  1. I'm glad they won because not scoring in the 7th was hard to watch. What the hell was that route by Buxton? That was a hard, but not impossible catch.
  2. Vanimal might be anti-Bernie, but most people are just looking at the map wondering how he changes Clinton's results. I simply don't see how he does without a dramatic change in his voting bloc. Plus, I think Bernie looks poorly on a debate stage with Trump. Bernie looked like the passionate, fresh candidate because it was Hillary Clinton. When you've got two angry old white dudes on a debate stage, I'm sad to say, Trump will come off as the more personable one. And that will work against Bernie in areas of the country that he needs to flip.
  3. Right, not a good call. But Rocco is new and this is something he hopefully learns from. Managers get to do that too,
  4. What this guy said. I use only Facebook because I've lived in many places and have spread out friends and family to stay connected with. Twitter? Useless drivel machine. Hell, it's very nature is designed to limit thoughtful comments.
  5. It think that stuff will be weaponized against Biden, fair or not, and he's all but toast. All things considered I think he had one of the better chances against Trump. Now the field is pretty open IMO. What's your opposition to Bernie? Just curious.
  6. That is good news, it implies the 2018 results could be carried forward but for a Democrat screw-up.
  7. These numbers are fun enough for another thread!
  8. Obviously there were problems. I'm a firm believe that economics are about balance and we probably were out of balance in the Carter years, being too far to one end of the spectrum. However, I do believe Reagan helped shift policy very hard to the right and people since him have doubled down further and further. I think Reagan gets too much flak from some (and FAR too much fealty by others), but his term was definitely a turning point. Our government has slowly become more and more subservient to big donors and corporations and less attuned to the needs of the everyday citizens. I think, largely, that's been bad for America. The left owns some of the mistakes too, the Great Society has wrought a lot of hardship for our society too. Either way, this probably belongs more in the general politics thread and less in this one. We should be talking here about the plight many of our non-white brothers and sisters face in society and how to make the American dream more real for all people, regardless of their identities.
  9. Nope, . The tracker I was watching showed pitch 4 was outside and in the dirt. So I've learned no to take that tracker seriously!
  10. Was Rosario's at-bat when he had the 3-0 count as bad as it looked on Gameday?
  11. When did Odo become this strikeout machine?
  12. I can understand that. For the record, my issues with criminal justice run much deeper than this case. But this is too Chicago-y, maybe the not the feds but there should be some recourse. The grand jury on this case was pretty clear, to end like this is not ok. And his legal team's smug public demeanor only makes me more upset.
  13. I hope this case gets blown up. The after-the-fact interviews with the lawyer have me wanting Smollet put on a witness stand in a court room. I could have accepted a guilty plea and a chance to make amends. Now I want this toolbag and his terrible lies punished furtheror exposed with evidence. He doesn't get to hide from this act for ten grand and then flaunt publicly. Feds had reason to look into his phony letter, time to let them look at that and prosecutorial malfeasance.
  14. Yup. Let's focus on that.
  15. He may be best as a top backup. He was hurt last year so I'm not sure if he's the 2017 or 2018 version. His weaknesses are best hidden at center, however. So if we do draft Bradburry (who I also like), it may hurt Elflein's play to move him to guard. I think I'd rather have Dillard if he's there. Or Ford. Pick a guy that can play guard or tackle. But I totally see your side of wanting Bradburry.
  16. Anything in particular you like about him? I wonder....can Elflein hold up at guard?
  17. The whole college system is broken. I can't think of any component of it in today's world that doesn't suck terribly and need to change. From frats, to exams, to tuition, to sports corruption, poor academics, free speech, etc. Broken. All of it.
  18. I think you said it best, if it's not a crime that will result in legal proceedings....people don't care. Even then they may not care! Corrupt politicians stay in office all the time. Pedophiles nearly get elected in this day and age. If this report is anything short of explosive, damning evidence of a crime (and by Mueller's quote...it's hard to believe that's the case)....Hosken's analogy is perfectly on point. It's a dog chasing a car. It's a fruitless, waste of time to keep banging the corruption/collusion drum. Use it to pound Russian interference or the other practical matters we need for our country? Hell yeah! Running after Trump? Totally misguided. That's more about emotion and personal contempt for Trump than good sense.
  19. If you say so. That sure isn't what you've said here or the like button you've used. I'm telling people to move on because a qualified, decorated member of our government spent two years investigating. Barr may have plenty of motivation to handle this like a tool, but he quoted directly from Mueller that the evidence he gathered did not indicate any crime was committed. Unless you think he deliberately misquoted Mueller, the conclusion we have is from Mueller, not Barr. On obstruction....we can wait and see, but I don't see that getting very far. And since I don't think Democrats can walk and chew gum at the same time, I'd rather they give up on dead ends and focus on meaningful things they can do. Like shut Russia down. And beat Trump in a year and a half. This is a dead end. And you only look more foolish every day you don't accept that. Or I guess this can be the left's Benghazi or some other similar claptrap. Either way, stop the charade. You know full well this was always about getting Trump out. This whole line of argument from you the last two pages is disingenuous or silly.
  20. One could ask you the same question. You just have one hell of a lot less basis for your stance. If Mueller had concluded that Trump colluded....we'd be in a full blown state of Constitutional crisis. We're not. There is only one rational conclusion to draw.
  21. Of course there were results. But there were not results on impeachment or collusion. it's strange to me that some here are on one hand arguing that collusion and impeachment was never the goal and then simultaneously citing Adam Schiff saying he'll still pursue the collusion angle even after the report. You don't get to have your cake and eat it too. The special counsel was convened to look into Russian interference and potential ties to Donald Trump's campaign. It then expanded to include obstruction after the Comey firing. It resulted in many charges against members of Trump's campaign for a variety of illegal acts but, so far as we know, did not conclude there was collusion. It punted on obstruction but gave evidence both ways. The left wanted this to be Trump's undoing, which only was going to happen if he was found to have colluded or obstructed. The right wanted this to be a witch hunt about collusion. Now every schmo in those camps has stayed in their camp with their fingers in their ears yelling the same things they did before the report concluded. If you're in those camps - get serious. You're being silly. This report did have real results and Trump was associated with some real shady folks and was probably shady himself. It also did not conclude that there was conclusion. Accept it. Move on.
  22. I disagree. Collusion is an action you can find evidence for. Intent is something you have to prove only indirectly. It's one of the hardest things for any prosecutor to establish. You have to convince people of what you believe was in someone's mind at the time of the act. This should be a non-controversial thing - intent is hard as hell to establish.
  23. Sure, that could be the motive....but that's not the standard. I'm not saying you can't make a case for obstruction, just that it's hard as hell. Many legal experts suggested it was going to be a difficult case to make from the outset.
  24. It requires proving corrupt intent. That was never going to be easy to do, mostly because he can say "Nope, fired Comey for not approving of his job performance". And it'll be very tricky, without something pretty damn concrete, to undermine that. You can find all the reasonable theories you want about why he did it. They may even actually be true. But that's not the same as proving corrupt intent.
