And owners soak us tax-payers to fund their money making operation, sell us on promises, and then go back on them. They up our ticket prices, concession prices, and profit at enormous levels on media deals. I won't, and can't, side with them. At least the players are only indirectly soaking us. The owners are extorting us and using our money to turn enormous profits. Screw those guys.

Nothing. There are no "good guys" in this labor fight. So you have to pick the best of what you're left with. And it ain't the owners.

To add to this, players are under significant pressure from each other to maximize value to help the next guy up. Many of these guys view these contracts as wins for all players, so taking less money is viewed as a win for ownership. So I too think the criticism about choosing the Padres as a non-winner is way overstated. And, frankly, unfair.

Do they mean the nomination or the Presidency? I would say he has the inside track on the nomination given the current field for the very reasons you lay out. The Presidency? I question how he reverses any of the outcomes that Hillary produced.

You are largely ignoring and side-stepping Mike's point. The Twins did not get 20 WAR from any combination of 8 guys last year. They got 14 from their best 8. The problem with your entire post is that it's ridiculously unfair. You're not even attempting something approaching an objective, fair analysis. You assume the worst about the Padre situation with Machado and potential for injury and assume the best for the Twins. Statistically speaking, there is no merit to the idea the Twins are sitting on 20 WAR with any combination of players but for best case scenario. The issue with not having superstars is it requires many players to simultaneously have kick-ass seasons. Sure, that can happen. It's also unlikely. When you plug a consistent force into your lineup, it reduces the risk you face when other players struggle and increases your upside if those players succeed. There are reasons to be a skeptic about a deal like this, but you did not lay out a fair, and thus, a not at all convincing case.

Which one did you switch from? I had centurylink manage to mess up two requests of mine in such ridiculous ways they'll never get my business again. And both were to stay as a customer! I asked to move my services and upgrade my services and both times they shut me off at 5:50pm, closed at 6:00, and then said "whoops" and took a week to rectify their stupidity. Seriously....shut me off the night I called to prearrange services for a move and then couldn't fix their own gaffe in a timely manner. (And required me to call about a dozen times)

I've often heard that, but we know victims come forward at a very small rate relative to the number of victims there actually are. I go back and forth on that idea. Incidents like this make me really want that punishment....but then you hear about the struggles rape victims face and I go the other way. Either way, this dude just destroyed his career.

Following this team my entire life leads me to believe that a move to the bullpen is probably permanent. And I don't like that. We could've solved our pen issues with the ample money we have available and left this promising kid in a starting spot. If we want him, Mejia, or Gonsalves starting I don't care which of the scrubs like Perez or Odorrizzi we have to bump.

Well, we thought that last year too. Yes, there was an injury, but he looked lost all spring and the handful of at-bats before the injury. I too hope that the service time manipulation serves as a motivator. I'm not sure that helps him hit (read: avoid like the plague) breaking balls, but I'll sure as hell be hopeful about it.

And now those two men are innocent of assault and Smollett was an "active participant". False victimhood has been around for awhile, but social media is gas on that fire. This was outrageous and an insult to real victims.

Kepler's Unusual Contract

Yeah, my skepticism only kicks in when people try to make the contract too valuable right now and going forward. I think it can be a great value if Kepler starts to hit, but the current Kepler isn't particularly valuable at this price going forward. But a handful of million should absolutely do nothing to impede spending. That impediment starts with a P and ends with Ohlads.
