Just a lot of what ifs and hopefully attached to the entire Pitching staff especially the bullpen. We have a couple of decent possible additions but mostly again it's pitchers that the rest of baseball didn't want. I do hope they do well but certainly not counting on it.

Why the Twins Shouldn't Replace Pablo Lopez
Whitey333 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Yes i agree at this point to not trade for or sign another starting pitcher to replace Lopez. They should have traded this off season. Im not saying that because of the injury per se. Im saying it because his contract is too high at 21.5 million this year. With the current payroll at around $103 million it made nice sense to keep Pablo. The money budgeted there could have been used for the bullpen or other positions. All those starting pitchers we acquired and have had are pretty much suspects or other teams discarded pitchers. This is a good year to see if any of them are any good. I also think they should trade both Joe Ryan and Ryan Jeffers to get something decent. Jeffers is approaching free agency. Ryan not long after. I just don't see the current ownership investing in any major contract extensions. Nows the time to.move them. The team will be lucky to win 70-75 games with them. May as well move on for perhaps something better- 39 replies

Losing Pablo is a big blow no doubt. But lets face the facts that this team was going nowhere with him. This team is weak in so many areas that even with Lopez pitching once a week wouldn't have helped all that much. Just settle in for a long boring summer of some of the worse Twins baseball ever.

Interesting group of bullpen candidates. Im sure one or two of them will be ok. Not overly impressed with the large number of experienced pitchers that were rejected by most of all the rest of the league. But some one will make it at least through attrition. Twins philosophy in vogue here: hope and hype

The Twins reporting that they were in on Peralta or Valdez is a joke. More Twins bs. Just trying to save face in my opinion. Even if it was true their reputation lends one to question it. It makes no sense to keep a 21 million starting pitcher in Lopez when the payroll is so low. I hope hes not hurt too badly. Trade him and Ryan soon while you can still get something good for them. Ryan had sub par second half each of the past two years. Jeffers should be traded because free agency is coming soon for him. I doubt the Twins are going to sign him to an extension. The should go into a full rebuild. This team left over from the trade deadline was very poor. They finished like 70 and 92 . The roster they are putting out now anyway looks like a AAAA team at best.

Reviewing a Twins Trade That Helped No One
Whitey333 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Oh no. Outman is out of options? We might have to DFA him? There goes our World Series championship. Outman should be out. I'd much rather have a proven major leaguer like Larnach. Although his career has been derailed or ruined by Rocco. He still had like 125 hits last year at or near the most on the team. Is he great? No. But he at least would be an improvement over Outman. Outman is just taking up space on the 40 man roster. -
Trevor Plouffe is good to have on the broadcasts. However he so clearly rides the fence when talking about the team, especially when it plays poorly. That's understandable. He is nit going to say much negative about the boss who signs his paycheck. I don't think too many of us would. I don't think the 2026 Twins will be competitive at all. In that vein I think it would be better if they traded Lopez and his 21.5 million salary this year and get some real bullpen help with real decent players not the scrap heap. I'd hate to lose Lopez. But the Twins need to move him and Ryan and Jeffers and Buxton to solidify a direction and some future.

Twins Add Veteran Lefty Andrew Chafin on Minor League Deal
Whitey333 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Let's face the fact that these pitchers the Twins have been getting are, for the most part are rejects that other teams discarded. It's the same old thing. Hoping that one or two of them make the roster and maybe make it through the season. It's just the way it's done here in Twins Territory. Sign players off the scrap pile and try to sell it to fans as a big deal. The so called closely contested American League central race will in all likelihood will be competitive for the Twins. Competitive for last place -
Well like normal the Twins propaganda machine known as Twins Daily is over- hyping again. Banda is a decent pickup. Elite?? Come on how ridiculous. He's not even elite on the Twins. I hope he does well. At least he is probably on the top of the Twins growing mountain of pitchers rejected by other clubs.
-
Ryan is only going to make 6 million this year. Oh my I sure hope he can feed his family. In all likelihood Ryan won't be long for the Twins anyway. He's pitched well although in each of the last two years his second halves have not been good. Considering the Twins front office and ownership it seems very unlikely that they will sign him to an extension. That mutual extension for $13 million won't be extended...most mutual extensions aren't. It seems to me that they need to trade the likes of Ryan, Lopez, Jeffers, and Buxton while they can get something good for them.

ZiPS Loves Kaelen Culpepper, and You Can, Too
Whitey333 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
I hope Culpepper is a hit. It's always the same only the players names change. The last wave of can't miss prospects have produced just 1 playoff team in the last 5 years. Many have regressed and some have flopped and aren't here anymore. Im sure Culpepper will be the next can't miss prospects we will see have a great major league career. I really do hope he does great. That's all the Twins have to sell to fans is hope and hype.- 31 replies

You could also have mentioned Buxton. He had a great 2025! But hes only played 2 full seasons in 10 due to a long list of injuries. He needs to have another healthy full productive season for the Twins. Also i would tender the enthusiasm regarding the great prospects that are major league ready. We've been down that path for over 10 years. Many of the can't miss prospects in the passed have fizzled out or regressed so badly. The current list of major league ready players in the minors have a lot to prove before we get all excited by their eminence.

