  1. MLB already reduced his suspension from 80 games to 60. I doubt they will bend any further.
  2. Wow, looking at the two lineups, what a difference. NYY lineup is full of HOF players at or near their prime.
  3. How about another area? What if Buxton never gains (regains?) the ability to hit? From all accounts Lewis played very well in CF in the AFL. Is partial seasons of a poor hitting yet outstanding fielding Buxton worth more than a potential ++ hitting and + fielding Lewis? I would prefer Lewis at SS but would not be against using him at another position like CF. His speed and arm plus hitting are a very intriguing combo.
  4. I, for one, am amazed and very appreciative that TD has so many creative and diligent writers during this time of world trouble. Thank you all! And please keep it going.
  5. Watching the replay of that 2009 game 163, the thing that stuck out to me was that the Twins had nowhere near enough talent to be in that position. Maybe some of the players just had not developed yet but wow. Tolbert? Punto? Harris? And the pitching staff?
  6. I sure hope Donaldson doesn't have a slow start (assuming there is a start). Nice job on this by the way.
  7. I think Dick Bremer has been a very steady and overall good play by play announcer for the Twins. If only he had a better pairing of color commenters over the years. Bert was fine, but his shtick got old a loooooong time ago.
  8. I like what you are saying and see it as a real possibility. I also, however, see that MLB has the ability to screw up almost anything. Time will tell.
  9. And don't be that guy that buys a years worth of toilet paper because you are the first to get to the TP aisle.
  10. Nope, the Mets were stupid enough to sign this contract, they can live with it. If I were them, I would ask his agent to make a presentation every year to remind them of how foolish they were.
  11. My biggest concern with Garver is the concussion bugaboo. The Twins have some history there.
  12. I like the idea of thinking outside the box. I hope Rocco looks at each of his starter candidates and with the help of analytics determines what is the best approach for each. Optimizing potential is every managers job in every profession. Besides that, Bert would hate it so I kind of like it.
  13. Ground balls may be an issue for the Twins infield.
  14. I think we will see a better defensive performance by Rosario this year. He injured his ankle in June and was obviously not healthy the rest of the year. He just couldn't get to the balls in play that he normally would. I believe that also led to the perception that he just wasn't trying as hard on defense. Of course he probably will still make the bonehead throws to the wrong base that we all know and "love".
  15. I am 70 years old. I don't have a huge number of years to see another Twins championship. I was in the military and deployed in 87 and 91 so didn't see either of those live. This is the best team the Twins have had in a very long time. Let's do this thing Twins!
  16. I am a little concerned that I haven't seen any comments from the Twins or media that they are monitoring Sano's fitness like they did last year. I hope that he has matured to the point that it is no longer a thing.
  17. I like the idea of engaging in discussion. Neither Ryu or Darvish are sure fire slam dunks but conversely, both could be. It is best to have a hand in multiple possibilities rather than running out of chairs when the music stops.
  18. Stuff like this is why the off-season is fun. Thanks
  19. I can't envision a way that the Twins would spend the kind of money it would take to get Donaldson or Bryant. I am wondering what the blowback would be if they did spend that money then said they can'y afford a near top line pitcher. UGH! Moose would be my choice. The Twins don't have any great player currently playing 3rd in the minors so this is a timely question. They also must look at the long term future of Lewis and Polanco. Lots of questions to ponder.
  20. Can he be trusted? He was hit with the PED bit this season, but was he not caught having pine tar on his neck when he was a Yankee? My memory is bad but that is what I am coming up with. If he is that rulebook challenged, what is next when the team really needs him?
  21. First, I would like to thank the TD owners, contributors and fans for a great season of Twins coverage. It is always a joy to start my day with a visit to TD. My wife and I were discussing the Twins off-season and what moves are possible. WE started with which players would return which would not. We discussed who would replace the departed players from within the system. Then we asked which players (not prospects) would we be willing to trade. Of course it all depends on the return but thoughts are of trading one or more of Rosario, Sano and Buxton. All of these players are immensely valuable to the Twins, but the FA market will be thin and expensive. The return for prospects would be very costly also on the long term front. Trading Kiriloff, Larnach, Rooker, Graderol, Lewis, etc would throw a real blanket over the future. Many talk a great deal about the Yankees buying the best players but it is my sense that they do a really great job of developing their draft picks. That is where a mid market team like the Twins needs to be to compete in the long run. I want a WS win like everyone else, but I don't want the dead years that can follow a championship like the Kansas City fans have to endure.
  22. I am with you on the TV lineup. MLB network isn't even available for us up here in NW Minnesota unless we have satellite tv. I blame the Yankees. Seems reasonable as I have blamed them for lots of things for decades.
  23. The only word I have heard is the Adrianza is slightly behind Kepler and Marwin.
