I'm making it official. Addison Reed is my new favorite Twins pitcher.

I wonder how hard it really is to just slap hit anything to the left side (with a swing that would 99% of the time generate an out). I can't imagine it's that tough...

First Pitch of the MLB Season was a HR. Portent of things to come?
  4. RedBull34
It's posted on mlb.com, so I assume that it is.

    I thought this very odd.
  6. RedBull34
I think this was just a move to protect themselves. I don't think the MLB really cares that much about this, but it was public and they were covering their a**.

    Josh Willingham?

I'll grant that I do not believe Archer is an Ace, although I understand he is beloved by the Statheads. I think he's better then his ERA but probably worse then his peripharels. I view him as a #2. I'd probably rather have Darvish.

That's 28th last year, so I definetly wouldn't say awful. He is a fly-ball pitcher though, his GB rate has been in the 40's his whole MLB career. I'm more concerned about HR's. http://mlb.mlb.com/stats/sortable.jsp#elem=%5Bobject+Object%5D&tab_level=child&click_text=Sortable+Player+pitching&game_type='R'&season=2017&season_type=ANY&league_code='MLB'&sectionType=sp&statType=pitching&page=1&ts=1518114859393&sortColumn=whip&sortOrder='asc'&extended=0

They told me that Native American was too wordy, they liked the term Indian or Native (Never got comfortable with this one). Obviously this is an anecdote and doesn't cover the whole Native American population, but it was a group of over 200 students. They were also 12-15 for the most part as well, for whatever that means.

Anecdote: I taught a year on a reservation, and used the term Native American's exclusively to start. The kids told me to stop, it was making them uncomfortable. I still don't really know what to make of that other then the term Indian was actually the preferred label.

I don't really feel that White Guy's = Indians. I think calling them the Indians is about naming a team something like the Europeans or English or Irish. None of those are offensive to me. This is a statement about culture and geography more then anything. Redskins would be like naming the team White Guys or even WhiteSkins. This is a name about race. It should probably be changed...

I made much the same signing in OOTP. Makes this extra fun for me.
  15. RedBull34
I also hope the Twins keep him for next year. He's a good presence, and our only Latino position veteran.
  16. RedBull34
I'm guessing the R would have been Niko.
  17. RedBull34
    Yep.
  18. RedBull34
Charlie Barnes start looks a hell of a lot better then Littell's. Not sure how Barnes didn't get pitcher of the day...
  19. RedBull34
I still remember a deal I made on this game a few years back where Duensing DID make a difference.
  20. RedBull34
He only walked one guy the whole game, I think you are thinking of the Santana triple.
  21. RedBull34
Yea, but the P's are also paying all 13.5M of his salary. Red Sox get some cash relief and P's potentially get to flip him for more then they paid. I don't see the Twins adding to payroll right now.
  22. RedBull34
A lot of people voted for Bryon! I'm sure it's just a typo.
  23. RedBull34
So much optimism, so many dreams crushed.
  24. RedBull34
A faux pas, I completely forgot about Altuve somehow.
