporter" meme has been around for 6 months. And yet here we are...... Mike said it best, don't underestimate your fellow citizen.
  13. Nope, I hadn't seen that before. Thanks...by the way.
  14. The rest of America doesn't have to be equally insane. 43% of eligible Americans didn't vote in 2012, that's a huge number of untapped resources for a campaign. Will they come out? I don't know. But again, if I were applying rationality to these proceedings I would've never thought Trump would be at this stage either. And really, we're talking about enough first time voters in places like Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, and North Carolina to swing this election. The vast majority of us in the vast majority of states don't really matter. And the rust belt, at least hypothetically, might be a really appealing place for Trump's narrative.
  15. I think A-rod lost me with the Centaur mural over his bed thing....
  16. I think that's her name. She of the "cellphone tower ping" smoking gun fame. *#%^ show. That's what this second season is going to be. And some people will eat it up.
  17. I'm ready to lay them on the coaching staff - the minor league coaching staff. Molitor and Brunansky shouldn't have to be fixing Swing Issues 101. What the hell is the point of the minors if not to address issues exactly like that one? I know Bux is a good kid by all accounts, but does he maybe struggle to translate coaching to the field?
  18. Right, I scoffed at him the entire nomination process and look where we are. He consistently out-performed polling and consistently turned out huge vote totals. If I had to bet, I'd bet he loses the election. But I've long learned my lesson this year about betting on the election.
  19. And I'm absolutely positive Zellner won't try to turn this into her own 10 hour, over the top commercial......
  20. You don't think playing in front of tens of thousands of people, many of whom are watching your at-bats with extra scrutiny, isn't pressure? Especially compared to playing in some po-dunk AAA town where the best people can do most nights is check a box score? Look, the kid needs to make fundamental adjustments to his swing. I'd like him to do that where the only focus he has is that task. AAA seems better served for that function. I mean, hell, what are the minor league for if not to coach needs exactly like this? If it was as simple as some of you think to just adjust at the big league level, why would we ever put anyone in the minors for any length of time? I want him focused on his approach and his swing, not thinking about a major league slider or splitter or anything else. Let that come later when he has the basics fixed.
  21. Yay! Actual plot can be mixed in!
  22. Sure, but there is a tremendous overlap. The worry here is that a combination of this base, plus other similar voters who may not usually turn up are greater than the Democrat's turnout. My point is basically this - the base that is going to keep Trump close is more reliable than the base that Hillary is counting on. After that it's going to come down to how many of the Republicans that have fractured are going to despise Hillary enough to swallow their pride. What's really sad is that, somehow, the Democrats have been totally unable to reach a large group of people that should be on their side, but aren't. (Much like Republicans repeatedly screw up the Hispanic vote that should be theirs)
  23. It's not that he needs to face AAA pitching, it's that he needs to change his swing. It might be easier to do that when you take all the other pressures of the big leagues off of his shoulders.
  24. I wish his swing would've been shortned, I don't know, three years ago or so.....
