  1. 12 days shy of the 9 year anniversary of the Thome walk off
  2. In all reality the bullpen gave up 2 singles and the Braves get 2 runs across. Should have been 2 errors and a passed ball. That cannot happen. It doesn't excuse Duffey for hanging the first pitch he threw to Donaldson, but damn help your pitchers out guys.
  3. CBU...heading to 9th in the Cleveland, Texas still clinging to that 1-0 lead.
  4. I mean he's crushing AAA pitching. The groundball % of 66.1% he has right now is nearly 20% higher than his minor league career. That being said....he doesn't look comfortable at the plate right now.
  5. Eddie should have taken that question. "Umm...well....bombas."
  6. I had to look it up. Good God. In 40 games vs. our boys, 177 PA, 16 2B, 19 HR, 45 RBI, .392/.475/.869 with a cool OPS of 1.344.
  7. I posted the video link in the former Twins thread. It's fun.
  8. This is pretty great. Escobar taking Dozier deep in last night's game. Look at that smile on his face while he's in the box, so great. https://bdata-producedclips.mlb.com/0939b96c-6f43-4fbd-9579-58863bbafcd4.mp4
  9. Bret Boone comes to mind.
  10. Hello and welcome! I cannot believe it is already August. Here in Montana we had snow on the ground mid-way thru May leaving a very short Spring before really jumping into summer. Today is one of my childhood friends birthdays. Growing up August 4th was always a great time, his parents always threw the best parties but it was always bittersweet. His birthday was always synonymous with the stretch run of the Summer. Montana Fair will be next week and school would always start in 3 or so short weeks. Now that I'm old, things aren't that different. Yes, the party won't be as fun, we will probably meet up for a beer though. Yes, the fair won't be as fun as it was always the time to see the people you didn't see all summer, hopefully catch a glance at your crush because you were too shy to talk to her. But we will probably go and eat some fried food and people watch. School will start in 3 weeks or so and all that means to me now is my commute to work will take about double the time it does in the summer. I think there's a Kenny Chesney line that says, "The more things change, the more they stay the same." ANYWAYS, how bout those Twins eh? 26 games over .500. I believe it is the high water mark of the season. They were 24 games over on June 12th, before taking a summer hiatus for most of June and July. The Twins will send Jake Odorizzi to the bump today, looking for his 13th win. The Royals will counter with 24 year old Brad Keller. Keller shutout the Twins thru 7 innings back in June before an 8th inning Mitch Garver bomba put the Twins up 2-0, which would stand as the final score. This season has been so much fun for me, and I'm sure many of you. Most years you could pick 1-2-3 things to define a season. "Oh the season Mitch Garver broke out, yeah I remember that." This season? I don't think I could even pick just 10 impactful things. I can't even pick out a favorite moment or game, the good times just keep coming....and we still have roughly 1/3 of the season left. I am stealing this from the game recap thread from yesterday and closing with it, because it's ridiculous. Since July 24, Nelson Cruz has hit .500/.581/1.308. The guy is 39. Oh yeah, he has two 3 HR games in there. Good Guys 1. CF Max Kepler (L) 2. 2B Luis Arraez (L) 3. DH Nelson Cruz ® 4. LF Eddie Rosario (L) 5. 3B Miguel Sano ® 6. SS Ehire Adrianza (S) 7. 1B C.J. Cron ® 8. C Jason Castro (L) 9. RF Jake Cave (L) SP Devin Smeltzer Bad Guys 1. Whit Merrifield DH 2. Alex Gordon LF 3. Hunter Dozier 3B 4. Jorge Soler RF 5. Cheslor Cuthbert 1B 6. Bubba Starling CF 7. Humberto Arteaga SS 8. Nicky Lopez 2B 9. Cam Gallagher C SP Brad Keller Edit: Apparently Jake will not be on the mound today, and Twins will start Devin Smeltzer who wasn't on the roster when I started this thread.
  11. I like Romo as setup. Duffey has great stuff and I do really think he has the make up to be a shut down reliever, his problem is that damn control. Once he loses it, he really loses it. If he could learn to harness it just a little better I really think he could be something special.
  12. And Twins win. 25 games over .500. I'm so ashamed.
  13. They took 2/3 of the road and blew the last game in pretty remarkable fashion, it was much closer to a sweep than "barely" beating them. The season is 162 games long, if they lose the division by 1 game there will be ~60-70 losses they could look back on. Losses happen.
  14. Also the offense seemingly already left for Target field mid game. In the last 7 innings the Twins had 2 hits, they both came in the 7th. The other 6 innings Marlin relievers faced the minimum batters.
  15. Did he forget where he put his control? What part of intel is finding the strike zone? He walked 7 batters in 51 innings all season and then walked 2 in 5 batters. I get making every excuse why he did bad, but sometimes you just gotta chalk it up to he didn't have it and got beat. He was throwing as hard as he usually does.
  16. He's been a good pitcher for 5+ years, he had a bad day.
  17. God bless you Taylor Rogers. Offense you watching that? Go put up a crooked number
  18. Dyson walks 7 guys in 51 innings with SFG, immediately walks the 1st batter he faces with Twins.
