  1. So Lopez comes out and throws 93 mph meat the first pitch. Damn. Lopez is not even close to our best pitcher, yet he got the big contract. 3 games in and the FO got Lopez drunk and had to double down on the trade get to feel better?
  2. Great throw, eh? I guess that is redeeming. As bad as Wallner looked not catching the ball and then almost falling getting it, the throw was amazing.
  3. Poor Varsho. You know those two homers will be on an endless highlight reel. Over and over and over.
  4. Great double play by Correa, but high baseball IQ for the basic "run right at the runner if he strands himself between bases" is something all little leaguers are taught (I would hope still). I think Correa does have a high baseball IQ, but I don't know that performing one of the basics properly means this was an example of that. Impressive DP nonetheless. “It seems like we're almost winning every game, but we can't finish it,” Correa said. “We have a really good team. We just haven't been able to put those clutch hits together in order to give our pitchers comfortable leads. There's still a lot of season left, but we've got to turn it on here pretty soon.” Real soon, and especially Correa at the plate. I like the confidence, but time to deliver. Talk is proving very cheap.
  5. Numbers. I do miss hits. Hits of all kinds. A couple of those singles after a couple of walks, and it means a run scores. But another walk just loads the bases, and we all know that is the kiss of death for this team. I like all hits. Even more than walks.
  6. So bouncing a baseball on grass or dirt..... on grass or dirt that gives bad hops to batted balls randomly..... is pretty much gauranteed to make the ball catchable? Instead of actually practicing your professional throwing ability to make a true and strong throw you practice hopping it on the soft turf or dirt instead? OK. Well, I'm glad that he actually threw it on the fly for both of the impressive double plays today. And it takes longer with the added friction and drag if bounced, too. Preferred bouncing is still a tough sell for me.
  7. Twins show pop-up power to negate 9 walks. Not a great plan.
  8. I wasn't my boys' coach, but I would play catch with them all the way through Pony League (maybe it was Babe Ruth League), and bounce it with a short hop all the time. They asked for it, too. Good practice.
  9. No bounce. Apparently Correa has figured out it gets there faster if he doesn't bounce it. I hope.
  10. 8 walks and only 1 run. How can that happen?
  11. Kinda sad that a player performing with an .800 OPS doesn' t fit the Twins system, but Miranda's feeble 2023, in the show and at AAA, does. Miranda reminds me of Danny Valencia so far, who had a great first partial year, and that was it. Hopefully, Miranda can shine and be a contributor, again. Time is ticking fast with Lewis almost ready to take what Miranda was gifted at the beginning of the year.
  12. Now multi-season contract laden and FO darling, Pablo Lopez, is bringing that ERA up, too, instead of down. Lopez for the season - 3.93 (career 3.90). So Lopez is average-ish (in my book), and Arraez is having a career year, and seemingly getting better each year. Lopez's performance is not giving me the optimism that some of the other staff is. Underestimated Arraez, and over estimated Lopez. You are your record, not opinions and hopes of what you could be.
  13. OK. It is how I feel. I was just expressing myself. I thought that is what this is for. It still makes me a bit sad. Please ignore me in the future. I don't mean to upset you, and I don't mean to tell you how to feel, at all. I am glad you are OK with the present state of the game and team construction. I never said baseball was losing fans, baseball isn't losing me. I have added a couple words to the actual original statement..... hopefully that makes it better. I didn't mean to speak for all fans, but I do have some great baseball buddies that root for other teams even, and we have had a few conversations in which we all felt the same. "Only 2 of the 9 in the batting order aren't first year "strangers". This is one of the reasons that baseball is becoming less intersting for - this - long time fans. 3 of 10 if we add Gray as he has been here for a while now. Julien is from the farm, but still first year. For me - It is harder to love and get excited about your team when so many are sort of rentals and just passing through."
  14. We are worse than last year! By 5 games! From 11 over .500 to 1. That is sobering with all the hype.
  15. Sure you can. That is the strategy. 5 homers and we win 5-4. 😇 .... and Duran gets to save it in the top of the 9th.
  16. JORGE!!!! another close game and never went to Duran before it was too late.
  17. Screwed by the ump again. Fake strike to Buxton. In the bottom of the 9th. Just when it hurts the most.
  18. But it is at least a save situation, instead of now being behind and Duran is on the bench instead. And we traded the farm for Lopez! 😇 He can do it! He is an all-star closer that we had to have. And Pagan with all that "stuff". But Duran could go more innings. He is a bull. He could also be an ace starter. He is being underused, no?
  19. But Duran isn't pitching much because the set ups are losing it before the 9th. Wasn't it Andrew Miller that had that run as a "fireman" and would close or pitch multiple innings, and sometimes get brought in in the 6th or so because the bases were loaded and no outs? I think it was Miller. Duran could be that guy. And he definitely is not being overused. More like under used, holding him to close games that never get there, and then he has to pitch with a 4 run lead just to give him work! I would like to see him when he is needed to save a game. Sometimes that isn't the 9th.
  20. Jorge Lopez losing it well before the All-Star break this year.
  21. Good for Solano. Wasn't expecting him to make that play. Throw was exciting.
  22. Was saying the same thing to the screen. At least we are still up one run. I was still pretty impressed with Moran's start. The first two batters were mowed down. I am always nervous with a fresh pitcher coming in and being wild. Duran has done it several times, too. Most of the time he comes in at the beginning of an inning, and it is not so noticed.
