  1. I'd like to forget him for the rest of the season .... but..... 6 homers given up in the last 8 innings is hard to forget.
  2. And Slegers is off the roster, now. I hate to just give a game away with pitching that is filler, and not a prospect, even. Neither of these guys are. And let's face it. 27 is not still young in the scope of youngness for MLB players. 27 is still hoping and dreaming, with time running out and Korea calling.
  3. Triple A filler game, with the wild card begging you to come and get it.
  4. I think it is a 5 game series with the make up game.....
  5. Pitches 7 and 8 from Melville to Abreau were called balls, but both strikes. Pitch 7 the perfect corner of zone, and pitch 8 in the low part but even more in the zone. At least Melville didn't get totally screwed and struck him out anyway. Hard for the ump to get a swinging strike wrong, too.
  6. I hope Royce Lewis makes me forget my disappointment of the Twins not drafting Hunter Greene! He sure is eating up the first two stops to the show! Melotakis in relief of Gonsalves 3 home run and 6 earned in 3 innings effort..... 7 earned and only two outs, all with two hits. OUCH! For both of them. Still ouching...... I see that the Tennessee Smokies have a pitcher named Cael Brockmeyer. I guess he must not be related to Jim Brockmire, or if he is, changed the spelling of his name........
  7. Well, only three players are listed on the active roster as outfielders, and Grossman is listed as DH. The bench, at this time, is only 3 people, with an infielder, a catcher, and a DH. I don't know that you can really call Grossman an outfielder, even though they play him out there, and watch him flail, but if you are inclined to, 1/3 of the bench = one person that can sit. He also pinch hit and struck out batting for Kepler in the bottom of the 7th and played 2 innings in the opener. At this point, I don't pull Kepler for Grossman to try to milk a walk, and he is only hitting .243 now.
  8. Defensive expert Grossman doesn't give way to Buxton. What the hell was he doing out there anyway? Kepler sitting at this point is just poor management. I will be very happy when the 3 year Molitor era is over.
  9. "Having now pitched at three different levels on the farm in rehab stints, Perkins has posted a 6.14 ERA across 7.1 IP. His 10 strikeouts in that span are exciting, but they've been paired with an unfortunate five walks. Velocity returning has been a big question, and aside from a few low 90's reports, he's hovered somewhere in the high 80's. It's hard to imagine the life on his fastball being better than what it was, and he's dipped from 96 mph in 2013, to 92.1 mph a year ago." MLB baseball with a playoff possibility on the line is not an exercise in nostalgia. That performance IN THE MINORS is not a rehab that is rehab-ready for the show! That is not a rehab that has EARNED a spot on a MLB team. Seriously, we all wish it were different, but as long as the Twins are in it, Perkins needs to do what is best for the team. Hey! Maybe we should sign Joe Nathan, too, and throw him out there. Now is NOT the time for a Glen Perkins return to the mound for the Twins.
  10. I cringe at the thought of wasting innings on Perkins this year. Especially now. NO NO NO. Time for retirement. Only if and when the Twins are eliminated should he get the mound for old times' sake.
  11. Maybe...... and I could be misremembering, but I remember that they were not worth signing specifically because you can't be sure which ones would be good, so don't do it at all, and use the grow your own method.
  12. While it was a lot of fun to see Hildenberger get his first save, and step up, that 2 run homer in the eighth inning of the 12-11 loss the night before (that included allowing 2 inherited runners on first and second to score and one of his own, turning a 11-7 game into a 11-10 game headed into the 9th inning) is still just as fresh in my mind as the next night's success. I am not ready to anoint him a closer. He does look promising for a later inning option, but I would hope for a monster, and not a place holder.
  13. Not too many years back, the stat guys were touting how worthless it was to pay for relief pitchers, and specifically, closers. The KC breakthrough 3 headed monster for the 7th, 8th, and 9th, changed the game, and hopefully, our front office is paying attention. The only thing better than a two headed monster, is a 3 headed monster. I certainly hope the Twins acquire at least two, and not just one. But hey, one is better than doing nothing again! I appreciate the optimism of the article and summary of the bullpen, I just don't want the Twins FO to be paralyzed by hope, again.
  14. About time we have a FO that moves the prospects aggressively. I love it. It helps take the lingering sting away from passing on Hunter Greene.
  15. Good things can happen when you hit the cut off man! How about that Kepler!!!
  16. We need about 5 more runs probably .......
  17. Molitor's growing confidence in his bullpen lately has led to a quick hook. So far it is working.
  18. Mark me as one that definitely didn't want to see Pressly here...........
  19. This is where I bow out. I am expressing my opinion, and do not enjoy others assigning theirs to me. I am happy for you that you are happy with Colon.
  20. Well, we can't let that happen! Two games sucked, one better, and 2 games good (some might be more accepting, and say "There's one legit bad start, one slightly bad/meh start, one acceptable start, one good start, one great start."). Even with the Twins, he is down 3 games to 2, or 2-2-1. Seems he owes us a couple 3 more before I get excited. The first 13 games of his season don't just not happen, either. We (and he) got lucky a couple games is how I look at it so far. He certainly will be getting at least a couple more starts that I will not enjoy watching him, no matter what happens.
  21. I get the sentiment.... but...... if Dozier really does go a tear right now, with the team only 2.5 games back of the 2nd Wild Card birth........ this is exactly the time for Dozier to go on a "statistical binge".
  22. 4 hits after 2 outs....... we think differently and have different standards. i will change imploding to 'being responsible'... at least for the last two runs, and it was also him that allowed the first one on base with two outs, but I won't assign responsibility to him for that.....
