    The is the most reasonable post in this thread IMO. Eddie has more value in 2020 to the Twins than what he would get back in return. There is no one knocking on the door to take his spot right now and he is still a big time thread with the bat.

    Rooker's AAA numbers look good until you see he struck out 35% of the time. You have to assume that number will go up in the majors too, unless he can work on that, I have a hard time seeing him just being plugged into 1B.

    Jorge has played all of 15 games at 3B in a decade long career. Changing positions isn't that easy.

    Price's numbers last year weren't awful. 3.62 FIP, 10.7 K/9, 2.7 BB/9. The problem is he is owed $32M per year for the next 3 years....which gives him sorely negative value.

    The Sox eat 3/4 of Price's contract, where the Twins would be paying $8M per the next 3 seasons....Price then might be a welcome addition. I see in no way where the Twins would want Evoldi. His contract is huge and was not good by any means last season.

    He's a + defender and solid bat, a good player no doubt. It's still a lot of money for a guy on the wrong side of 30, who will catch 2/3 of their team's games, at least IMO.

    Grandal wasn't even on the Twins radar with Garver emerging the way he did. The fact he did not sign with Twins should not tell us anything.

    $18.25M per year. A lot of coin for a guy who is going to catch 100 games per year and strike out 1/4 of the time.

    That's fantastic, but why not both? Money isn't an issue with this club right now. Having Nelson Cruz on your team is better than not having Nelson Cruz on you team plain and simple.

    How do either of us know that? The Giants holding on to him thru the deadline tells me that they overvalued him. If they didn't he would have been moved somewhere.

    And if the price was Lewis or get lost? I think it says something that he wasn't traded at all. On top of that, would the Twins have beaten the Yankees with Smith on the roster? With the way things went, I would say no, probably not. Smith is now a free agent. Go get him.

    I think everyone would have rather had Smith. We also have zero idea on how much more he would have cost, or if he was even available once the deadline came around.

    Nationals have had elite pitching for years and they just won the 1st postseason series in their team's history. It takes a lot more than have some top arms at the front of your rotation

    I also think there is no way the Twins pay that either. IF they do plan on bringing Cron back, you have to probably assume they decline arbitration and offer him a 1 year deal more in the 4-5M range.

    I think anyone would love to have Merrifield on this team, but he would more than likely cost a fortune to pry away from Kansas City. If they are going to be using assets like that to acquire anyone, I'd rather they do it for pitching

    WIth Rogers number to jump that high.......I wouldn't be surprised to see him get an extension before arbitration hits.

    Before burying Falvine with the tired "Twins never do anything" comments, why not give the guy a chance? They are currently in a position with the current regime they have never been in before, how about we let it play out before determining it "all talk" and "empty words." Personally, I like the pro-activeness. There's not beating around the bush, they know we need pitching.......go prove yourselves right boys.

    With the way the Twins schedule sets up, they would only need a 5th starter 3 times in their 1st 40 games to still start everyone else on full rest. Plus....the Twins should have more than 5 guys capable of starting a ballgame anyways. They will have Dobnak, Smeltzer, Thorpe, Stashak still in the system if they aren't on the major league club. All are capable of putting together a decent outing.

    Because Odorizzi and Pineda were good pitchers this year. I haven't seen one person clamor to bring Perez back. In terms of FIP and WAR Berrios and Odorizzi were Top 30 starters this year, there's good reason to want to bring Jake back. Berrios is 25 years old and put up the best ERA+ of his career. Even if the Twins had 2 more aces, they likely lose Games 2 and 3 anyways because they didn't score any runs.

    Wow a whole team of rookies and castoffs that just won 101 games. Color me shocked. Can we get rid of this perceived reputation? They were a middle of the road of the salary team who had the best offense in baseball.
