  1. One would think Perkins could have have time to really get himself in shape with all that time off. I see his neck beard made it through the rehab.
  2. but one (Buxton's) wasn't a strike... but a perfect take.
  3. Just look at the meat and swing at the crap......
  4. Yet another instance where the impossible task of a well meaning human trying to call balls and strikes correctly is cheating the game.
  5. Down 5 runs..... Mauer being sent after stalling at second..... Gene Glynn is an idiot. That one run is inconsequential. He has to know that by now.
  6. Gonna be bring in the high eighties heat!
  7. Too Much Stuff Eric Bibb Delbert McClinton, Lyle Lovett, John Prine
  8. Good stuff. Not the right stuff, but good stuff, eh?
  9. At least we have Grossman in as a defensive replacement for Kepler in the 8th and 9th.
  10. Now he will get a strikeout. When the pressure is off. Good thing Molitor pulled Gee when he did, instead of letting him get stretched out.....
  11. Don't you love it how people keep saying stuff like.... "but Pressly has good stuff......."
  12. Bummer. Anywhere but there. Now we need a real hit.
  13. Has Buxton not learned to look at the third base coach when rounding 2nd?
  14. I do not like this pitching move at this point in the inning.
  15. I read Sano has been showing up early and is first to the plate in BP and working off the tee and just obliterating the ball. He hasn't struck out once off the tee.
  16. I will talk about his rehab a bit...... He has pitched at three different levels in rehab, posted a 6.14 ERA across 7.1 IP. He had 10 strikeouts ...... but five walks. His velocity has been in the high 80's, with a very few low 90's recorded. His 96 mph fastball of the 2013 season was already at 92.1 last year. "It's not I've made three All-Star Games and have all these saves, I need to pitch here. I'm not entitled to anything," Perkins said. "My goal is to help wherever I can. To think otherwise would be incredibly selfish on my part. I checked my ego when I had surgery." MLB baseball with a playoff possibility on the line is not an exercise in nostalgia. That performance in the Minors is not a rehab that is rehab-ready for the show! That is not a rehab that has EARNED a spot on a MLB team. Seriously, we all wish it were different, but as long as the Twins are in it, Perkins needs to do what is best for the team. Hey! Maybe we should sign Joe Nathan, too, and throw him out there. Now is NOT the time for a Glen Perkins return to the mound for the Twins.
  17. Castro set up 6 feet in front of the plate. Even with a perfect throw, the runner would score. The thrown ball travels faster that any catch and sweep. Giving the runner a path to the base doesn't mean you have to be in front of the plate. You can be just behind it as well, and in position to see where you need to tag him. Other team's catchers are figuring it out. I thought Castro was supposed to be one of the best defensive catchers. Time to adjust! Make that PAST time to adjust.
  18. "Having now pitched at three different levels on the farm in rehab stints, Perkins has posted a 6.14 ERA across 7.1 IP. His 10 strikeouts in that span are exciting, but they've been paired with an unfortunate five walks. Velocity returning has been a big question, and aside from a few low 90's reports, he's hovered somewhere in the high 80's. It's hard to imagine the life on his fastball being better than what it was, and he's dipped from 96 mph in 2013, to 92.1 mph a year ago." MLB baseball with a playoff possibility on the line is not an exercise in nostalgia. That performance IN THE MINORS is not a rehab that is rehab-ready for the show! That is not a rehab that has EARNED a spot on a MLB team. Seriously, we all wish it were different, but as long as the Twins are in it, Perkins needs to do what is best for the team. Hey! 19. I cringe at the thought of wasting innings on Perkins this year. Especially now. NO NO NO. Time for retirement. Only if and when the Twins are eliminated should he get the mound for old times' sake.
  20. Maybe...... and I could be misremembering, but I remember that they were not worth signing specifically because you can't be sure which ones would be good, so don't do it at all, and use the grow your own method.
  21. While it was a lot of fun to see Hildenberger get his first save, and step up, that 2 run homer in the eighth inning of the 12-11 loss the night before (that included allowing 2 inherited runners on first and second to score and one of his own, turning a 11-7 game into a 11-10 game headed into the 9th inning) is still just as fresh in my mind as the next night's success. I am not ready to anoint him a closer. He does look promising for a later inning option, but I would hope for a monster, and not a place holder.