Paul Molitor Joins the Twins Television Booth for 2026
Whitey333 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Monitor is a great addition to the TV side!! Plouffe is excellent and open minded. He doesn't sugar coat crummy play and try to sell it as good baseball. Perkins is great as well especially if you try to tune out his often time home town Twins are great bias. Morneau is pretty good if his long drawn voice and overanalyzing EVERYTHING is toned down. Span is ok but needs to talk a little louder and get more experience. Provus is great. Just the right mix of voice quality and even keel approach to broadcasts. I miss him so much on the radio. Unlike the talkaberry, oops I mean Atteberry, Provus takes pause at the broadcasts at times. Atteberry just drags out meaningless diatribe and seemingly never takes a break. His broadcasting is very hard to follow. Great hire of Molitor for Twins tv!! -
3 Must-Watch Twins Pitchers in Spring Training
Whitey333 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
You talk about so many great starters. Let's be truthful here. We hav2 good starters and 1 possible good starters. Yes we have like 8 potential starters. That doesn't mean they are good. The leftovers most other teams don't want. So they end up in the Twins reclamation roster.- 29 replies

Grading the Minnesota Twins' 2025-2026 Offseason

Same old Twins only worse this off season. The same philosophy of by passing most decent free agents, then saying you tried to sign some big name to make it look good. They then whine there are no decent free agents left. The same crap year after year. They only have hype and hope to sell to fans. That is getting old. This year 17 of our 81 home games will be played in April against some decent teams. They will likely be out of contention before memorial day. There is very little to root for except the development of the so-called can't miss prospects. That's why I still continue to say we need to trade Ryan, Lopez, Jeffers and Buxton and get something decent in return while their value is relatively high. They are a luxury on a terrible team and organization.

Tom Pohlad is Saying a Lot, and None of It Lines Up
Whitey333 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I too disagree with the way the Twins are approaching the season. IMO there isn't any real need to keep Ryan, Lopez, Jeffers and Buxton. The team is not going to be competitive anyway. Tear it all the way down. Get those supposed can't miss prospects up and see if they can play. This ownership and front office have pretty much ruined any enthusiasm for the upcoming season. With the dumpster diving we are doing AGAIN, it seems like there's no attempt to make improvements. Let the prospects show what they can or can't do. Or trade some of them for established players . -
Same old Twins narrative; hope and hype. Roden might show people he belongs. Rojas could develop into a good pitcher. Same old bs only with different names and players. Nothing has really changed thus far except many of the players the Twins received during last years salary purge are not that impressive. My question is why haven't we move the likes of Ryan, Lopez, Ryan, and Jeffers yet? May as well go all in at this point. The team finished 70-92 last year with those players and had amongst the worst record after the deadline in all of baseball. Hardly a great endorsement. And while we are at it gets traded Buxton too, if for no other reason than to give him a real shot with a real team.

The idea that the Twins were ever in on Peralta and Valdez is just more of the Twins propaganda machine. Just bs perhaps to stir some minor interest. It's always easy to say you were in on them after they sign elsewhere. We all know they weren't serious about it. Add me to the list of fans that think they should trade any or all if Buxton, Lopez, Ryan, and Jeffers while they can still get decent, and of course cheap, value in return. It's been apparent for a long time this team is not interested in being competitive. They probably figured out that it's more profitable to be a bad team and collect revenue sharing monies than to actually pay major league level players. Besides why do people just expect them to greatly increase payroll when they just are getting the debt bought down. It would make no sense financially to just run the debt back up. Im expecting maybe a 65-70 win year season and at times not noticing the difference between The Twins and St. Paul Saints. Not surprising since the Pohlads own them too.

Defense has been an issue with the Twins. It looks more questionable than I realized after reading your article. Just another reason to question the validity of this team. Looks like a long boring summer for the few Twins fans remaining

Look it's obvious the Twins are not going to be competitive in 2026. They SHOULD trade Ryan, Lopez, Jeffers and yes even Buxton. These players could bring a decent return. Ryan is good, not great. Lopez is a 21.5 million luxury that is not affordable on a small budget team. Buxton should be traded to a team that has a decent chance of going deep in the playoffs. At this stage of his career and the time spent with the Twins he deserves it. And let's be realistic. He had a great 2025. He played a somewhat full season. But hes only played 2 full seasons in 10 years. We all hold our collective breaths as he makes another great catch or gets hit by a pitch. It's time to move on from Buxton . Ryan Jeffers is going to be a free agent. It's unlikely Twins will resign him unless it's on the cheap. The Twins propaganda machine just keeps spewing out the same worn out sales pitch: Hope and hype
