If the twins were close to being a legitimate contender I'd do the first trade every single time. But since the twins are mediocre at best there's no point in getting Goldschmidt to make us an 85 win team instead of 81. It's the same as the Gray trade. Doesn't move the needle enough to be worth it.
True story. Terry Ryan spoke at a banquet prior to the high school baseball tournament which was right before the draft and had a Q&A session. I had read rumors that we were interested in Tyler Jay. I pleaded with him not to draft him. He drafted him. It's all his fault.
Is it too much to ask to get some guys who can hit the ball? I don't enjoy watching 16k games if we hit six home runs. I certainly don't enjoy 16 k with one hit. I wonder what it would be like to have a guy like arraez. Nevermind.
Because we are terrified of letting a starting pitcher go into the eighth inning regardless of his pitch count we are going to end up using three relievers tonight.
If Ryan was throwing a no hitter he'd be out of there already but since he's getting lit up they leave him out there for the same amount of pitches every outing. How about an early hook when he doesn't have it and a slow hook when he does?
Why should the expectations affect the grade? If I'm a math teacher and expect one student to fail and he does fail I'm not giving him a C because he met my expectations.
