  1. If I were the Twins decision maker i would be working to possibly trade guys like Rooker. It's possible (probable?) that they have been. I just don't see a future for him with the Twins. He can be a solid hitter at times but consistency isn't there. Add to that he has no position to play and is too young to be a DH.
  2. Nice summation. Thanks for that. It is just great to be reading about Twins baseball again with the season almost here.
  3. I believe there is a difference between a 5% profit and a 5% valuation increase. Gotta play the long game....
  4. I keep looking at the logjams and wonder how they are going to get playing time for all these guys. The only answer I can come up with is that they won't. The numbers don't match up. So what do they do? Kirilloff needs to play and 1st base is where he should be playing. Sano has one year left on his contract if my memory is correct. Who knows how many games will be played this year. What if they only get 120 games in? Sano always seems to me to take half a season to get his hitting in gear. Should the team expect that again this year? Why not see if they can trade him, perhaps as a part of a package for a pitcher? Everybody loves his long bombs but no one loves his whiffs.
  5. I would agree. My concern is that he has a long history of slow starts so how do we know if he has solved his issues or has to relearn the same lessons every year. This may be the year that the market may make moving him a worthwhile effort.
  6. But isn't that the annual conundrum for Sano? Aren't the twins talking about getting consistency from him every year. How many times have we heard that he is fully committed to play better this year or that he has found a new diet that will make all the difference or that the team only has to wait until June or July for him to find his swing? I am pretty sure the games played in April and May count as much as the ones in July. Don't get me wrong, i love watching him hit bombs too. I just hate watching the 15 strikeouts between bombs. i think it is time to say farewell to Sano with the possibility that NL teams may want him as a DH/1B.
  7. I would say that this is not a ticket selling lineup. Long season coming (assuming that ever talk to each other)
  8. With the Universal DH i wonder if the Twins will look to trade Sano. He will have a bigger market now. I have no idea if the Twins would want that but it raises the question.
  9. I was stationed in San Diego in the 70's. Went to a bunch of Padres games. Watching Winfield in the outfield and every 5 days Randy Johnson on the mound was great fun. Winfield was so strong and smooth back then it was amazing. He was totally wasted playing for the Padres. They sucked so bad that Ray Kroc (the Padre owner and McDonalds owner) got on the stadium PA and apologized one day and gave away free Big Macs to all the fans there.
  10. I am concerned with that leg kick. I know the Twins tried to get him to cut it down with poor results. If he can make it work - great. However, I have doubts.
  11. Don't forget that he had a serious finger injury last year and no knows how that will work out.
  12. What the heck, why not? It's not like we have seen any great plans work out the last few years. If these guys are 24-26 years old they aren't going to season any better in Wichita. If they show something then they can be kept and groomed for bigger things or traded for bigger things.
  13. Of note also is that on a MiLB contract allows him to use the Twins facilities and work with MLB coaches during the lockout.
  14. True, but historically TB has been outstanding in it's trade history.
  15. Rooker is an enigma. I can see him being retained or traded. He probably would need to be part of a multi-player trade and that is fine. he seems to me to be a less athletic version of Larnach (who has his own issues - cough off speed pitch cough).
  16. Rec of Blockbuster and Alice's Restaurant (where you can get anything you want, excepting Alice of course).
  17. I amy have missed it but has anyone posted on what's up with Cavaco?
  18. I am in a bind. My wife's two favorite players still on the Twins are Kepler and Tortuga. This could be a rough off-season.
  19. I know it is an often stated question here, but why the heck is Simmons still starting at SS? He won't (or shouldn't?) be here next year. Gordon looks like a passable utility player. He should be getting innings.
  20. Say what you want about Barnes but he definitely took one for the team. I didn't think Rocco would ever do that.
  21. Simmons is definitely a talented SS but seems to drift off occasionally and not be in the game. I would like to see Gordon get some SS time to see if he is capable. I suspect he probably isn't or at least does not have the strength to play SS for the long haul.
  22. Tulsa has some the UGLIEST uniforms I have seen in a long time. Yuck!
  23. Wichita, as a new affiliate, certainly can't complain about a lack of talent. The Twins have done well for them.
  24. Maybe it's time to have Tortuga give sliding lessons. He looked awesome sliding into 1st base last night! LOL
