  1. 2nd half numbers: Lindor: .316/.377/.578 .955 OPS 3.4 fWAR Donaldson: .274/.397/.613 1.010 OPS 3.0 fWAR Trout: .296/.444/.551 .995 OPS 2.8 fWAR In that context they are very, very good comparisons to Trout.
  2. That's true they could have. Vargas is also a strikeout machine and they knew they would be pinch hitting for Adrianza who was due up next. There were other directions, but I am not going to roast them for the once they chose.
  3. When was it said that "everyone" from the old regime would be let go? Why can't guys be on a case by case basis? And can we quit saying that he was fired? Choosing not to re-new an expiring contract is a lot different than being fired.
  4. This is great Tom, but like you said it takes all situations, every inning of every game but doesn't take batter or pitcher into consideration. You have Bentances on the mound who strikes out 39.4% of batters he faces and when the ball is hit into play he forces grounders 49% of the time. I could do the math, but I would have to think there is a much higher chance of a K or GIDP than there is a BB. Also, if the bunt is put into play, there are chances he beats it out and/or there is an error on the play. Meanwhile....even if Granite does get walked, someone has to put the ball into play. I guess it's just a personal opinion, but I don't mind the bunt in this situation with a weak hitter at the plate. Your good hitters need to come thru. Mauer K'd, Buck flied out. End of game. Most times I am very against the sac bunt, this wasn't one of them.
  5. Gimenez - 34 years old Batting - 207 PA .211/.341/.357 Fielding - 440.2 Inn, 9 PB, 12/28 CS 30% Arbitration Eligible Castro - 30 years old Batting - 379 PA, .233/.325/.378 Fielding - 853.1 Inn, 5 PB, 14/40 CS 26% Signed thru 2019, $8M per year. Just curious, why don't you like Castro but do like Gimenez? Besides a few points in OBP and a couple of runners caught stealing, Castro is the better player, not to mention he's locked up.
  6. I guess I don't know what people expected. His bat here is better than it's been with Houston since 2013. His CS% is above his career average and his passed balls per inning are going to be lower than they have since 2012. This framing has been talked about though I'm not an expert there. Catchers are a rare commodity.
  7. Tough loss, but if you get down to 7th to the Yanks, it's basically over. They lost the game by not being able to lay Garcia's junk stuff all night. Expecting to score off Robertson-Betances-Chapman isn't how you beat the Yankees.
  8. You just compared Chapman to Kintzler..........
  9. That's fair, 1B is a stacked position for sluggers. That being said, with a team like this full of free swingers having a guy hit 305/385/420 with 800 OPS and 40 XBH has a ton of value.
  10. I agree 100%. He had thrown less than 80 pitches coming into the 7th inning, I don't have a problem with him going out there to start the inning.
  11. Dougie wasn't a Falvey hire, they were only in the organization a year together....I don't really see the big issue here.
  12. We are getting spoiled by these walk off wins. This game could have been really ugly, Toronto could have blown it open in the 7th. Not going to win them all. Let's go hope Houston finishes off Seattle and Texas can find a way to win tonight.
  13. I'm sitting in my living room watching and I can feel the energy in that stadium right now. Crazy what some confidence can do.
  14. Because it's not true. ESPN is part of The Disney Company and while their numbers are down, their stock is up considerably over a 5 year period.
  15. The real problem I had with Molly tonight was pulling Jose after the 7th. He has thrown more than 94 pitches in 14 of of his previous 20 starts. He was crusing besides the HR to Gordon. Let him toss one more, or take him out at 1st sign of trouble in the 8th.
  16. Gimenez and his .184 BA with RISP or his .195 BA with Runners on? Maybe his .167 BA in close and late situations? I'd rather have Kepler in there against a tough lefty than Gimenez pinch hitting.
  17. Everyone roasted the front office for months to get Garver up here. He's up, he's right handed and we now we clamor not to use him? That is the reason he is up. It was the right call.
  18. That was fun! http://www.threadbombing.com/data/media/2/ohhellsyeah.gif
  19. Joe just keeps doing it over there at 1st

  21. How fun is this team? Buxton homers 3 times, Polanco homers from both sides of the plate, Dozier gets 4 hits, Rosario has a 2 HR night, Berrios strikes out a career high 11.......... these are full season highlights......that happened within a 5 day period!!
