  1. Just 18 pitchers last night though after a day off. He threw 20 pitchers Wed after 21 Tue. This sounds more like a case of bruised ego (day-to-day.)
  2. 5.14 ERA, 6.13 FIP and 1.43 WHIP Tonkin's numbers this season. Does that look like someone who pitched well enough to deserve a job in the the majors playing for a division leader? Nope. (Stauffer hasn't either, but that is another story.) Not a Fien fan by any means, but even him was better than Tonkin...
  3. Non-issue 5.56 ERA, 22.2 IP, 9 BB, 14 K, 1.324 WHIP Santana's career post-season line. Also, who do you take off the starting rotation to plug in Santana? If you look at FIP and WAR the worst Twins' starter right now is Hughes. Would you move Hughes to the pen for Santana? Nope. Santana made his bed and he should sleep in it. Unless something drastically changes, he looks good as the long man off the pen right now... Yes the steroids rules hurt the teams. There should be a rule allowing teams to void the users' contract. The Union has been vocal against steroid users because they feel that it hurts legitimate players (and it does.) Let them put their $ where their mouths are...
  4. Move him to Rochester and have him play 2B, SS and OF so he can be a utility player come next year...
  5. Not sure that it is Neil Allen per se, or the departure of Anderson...
  6. Wrong ranking Polanco has an 100% probability of making the majors. He already did.
  7. I don't get the luck of love for Michael. Has anyone looked what he has been doing the past 2 years, after he switched to 2B from SS? .862 OPS in Chattanooga after .803 OPS in New Britain for a middle infielder, is not negligible. Steve Tolleson made the majors (and he is a pretty good comparable for Michael's floor.) I see no way other than injury that Michael does not make it.
  8. Deserve? Here are the ranking of the Twins' regulars among their AL peers in their positions by fWAR (I am not including OFs, SP and RP ranked higher than 30th) C: Suzuki (11th) 1B: Mauer (16th) 2B: Dozier (4th) SS: Santana (14th) 3B: Plouffe (5th) OF: Hunter (15th), Robinson (24th) DH: Vargas (17th) Starters: May (16th), Nolasco (27th) Relievers: Perkins (3rd), Thompson (21st), Boyer (24th) Only one deserves it
  9. Nope. Fire Ryan who hired him over Molitor in '01...
  10. Rockies prospect. Was scratching my head try to figure out who he was Hope the kid is ok
  11. Yep It is pretty good evidence that the GardyNAndy regime are the major culprits for the Twins being losers for a while (since nothing much else changed from last year.) Which makes me think, what if Ryan chose Molitor over Gardenhire to replace Kelly the same off-season he chose LeCroy over Ortiz... Maybe there would had been some parades Oh well... Let's enjoy what we are having, but let's do some root cause analysis here and start holding people accountable.
  12. He really is fine where he is. In some respect, there are likely better hitters in the SL than the IL (with those AAAA types) and I trust the Twins' coaching staff at AA more than at AAA, based on Meyers performance (among other indicators,) for one.
  13. The Dodgers are on a win-now mode. Have you seen the carcasses they are spotting as their starting third baseman and in the back 2 spots of the rotation? Nolasco and Plouffe will worth the investment for them. Lots of unbalanced (high end prospects for solid veterans in the deadline.) Yes, the kid is insane (and a lefty,) that's why the Twins should go after him. Throw in Berrios too
  14. What to do with Plouffe? Trade him and Nolasco to the Dodgers for Julio Urias come the deadline. Throw in Kohl Stewart if you have to make it happen. That's what to do.
  15. The '91 Twins were 8 games ahead of the second team on September 1st. If that is the case with the '15 Twins, I do not mind if they call (and sign) Toby Gardenhire and Trey Vavra up come September. If it is not...
  16. I don't. Winning teams do not bring up scrubs to bring up scrubs. The days of Dinkelmans, Tolberts, Watkinses etc taking MLB PAs (instead of the likes of, lets say, Sano, Buxton, Kepler, Polanco) should stop for this team to win. Been a while.
  17. I think that possibility number 6 is the most logical one: What is the single biggest difference between last season and this season as far as personnel goes (no Hunter over Willingham is not it) ? Makes the ones of us who were calling (for a while) for Gardenhire and Anderson (& Co) to be fired, pretty vindicated.
  18. Career high .522 BABIP (with his norm being around .310) and 39.2% O-Swing (about 10 points higher than previous years,) will crash-land this one when it regresses...
  19. One of the three pitchers mentioned does not belong in this grouping...
  20. I like Gibson, but please, let's not talk about him being an ace or an "all star" based on ERA and W-Ls Matter of fact, Gibson's FIP, xFIP, SIERA, K% this season is worse than last season. Was he an "ace" or "an all star" pitcher last season? If not, then he is not this season The way that Gibson is pitching is the way a solid number 3 or number 4 pitcher should be pitching in a contender. But the Twins forgot what a contender is, and if I am not mistaken, more than one media outlets even called Diamond an 'ace'. In that comparison, Gibson wins, but an ace he is not.
  21. Can Fien, Milone, Thielbar, Fryer bring anything in a trade from a contending team? If a contender does not want them, the Twins should not either. They are not part of the today and they are not part of the future. If someone bites, the Twins should trade them. Add Schafer to that equation as well...
  22. I mean Molitor's position when he was Hunter's age...
  23. He should be using Hunter at his (Molitor's) old position then...
  24. Short-sighted move. You just cannot move your best starting prospect (and the only one with top of the rotation potential) to the pen because of a mechanical flaw (or two) that has him off the strike zone slightly more than last season. You get him coaching. And if a coach does not work, you get through coaches, until you find one who will make it work. Removing Marty Mason would had been a better step... And the kicker is that Meyer is not pitching that much different than last season. His FIP is 3.76 vs 3.66 last season, K% is down 22% from 27.1% and BB% is slightly up 12.9% from 11.3%. His BABIP (.419) is what kills him, and if the Twins had any sense, they would realize that the scrubs du jour like Brock Peterson, Argenis Diaz and Jose Martinez who are playing the IF are hurting the team. Really disappointed by that move. Major housecleaning in the Front Office is needed.
  25. He was released before the season started, but until the end of ST, it was Will Hurt. Now, has to be this gentleman: http://mlb.mlb.com/assets/images/2/9/4/79280294/cuts/Farfan1280_l1z1n08b_vnzzj16z.jpg Onas Farfan
