  1. Why do we want to be like Tampa Bay? What have they ever won? The goal is not to spend the least amount of dollars per win; the goal is to spend as much as is necessary for the most wins and the FINAL win.
  2. We may be able to hold an occasional lead in the postseason now, but will we ever get one with this starting rotation?
  3. For all the people (not saying your Danny SD) that love FIP as the end all be all stat for pitchers, why the Minor love? I would be very wary of a guy with limited history of success. Then again, I've always been a "Go big or go home" kind of guy.
  4. The good thing is the Yankees are very rarely talking about adding Sergio Romo, Kevin Jepsen, or Matt Capps.
  5. I have been predicting Romo for two months now so that would make me cynically ecstatic.
  6. They followed those comments up by signing everyone to a one year contract.
  7. This is the one I've been expecting. And Ryan Madson. It certainly won't be a difference maker.
  8. It's going to be difficult to improve the bullpen, yet a guy capable of throwing together a 5.00 ERA would do it! That is the riddle, known as the Twins bullpen.
  9. What is mind boggling to me is they basically admitted their bullpen was garbage last year when they went out and signed Rodney, Reed, and Duke. Then they turn around and get rid of all three of them AND Pressley and somehow think this year's bullpen is going to be good?
  10. My dream is for his first start to be against the White Sox and give up a home run to Tim Anderson and then let him get three more starts against Chicago.
  11. In what world is Bumgarner a 3 or 4? His ERAs the last three seasons are 3.32, 3.26, and 3.87. Even his FIPs are below 4.00.
  12. One of my favorite Ryan quotes (among many), when the Twins were muddling along playing about .550 ball: "How would fans have felt if we had traded Baker and Span for a big name in 2006? They wouldn't be too happy." I would have loved for them to have traded those two (and whoever) for a legitimate star player instead of getting Phil Nevin off the scrap heap and still having him as backup DH to Tyner.
  13. There has never been a prospect I wouldn't trade for an established star player when my team has a chance to win. Edit: A Twins prospect.
  14. I bet they'd sell out every game if all the tickets were that cheap.
  15. I also have to assume that the dollar hotdogs are just awful on par with the KC dollar hotdogs that a dog wouldn't touch. But that is purely an assumption as I don't typically eat at the ballpark.
  16. St. Peter is absolutely clueless on what fans want.
  17. I feel like the Metrodome attracted Twins fans and Target Field still brings out people who want to say they went there or want a non-baseball experience. And that really annoys me.
  18. If you are going to go with a horse **** rotation and try the "opener" you damn well better have a lights out bullpen. We have neither.
  19. There is no way he was worth any of that? 21 million? Come on, what was Yelich worth? 8 trillion? Using whatever formula that is every single player including Bobby Bonilla is underpaid in today's game.
  20. If there weren't a dozen holes on this team no one would care but they need to improve every pitching staff spot with the exception of Berrios. There is no way to be competitive with this god awful pitching staff.
  21. Boomstick! For the record I don't think Cruz will be blocking anyone that we actually would want to see more ABs from. I don't actually expect him to be around past July but at least he is a legitimate player that teams may actually want to trade for come the deadline.
  22. In contrast, if the league had used the two division per league format during these years the Twins would have played in a Game 163 in 2004 and won the division outright in 2006 and 2010. It is very sad that these are the so-called glory days of this franchise. Particularly the 2002-2004 Twins were fun to watch and 2006 is the great "what could have been" year but this franchise did absolutely nothing in-season to try and improve the team when Ryan was in charge. Their best moves were dropping the dead weight that Ryan insisted on dumping on the team year after year. Bill Smith actually improved his teams in-season but the rest of his moves were criminal. I actually appreciate these teams less the further in the review they get as it's just annoying how poorly they were constructed.
  23. Get out of the damn dumpster. These two won't help the Twins this year and they won't bring anything worthwhile back in trades. Please, Please, PLEASE change your entire mindset as a front office.
  24. JFC, by the time they figure out what to do Buxton, Sano, Rosario, and Berrios will be hitting free agency.
