  1. Hill only has 95 pitches..... he could pitch the 10th!
  2. I give the error to Polanco. He would have been safe, anyway. The throw was unnecessary! And the person throwing gets the error if the throw isn't right on, and it wasn't at all. Escobar was lucky to get a tip of the glove on it with the runner sliding between were the ball was thrown, and were it should have been thrown.
  3. totally. lazy start of play by Kepler, and Santana and Rosario both standing around instead of thinking ahead of possibilities. very poor defense. no intensity.
  4. One could say that the FO has selected more "failures" since we really only want 5 good rotation pieces with 5 back up depth in AAA. And the very high percentage of selections have not pitched well enough to stick and be a consistent option. Seems like guessing as much as great evaluation to me. Plus, the new 10-day DL has changed everything about moving players around. Just ask the Dodgers. I like it.
  5. It sure seems to me that a defensive specialist catcher should not be letting that pitch get by him.
  6. Throwing in the towel. Depressing.
  7. I'd like to forget him for the rest of the season .... but..... 6 homers given up in the last 8 innings is hard to forget.
  8. And Slegers is off the roster, now. I hate to just give a game away with pitching that is filler, and not a prospect, even. Neither of these guys are. And let's face it. 27 is not still young in the scope of youngness for MLB players. 27 is still hoping and dreaming, with time running out and Korea calling.
  9. Triple A filler game, with the wild card begging you to come and get it.
  10. I think it is a 5 game series with the make up game.....
  11. Pitches 7 and 8 from Melville to Abreau were called balls, but both strikes. Pitch 7 the perfect corner of zone, and pitch 8 in the low part but even more in the zone. At least Melville didn't get totally screwed and struck him out anyway. Hard for the ump to get a swinging strike wrong, too.
  12. I agree totally. In fact, it is impossible for an umpire to do the job correctly, and always has been. That will be changing within 5 or 10 years, and it should have already changed. The point is to get it right, and the game be in the hands of the players, and not the umpires. Slowly will will get there, and even the balls and strikes.
  13. I hope Royce Lewis makes me forget my disappointment of the Twins not drafting Hunter Greene! He sure is eating up the first two stops to the show! Melotakis in relief of Gonsalves 3 home run and 6 earned in 3 innings effort..... 7 earned and only two outs, all with two hits. OUCH! For both of them. Still ouching...... I see that the Tennessee Smokies have a pitcher named Cael Brockmeyer. I guess he must not be related to Jim Brockmire, or if he is, changed the spelling of his name........
  14. So sorry, to confuse you. No, not that one. Not the strikeouts in consecutive games in a season record, of which pitcher Vida Blue is third on the list.... no not that one. The total strikeouts in a season record, of which Sano was well in the lead. But then, you knew that I am sure.....
  15. I hope Grossman was watching Rosario play outfield with Buxton!
  16. Buxton just can't lay off the outside slop. That was way outside. Like a foot outside.
  17. Trying to not get the MLB strikeout record?
  18. Judge trying to take the strikeout thunder away from Sano. How rude.
  19. 6 homers given up in the last 8 innings pitched for the fat man. Yet, he seems to be a unmovable part of the rotation in this FO's plan for this year.
  20. Well, only three players are listed on the active roster as outfielders, and Grossman is listed as DH. The bench, at this time, is only 3 people, with an infielder, a catcher, and a DH. I don't know that you can really call Grossman an outfielder, even though they play him out there, and watch him flail, but if you are inclined to, 1/3 of the bench = one person that can sit. He also pinch hit and struck out batting for Kepler in the bottom of the 7th and played 2 innings in the opener. At this point, I don't pull Kepler for Grossman to try to milk a walk, and he is only hitting .243 now.
  21. Defensive expert Grossman doesn't give way to Buxton. What the hell was he doing out there anyway? Kepler sitting at this point is just poor management. I will be very happy when the 3 year Molitor era is over.
  22. Six runs given up by the blowpen in the 8th and 9th after Gee pulled. Game would be tied, otherwise.
  23. What a waste of time. Nathan was the guy we needed. Hell, throw Eddie out there! This whole Perkins thing is very depressing.
  24. And then they put Perkins in and just throw in the towel.......
