  1. Hey,,,, why so negative......... they have won 7 of the last 11 .... 7-4! Take that percentage.
  2. I doubt that Redmond is on the hot seat after this week. Silly rumors. Spreading silly rumors.
  3. It would be very ironic for Gardenhire to be Mike Trout's manager, considering that the trade for Gardenhire that brought him to the Twins basically led tp Trout's dad quitting baseball starting a family, as Ronny got his AAA slot. Without that happening, there would probably be no Mike Trout.
  4. It was sure a treat watching Felix Hernadez pitch. He is always ready to field his position after he releases the ball. May is almost turned around. I miss pitchers fielding their position. I hope May is OK. 103 on the elbow has got to do some damage.
  5. Wow. This is really disheartening. The minors is where I come for reprieve. It is not the case much this month.
  6. Pelfrey has been a bonus so far. I think you give him starts and hope he continues, and unless this team starts to really be competitive, you can trade him for some value if you are lucky. Nolasco? I think I would like to see anybody BUT Boyer come out of the pen for a spell. Nolasco is going to be a problem. No mater what I am afraid.
  7. I say commit to Santana until the end of May. It is not like Escobar is hitting better.
  8. If MLB has ruled what Carter Capps does and to a lesser extent what Jordan Walden does is not a balk, then this is certainly not a balk. If you can change the amount of time you stay set in the set position and alter that everytime, then this is not a balk. And it wasn't called a balk, so it is not a balk. I think they are all a balk, and just another example of rules (like the neighborhood play) being ignored to fit tradition or custom. Not much different than plate umpires still getting to call fictional strike zones and make up a new one with each pitch when we have the ability to call the same strike zone on every pitch in every game now and baseball doesn't chose to.
  9. Other than Cedar Rapids, it is turning into a pretty disappointing month for the farm. 7-6, 6-6, 5-9, and 10-4 from the top down. And the top 2 prospects not doing well at all. Not that impressive for the so called 2nd best farm system in baseball.
  10. A seven inning professional baseball game again? That's not pro baseball. I hate that. Like playing a double header after a postponed game is too much for these guys. I thought if you are in the minors, it is a given that you need more work, not less.
  11. Is Achter just practicing for coming out of the Twins' bullpen?
  12. How can that be true? If it is true, what does that say about Fangraphs' defensive stats? I have to save that for later when someone uses Fangraphs as words from a deity, if it is true.
  13. Yank him. That was an attitude catch... or no catch. He does this all the time. He doesn't watch the ball into the glove, even when he catches it, and he is terrified of the wall. Once he get to the warning track he is petrified. This lazy effort needed a message sent.
  14. It is getting depressing checking in on Buxton and Sano and Burdi and Reed. It doesn't appear that relief is coming anytime soon for the Twins.
  15. This sounds like a subject for "The View". I have to abstain any comment about the subject on principle.
  16. Players really seem to regress if they don't play. Santana and Escobar both had great springs, and both had a pretty darn good 2014, too. Santana's was even better than Escobar's. If by a "lengthy minor-league record of mediocrity" it means hitting around .270, then I think that applies to both of them as well. They both have similar numbers so far in 2015. I think we give Santana a bit of slack here. It wasn't his fault that he could play a slightly below average center field and that no one else seemed to be able to do better, and hitting .320ish was hard to take out of the lineup. I don't know that he needs to hit lead off all the time, though. But let's face it. Most of the Twins' batters are hitting like Danny Santana is right now and around the Mendoza line. May as well give then all a chance to settle in. That or replace them all. I don't see how the Twins are focused on playing strong defense behind their pitchers. If that were the case, the outfield would be all different people, and the first baseman would be a bit more practiced as well.
  17. No, but at this point, the Ace of the Twins' staff. Not an Ace in general. One very good year (last) followed by an equally good or better year, and he is on his way, but not yet. Time will tell. All #1's are not Aces. Phil should prepare for the start of the year better, and try a different prep. If you always start bad, why not try something else?
  18. "Peterson quickly got ahead of Angelo Gumbs 0-2 on a pair of breaking balls and then balked in a run when he dropped the ball while he was standing on the rubber, before eventually striking out Gumbs to retire the side." There are a lot of ways to lose a ball game, but this is a new one on me!
  19. I didn't find your post offensive at all. I took it as fun and banter with a bite. I was just getting some clarification from chitown. I think this has been a fun and informative discussion. I will try to use words i mean, and I hope that others don't put any in my mouth... or at the tip of my fingers... and I will try to do the same.
  20. I still consider Berrios a top prospect. I am betting you do, too, and just forgot to include him here.
  21. Maybe so. I prefer to take him at the words he carefully and thoughtfully chose to use at this very important time for a very personal and meaningful event in his life.
  22. Thank you very much. That helps me a lot. What had also led to confusion is that another moderator, ashburyjohn, had liked the first comment, so I really needed some clarification.
  23. I am going to have to find that speech. (If anyone has a link, that would be great to offer). That is pretty telling to say that you don't think you are the right person anymore.
