  1. Not too many years back, the stat guys were touting how worthless it was to pay for relief pitchers, and specifically, closers. The KC breakthrough 3 headed monster for the 7th, 8th, and 9th, changed the game, and hopefully, our front office is paying attention. The only thing better than a two headed monster, is a 3 headed monster. I certainly hope the Twins acquire at least two, and not just one. But hey, one is better than doing nothing again! I appreciate the optimism of the article and summary of the bullpen, I just don't want the Twins FO to be paralyzed by hope, again.
  2. I always liked Garver the best. He isn't runner up to Turner for the Johnny Bench award for college catching that year by being a slouch devensively. Stohs and co. always promoted Turner and rated Turner over Garver, but I disagree(d). You have to hit too. Have too. Still, I never expected the Reds to use a roster spot on Turner the whole year. I was betting he was coming back for sure. The DL time helped. He still is barely playing for the Reds. Hard to develop that way. He will be back in AAA to start next year I bet. Garver is ready now. And so is his bat!
  3. Sano's OPS is now in the .800's and dropping. I hope our best players get better, and we can claim at least one that has an OPS in the .900s, and hopefully becomes an elite player that is in the 1,000s. At least 2 of these guys were a supposed lock for this to happen. Maybe it will. I can't blame anyone for expecting and hoping for better. (Hell, the Dodgers have 4 in the .900s and one just into the 1.000s! - I'm just asking for ONE - at least right now)
  4. Garver is not getting any younger. I hope they don't wait until he is 30. I can't believe, even with all his time on the DL this year, that Stuart Turner is still on the Reds active roster with his 47 at bats in 25 games with 3 walks... he did hit his first homer on aug 9. They must really see something ready to blossom, eh?
  5. Wow. Time to improve, not regress. Still high hopes, but someone really needs to get in his head and do some mentoring.
  6. I hope Sano figures out that his power is there without the massive cut. At this rate of decline and strikeouts through the year, his OPS could very well be under .800 by the end of the year.
  7. I hope that officially moves Belisle out of the closet role. HA! typo edit.... closer. (it made me laugh so I have to leave it).
  8. Yes? Yes to what question? Classic avoidance.
  9. So does Berrios' 4.27 ERA for the season now move him into a mediocre pitcher category? Or is he still in the conversation for an "ace"?
  10. About time we have a FO that moves the prospects aggressively. I love it. It helps take the lingering sting away from passing on Hunter Greene.
  11. Good things can happen when you hit the cut off man! How about that Kepler!!!
  12. We need about 5 more runs probably .......
  13. Molitor's growing confidence in his bullpen lately has led to a quick hook. So far it is working.
  14. Mark me as one that definitely didn't want to see Pressly here...........
  15. This is where I bow out. I am expressing my opinion, and do not enjoy others assigning theirs to me. I am happy for you that you are happy with Colon.
  16. Well, we can't let that happen! Two games sucked, one better, and 2 games good (some might be more accepting, and say "There's one legit bad start, one slightly bad/meh start, one acceptable start, one good start, one great start."). Even with the Twins, he is down 3 games to 2, or 2-2-1. Seems he owes us a couple 3 more before I get excited. The first 13 games of his season don't just not happen, either. We (and he) got lucky a couple games is how I look at it so far. He certainly will be getting at least a couple more starts that I will not enjoy watching him, no matter what happens.
  17. If Dietrich does well, he could be a real catalyst...... the Ennsyme we have been looking for.
  18. Three games sucked, and 2 games good. Even with the Twins, he is down 3 games to 2. Seems he owes us a couple 3 more before I get excited. 19. At this point, I don't really care. This was an observation referring to a general occurrence, not just this one. Enns could suck, too, right? They all could suck. One might be ready and it isn't found out because they weren't advanced. Gonsalves just being moved to AAA shouldn't matter. Pitchers (and players) get called up from AA. So "protect" Romero and Gonsalves but not Enns? I am ambivalent about who it is. I don't really like any of the choices, and can't really get excited about it. I don't like Colon (and he has been good here), I never wanted Nolasco or Santiago or Pelfrey or Capps even when they were acquired...... I doesn't matter what I want. I don't want this team to operate on the cheap. It doesn't matter what I want.
  20. Seems like your chances of being called up for the Twins are way better if you haven't been in the system. The non twins' guys seem to get the call before the guys that have worked their way up in our own farm system. They aren't good enough for the teams that discarded them, but they are for the Twins. Meanwhile, our farm guys are passed by or put deeper in the depth chart. I am not saying Enns shouldn't be the call, but am just noticing......
  21. Just think of the fiery passion he would bring to the team as a manager..........
  22. Watching these slighter players club home runs, it still amazes me that someone with all of Mauer's talent and size, and he never made the adjustment to be able to hit home runs.
