  1. I actually have a couple wagers on the Eagles collapsing this year, so I'm with you there. I just think Dallas fills that void. Giants future looks bright though if they can stay healthy.
  2. Honestly....why is this so difficult for Minnesota fans in general? It probably explains why every potluck has generic, bland hotdishes and nothing that is spicy. (Read: contains minor particles of pepper) We gotta stop letting that terrorism win.
  3. 2027 should be the year the team lets the kids play. Rojas-Bradley-Zebby-Prielipp-Abel in the rotation Keaschall (1B)-Jenkins (RF)-Buxton (CF)-Jeffers on a QO (C)- Erod (LF) - Lee (3B ) Culpepper (SS) Gonzalez/Roden/Buxton/Royce/Mendez (DH)- go find a 2B who can field. Worst case you go Clemons but I'd prefer some guy similar to our Royce Lewis but with a glove who can play MIF. Try to buy low.
  4. I nearly picked the Chargers to win the west. Giants love is a bold take!
  5. 100%. He should've been dealt last year. We'd be planning next year with Tolle and Arias in house if we had. Possibly even a better deal.
  6. I think the Bears defense is every bit as bad as their offense is good. They have no pass rush and a garbage secondary. I'll be wagering on a lot of overs this year for that team. They'll have that same bounce-back luck on turnovers we had a handful of years ago. You just can't bank on that kind of good fortune to make up for a lack of talent.
  7. The Rays should also be on the lookout for regression. However, it should be pointed out that the players leading the Rays with RISP are Aranda (hitting .280), Diaz (hitting .306), Chandler (hitting .307), and their fifth best is Junior Camerino. In other words....their best players are leading that charge. They're out-hitting their averages and should be on alert for regression, but these are good, established players with high batting averages in general. They don't have general regression to look out for in addition to their specific regression with RISP. Put simply: Kody Clemens, Tristan Gray, Victor Caratini, and Trevor Larnach they are not. (Guys who were driving the early RISP) Not all regression is baked the same way, though the Rays should be on alert for it. Also, widening the picture out, the Twins have still scored more runs than the Rays despite a lower OPS, batting average, OBP, 60 less stolen bases, and only a slight (.407 to .405) advantage in slugging. Which means it's not only the RISP number it's also just really good luck with sequencing as well. (which I've mentioned other places) The RISP gets the biggest finger point because this group of players just had no chance of maintaining that number.
  8. I'm also not trying to credit him. At this point he's a non-factor in the current predicament IMO.
  9. Maybe we'll find out some day! I don't think your stance is unreasonable and it's impossible to know. Ultimately, we'll have to see how this pans out.
  10. Both the NFC and AFC South are embarrassments to football. So yeah...I think the Saints get out-sucked by their division mates.
  11. NFC: West: Rams East: Cowboys North: Lions South: Saints WC Vikings WC Seahawks WC Bears AFC: East: Bills West: Broncos South: Texans North: Bengals WC: Chargers WC: Ravens WC Chiefs Bills over Rams in the Super Bowl
  12. I don't believe Zoll is the one to point the finger at. The time honored tradition is for our GMs to fall on the sword and say it was them, but time and time again we find out the real culprits are the owners. It's been this way since at least Ryan if not further back.
  13. It's pretty ****** for the Wolves right now for a test case on this. Wild have similar issues. Baseball, much to it's benefit and loss, has committed to being a regional game driven by regional investment. They might as well double down at this point.
  14. I stand by that this team could have gotten Hess and Beck from them. Which is likely better than the comp pick in valuation. Both guys that profile as potential impact reliever converts in the near future. You know....things we could really use.
  15. Yup, I could give two craps about the prospects we moved to buy at the deadline. I care MUCH more about the wasted opportunity to add with players we won't have on the roster in the very near future. We've done this before with Kepler, Polanco, and a host of others. One thing that was good about last year's deadline was that we were actually assertive in selling off pieces at peak value during a wasted season. (Other than Varland) Then we turn around this year and watch value wither on the vine in the name of the third wild card for a team that can't even play .500 ball. It was so obviously dumb. No hindsight needed.
  16. I appreciate the hope you had....but it was a false hope. Staring at the wild-card standings so you don't have to look at all the problems with the team confused a lot of people, including ownership. That confusion cost us real long-term value that might be the difference in 2 to 5 years if this next young core is legit. You can't run tight margins AND make asinine decisions about value on a consistent basis and expect to get it right.
  17. This was the price of the deadline gamble so many here cheered for. I agree that any goodwill that effort supposedly generated is gone and then some if he walks for nothing. This reality wasn't hard to see coming though and instead of a sound baseball decision we bet Ryan Jeffers value on this team we look at today.
  18. What paid the bills was a preposterous performance with runners in scoring position that even the '27 Yankees wasn't going to maintain. That, coupled with a bad AL, convinced us to pull the rip chord on a rebuild that really just needed one more offseason (deal Ryan and Lopez) and one more deadline (deal Larnach and Jeffers) to put us in the best position possible with the next young core. Then we see if they have the right stuff to contend over the next few years. Instead....we believed in a lie. It's not a random dip or a roller coaster, it was a perfectly predictable slide back to reality.
  19. The only thing that this team is consistently going "all out" for is the franchise valuation in a sale. Everything they do is driven by optics and balance sheets and not by smart baseball people making smart baseball decisions. I don't understand why we want to keep handing out participation trophies and warm hugs for this leadership group slapping two relievers on a team that couldn't play .500 ball and had every alarm blinking "code red" about their likely regression. Our desperation is showing when we keep emphasizing our feels in place of emphasizing sound planning and systems.
  20. Neutral is about right. Rather than commit to a strategy the Twins keep throwing the car from reverse to neutral to drive without any real sense of a plan. The best part? All while the car is moving. It's working exactly like that strategy would work if you did that with your actual car.
  21. They certainly left it open to that interpretation by not saying anything for weeks.
  22. That's awesome...but he definitely did not come back full speed/full Hitman at the start of last year.
  23. Yeah, especially with two division games right out of the gate. He took awhile to get up to speed last year and now he's one year older. Happy to have the QB on defense back, but wish he'd have come back after the last preseason game and worked himself into shape with the team.
