  1. I understand this, but the option is there. They have the players to get it done. If they had zero farm syetem, yeah you have every right to question the front office. Wow, we possibly losing 4/5 of our rotation and have no farm or money.....which isn't true. For all we know, they will resign everyone and they could have the same starting 5 next year. Unlikely, but it's in the realm of possibility.
  2. The Twins core bats are aged 22 and 28 and many core players had break out seasons this year. Unless you can assume Kepler, Polanco, Garver and Arraez all had career years and will retract and Buxton, Sano and Rosario all aren't the players they have shown to be when healthy......then I think this team will be an above average and near the top of the league in offense. Sure, they might not break the HR record, but there's little to believe they won't be a force again next season. As for the pitching, Berrios looks like a star in the making, who still has some things to figure out, there's not reason to believe he cannot keep getting better. You have to assume some combination of Gibson/Odo/Perez will be back and there are some intriguing in house options. And like I said they will have money to go after a starter or two this winter. The bullpen possibly minus Romo, should be back. Rogers is legit, May and Duffy look like they have turned the corner, Dyson will be back. The bullpen as a whole will start the season as a better group than this season. I really think you need to get off this idea that guys are going to be hesitant and angry at the organization because of the Polanco and Kepler extensions. We have talked about this before and I honestly think there is zero ill will. Those players and their agents signed extensions before those players broke out. The idea they are holding a grudge is just silly, especially because there is zero that has come from anyone to even think this.
  3. I'd say no? Not only do they have a highly rated fam system with a lot of trade pieces, they should have plenty of money to add players in the off season while having most positions with entrenched starters. I'd agree with the poster that they are set up pretty well.
  4. I'd go with an 11 man staff. You do not need a 5th starter and depending on how you use your staff maybe not even a 4th starter in a 5 game series.
  5. I would say this is a question best asked on Opening Day next year right rather than right now.
  6. You are very right on your BABIP look at things, his BABIP since the break is overt .600 which is outrageous. But you went too far comparing him to Tyner who had a SLG for his career of .323.
  7. Disappointing start to the week, but they closed strong. Anytime people start saying "We need 5-1 or we HAVE to sweep here" is going to probably bring disappointment more times than not. Winning 2/3 all year long would result in 106 or so wins. If they didn't give away Game 1 against Chicago, they would have done just that. Last long road trip of the year starting tomorrow, Buck might be back....I'm excited.
  8. Getting 2 ER ball out of 5+ innings of a starter IS valuable though. I think all of us would like it if Jake could save a few pitches during his outings and go 7 everytime out, but sometimes you just gotta take what you can get.
  9. Kepler has played 4 innings of 1B in his career, I know he can play there, but thinking he is going to probably isn't going to happen in the stretch run when you have Cron, Sano, Adrianza and Marwin who have all played there this season. Unless Rosario is up and running full speed and moving in the OF like he should, keep running Cave out there IMO.
  10. That's why when you are this far into a season you celebrate the victories and lament the losses. If you can't celebrate today's victory because we are a worried about losses down the road, what can you really celebrate? We moved 1 day closer to the postseason with a 2.5 game lead in the division. Enjoy the win today and root them on for a series win tomorrow.
  11. This is way off topic......but Adam Schefter just announced that Andrew Luck is officially retiring from football. That's nuts!
  12. I don't think anyone should have that problem either! Cave out playing everyone since Aug 7th
  13. Most people like myself wanted Hamilton for September and the postseason as a situation guy not a guy in the starting lineup. Cave would have been down for a maximum of 10 days if they couldn't find anyone else to send down and they had to roster Hamilton for the rest of August. Cave would have been back on the roster Sept 1. If Buxton and Eddie are healthy, Cave wouldn't be in the lineup anyways. I will give it to Cave he has been on fire the last week or so.
  14. Outside of his power numbers Kepler has really struggled pretty hard the last 6 weeks too, weird to keep hitting him leadoff. Probably completely random....but Kepler has struggled when he plays CF. When he plays CF: 202 PA, .220/.292/.473 When he plays RF: 319 PA, .265/.351/.552 Buck please come back. Please.
  15. He started the 2nd game of the CHW series. Not that one game is enough, but he did start.
  16. I mean....that's not entirely true. It's pretty much just a 1/5 (or so) chance he is going up against the other team's ace.
  17. Twins were up 7-0 after 7 against one of the worst offenses in the league. Why try and overuse Berrios when they don't need to? A CGSO is nice, but in the long run, save that arm.
  18. Why would Rocco owe the fans an apology? Goodness. Kepler, Polanco, Cruz, Sano, Arraez, and Rosario combined for 2 singles and 6 K's. That's a lot of very good hitters. If anything Giolito owes Twins fans an apology for tossing a gem.
  19. I would say they gave away Game 1 of the series. They won game 2 and are just getting beat today. Giolito is dealing.
  20. Jorge is so HUGE for this team when he is hitting. He went into a prolonged slump for most of the summer and in the last 11 games or so it finally, hopefully, looks like he has snapped out of it and is hitting like he was at the beginning of the season. More impressively, he hi that HR as a right handed hitter last night.
  21. Fish man is not even good at baseball, but simply unreal.
