1. You can pencil in Travis Harrison in 1B and they already have Levi Michael at SS. They do need pitchers and power pitchers. Boyd is a dark horse in the organization who still hasn't thrown a pitch because he signed late; lets see how he does this season, but he might be fast-tracked.
2. Agreed. Butera does not belong to the majors. They should have 2 catchers and if they lose the DH late in games, they can PH for the pitcher if his position comes up. This beats having Butera in case for emergency. What La Velle did not mention in his article, is that Willingham got to the majors with the Marlins as a catcher and cought sporadically up to the 2006 season. Here is your emergency catcher for a day if an injury happens until you can get one from Rochester the next day... I would not be surprised if Willingham gets the catching gear on a bit this Spring...
3. Yes they did. They are changing the guidelines... I suspect that a press release will be issued within a couple of days.
4. Agreed. But for the ones who are exonerating Braun today, they have to remember that Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire, Sammy Sosa, Roger Clemens (and a few more) have never tested positive for anything...
5. The MLB did not leak it officially... a person working for the MLB leaked it. I suspect that this person is no longer working with the MLB.
6. and the MLB does not like the outcome. The vote was 2-1. What a travesty! And the reason that he won was on a technicality. He claimed that the sample was left unattended for 2 days and could had been tampered with... if the glove doesn't fit...
7. That's up there with Onterrio Smith and the "Original Wizzinator"
8. Giolioto is number one in my book. This kid can be MLB-ready in 1-2 years. One of the best high school pitching prospects this millennium
9. "Pitcher's Fielding Practice"
10. and Drew is a career .178 hitter over 409 PAs with .481 career OPS; Towles' career OPS is .583 and Marquis' .499 BTW

11. I think that Mauer will play with a huge chip on his shoulder this season. I say 20
12. If he is with the team, Terry Doyle. He pitched more than 200 innings last season. Duensing is too bad against RH and too valuable as a LOOGY
13. Baseball Reference has all that stuff so it will be easy to do. Here is the 1987 link, one just has to add and move up year by year. I would do it, but just not much time now
14. cross-posted from The Tenth Inning Stretch The Tampa Bays Rays have announced that they will give away The Don Zimmer Bear, a bear with the face of Don Zimmer. The mania of putting a chubby manager's face of a teddy bear and giving it away to kids in the ballpark has been virally spreading across the league. The Twins today announced that they will join in the mania give away a Gardy Bear to the first 5,000 children on Friday April 13, when the Twins play against the Rangers at Target field. We have secured an exclusive picture of the Gardy Bear: To see the exclusive picture, please visit the original article here.

16. If both Nishioka and Hughes are not on the 25-man roster, the Twins need middle infielders so Dozier, Chang, Florimon should be in the list. At least one of them will be in the majors as the bench middle infielder
17. I think that it makes sense to separate the players (or indicate some way) that the Twins did not sign... I would also judge a draft by who they signed not only who they drafted...
18. I do the same thing, but only with Jerseys. I watch the Twins games on MLB.tv usually and don't wear ballcaps indoors
19. Other than the fact that the Indians now have the best starter in the division , I do not think that they will do much other than fight with the Royals and the White Sox for the last 3 positions in the Divisions. I seriously think that the Twins will challenge Detroit.
20. The Natural as far as serious movies go, but I loved Major League as well
21. Minor league "Camp" is well underway as well now. Lots of minor league players have been reporting. In the second week of March they will start playing games and they will start practices at the practice fields way before that... So you will see them all
22. Whatever everyone else said Been using it for years and very happy. A couple of other features of note: All games are "taped" so you can watch a day game in the evening (including the blacked out games). And you can do PIP and watch up to 4 games at the same time with the sound only on one. Also, you automatically get gameday with audio as well...
23. Agree about the guess part, where I somewhat disagree with most people's ranking of Rosario, is that they are thinking of him as an OF. Think of him as a second baseman and the only comparable who comes to mind is Robinson Cano. Slugging OF prospects are many, but slugging MIF prospects are not so many, so his stock rises, just by the position relocation, and that still has yet to be reflected in most of the rankings (at least the ones that place him behind Dozier, Arcia or Hicks...) On your list, Seth, I think he was placed perfectly btw
24. Call me a homer or super-optimistic, but I think that it is the Twins' year. If the Twins were frustrated with their infield play last season, I so cannot wait to see the highlights of: Prince -1B, Inge - 2B, Peralta - SS, Cabrera - 3B infield on a daily basis I suspect that Verlander (and their other pitchers) would be extremely effective with that infield...
