  1. Oswalt for sure declined a $10M 1yr offer from the Tigers (before they signed Fielder.) He has also declined offers at least from the Pirates and Red Sox. It is clear that he wants to play close to home in S. Mo, which makes it either Rangers or Cardinals. After the Rangers trade Koji Uehara, they will have the room and the $ to give him like a $7-8M contract. So I see him going there sometime this week. The thing that it is important to know is that Oswalt does not have to work for a living for the rest of his life, so he can be picky or retire. On the other hand, this says that he is not been bitten by the bug still, so there is not much fire for playing ball any more... so caveat emptor as far as Oswalt is concerned.
  2. Completely agree, but Mr Gardenhire does not see it that way.
  3. Late March but not sure of the dates yet.
  4. I think that Nishoka will have to prove himself in ST and the Twins need to find a way to help him gain his confidence back. He was terrible last season, but had a brocken leg a week into the season and switched positions. He also had a 9 game hitting streak in early August. It might actually help him to start in Rochester for a month or so and get his act together there... I seriously see him competing for the last bench position with players like Mastroianni (Hughes, Plouffe and a C are locks in my mind)
  5. Given the premise (jumping up prospect rankings), I'd say Dan Osterbrock, who has always been spot-on with control but has been hurt last season. I think that he will probably start at NB and have a stellar season. Carlos Gutierrez as well; I hope that his cutter develops into an out pitch. I expect him to be the closer in Rochester and maybe get more than a cup of coffee in the bigs.
  6. Good stuff guys, wishing you tons of success!
