  1. Battle Your Tail Off. And I'm with you, I try to chime in over on the Vikings page and it just isn't worth it. Mostly it's a bunch of reposted Twitter comments and I just lose interest.
  2. The Viking and Wild forums are struggling for exactly this reason. I don't acknowledge soccer as a thing and it looks like the forum might have stopped doing so as well.
  3. At this point...what else we got? At least the pot shots might be clever, beats watching the baseball games...
  4. In fairness, it'd help if they looked like they had a coherent plan more often. It's easy to jump to "what the hell?" when that appears to have been our guiding theme to this season.
  5. I'd like it, but the offshoots of this haven't exactly taken off as fan forums. (No criticism intended, just an observation)
  6. Right, the problem is doing it now seems like they are giving credence to the criticisms.
  7. I found this. It seems the foundation was taking donations and they sometimes overlapped in suspicious ways with state dealings. But it could just be coincidence. I mean, I guess if the sum total of these investigations is that the Clintons are about as "politiciany" as politicians get I'd have to sound the "alert the presses" thing.....
  8. Well that article is just outstanding. Thank you for the read.
  9. Any major league experimenting should be done extremely carefully and avoided whenever possible. That would be my general response.
  10. I've seen people wear hats and not be criticized, much less where they put their hand.
  11. Yup. So it's really not that dissimilar to the Minnesota Vikings lining up to play Eden Prairie tomorrow and calling it a true athletic competition. That's what the Olympics have become in most of the prominent sports.
  12. I would offer up Gabby Douglas as basically a counter argument I can just say and drop the mike on. I mean, we made a controversy about how she stood during our national anthem for pete's sake.
  13. The time to teach flexibility is in Chattanooga or lower. Not at Target Field.
  14. I hope that was the point. If we're going to put Maddon on a pedestal about this stuff, we should probably at least point this catastrophe out as well.
  15. The problem with this "flexibility" argument is that you need players that can actually do it. For the major league minimum I'll flexibly play all 8 defensive positions, start, relieve, spit shine cleats, and even do the laundry. If flexibility, as is being talked about here, is in and of itself a good thing - then I need to be hired immediately. Or....perhaps....our definition of "flexibility" needs some refinement.
  16. I kinda wish it was measured that way. Or by percentage of athletes to win a medal or something else. But if it was simply based on population we wouldn't win either. This is a money thing. Which is maybe what the Olympics is most about.
  17. I'm not saying they need to adjust to appeal to Americans, but maybe adjust so that it isn't basically us steam rolling everyone because of our advantage in money and numbers. Hell, I'd argue much of the framework of the Olympics, as designed by the Olympics, is done to appease America. That's part of the problem.
  18. Playing elite defense at 1B doesn't enamor me enough to wedge a 33 year old into that position come hell or high water. I don't want him benched either, but for god's sake let's un-entrench him from playing every day.
  19. 6th graders might really love getting owned by the dream team in a game too. Doesn't make it a compelling athletic competition. This is a whole lot of macho nationalism in which wealth generally decides outcomes but for exceptions to the rule.
  20. If the Twins marched out Vargas at 1B and Sano at DH the rest of the season I'd hold up bunny ears for reception to tune in. Mauer does nothing for me. I've seen his schtick. I know it has no upside for this team's next hopeful window of contention. Seeing him reminds me of nothing but continued failures and misplaced sentiments. That's unfair to Mauer, he's fine, but nevertheless he continues to be an obstacle rather than an asset.
  21. Dozier and Plouffe better be enjoying spring training with other clubs.
  22. I'm happy to say I saw less than 5 minutes of anything these Olympics had to offer. Other than Table Tennis, I don't feel like I missed a thing. Time to scrap this mess or radically rethink it.
  23. None of us know what will become of Vargas, but I can guarantee this: if we play him every fourth day in favor of Mauer we are willingly sacrificing the opportunity and chance at helping the future each and every time we do it. We can play him and find we have a gem or a dud or we can not play him and never know. The kid needs to be in the lineup every freaking day of September.
  24. I really hope we see a lot of changes when the new GM takes over. this one included.
  25. Can we please just see this lineup all of September: 2B Dozier SS Polanco 1B Mauer 3B Sano RF Kepler DH Vargas CF Rosario LF Grossman C Whoever And if you want to wedge in Buxton, fine. Just take out Grossman. Either way, freaking play Vargas. Every damn day.
