  1. There would have t be further falling by either team for them to give up. That is the first reason why the idea is a very slim reality. For them to sell while giving up millions in salary would involve prospects of the top 100 varsity, or potentially top 100 variety. The Twins giving up a valuable prospect really has hurt them more than helped them. That further makes this type of trade less likely to happen. In the end you have a pitcher with recent injury issues. That would be counting on a lot of good luck strike three.
  2. The problem with eye tests are twofold. One is that you don’t see what other players do so how can one say for this year he is better or worse than the other second basemen this year. Second thing is the eyes are attached to something that has bias and short term memory losses
  3. If Fulmer wasn’t good by any means why are you suggesting trading for a pitcher that has blown more games for Detroit than Fulmer did for the Twins and has been pretty much been regulated to mop up duty?. If you think the Twins could fix Chafin, the why is Thielbar fixed.
  4. While your premise is correct that there are parts of the Twins bullpen that need improvement, the solution of adding other players that are also failing does not change the problem. Yes Presley in a sown year would be an improvement. It does not get the Twins deep into the playoffs. When the Twins traded for Fulmer the Twins received a pitcher that was having a decent season and only gave up a fringe prospect
  5. I wonder if he is tipping his fastball or if there are specific situations it is almost always a fastball . That would be a deeper dive than I am capable of doing., but it could explain the different results if everything else seems unchanged
  6. Rooker has played 72 innings and has made 9 put outs. I would say that stat should tell you he is hasn’t had many chances to make a mistake. You want to use one defensive metric to justify your claim. Look at UZR 150 and that will show a marked fall off from the Twins fielders. There is a reason they don’t put him out there
  7. 4 choices, 1 maybe feasible. Miami isn’t going to trade a controllable player unless it is an overpay. The team Shouldn’t trade for a reliever having a career year. They are not going to pay a high price for a reliever. They traded a starting pitching prospect to Baltimore for Lopez who is doing reasonably well. The only reasonable option is Esteves
  8. Rooker has only played 100 innings in the outfield. There is probably a very good reason why he is mostly a DH
  9. Lucas the PT will have to help Cody in his writing. I heard PT can help lameness. It is admirable that Cody had to stretch to second round picks as they rarely pan out. That would mean there wasn’t many bad first round picks to choose from. Cavacao was a bad bust. The coulda/woulda/shoulda choices are too numerous.
  10. Backing out on signing any player to a contract lasting well past their age 35 season is the common sense thing to do
  11. There were articles on how he could not hit the high inside pitches. There were articles on how he fixed his swing over the winter and the spring training results were proof of that. Needful to say that the early season performance of Wallner indicated there was still a problem. Being successful in the minor leagues is not indicative of the fixed the problem. It could just as likely mean the less than stellar pitching at AAA can’t hit the spots as well and Wallner will be good enough to hit mistakes and average to mediocre pitching
  12. Nowhere has anyone pointed out that he fixed the hole in his swing.
  13. Could help. Might help. Hedging so as to not be wrong. Why not just include the roster f the Saints,. Any could help. Maybe just bring Jenkins up. He could help
  14. The problem is too many people are placing an emphasis on winning. They wouldn’t have to worry the least bit about stats and injuries if they din’t care about winning. Medical bills are also outrageously expensive, but why should the average fan care about a player’s health?
  15. Being the Pirates are in the position of fighting for a spot in the playoffs it would seem ludicrous to think that they would be trading future assets or useful expiring contracts unless it was an overpay
  16. The current GM has traded expiring contracts at the deadline. The only trade of a player with years of team control was Marsh fr what looks to be a very good catcher. What expiring contracts they traded seem to be useful but not helpful players except for Iglaseas.
  17. A list of reasons why there would not be a trade with Miami unless it was for lottery tickets
  18. The percent chance of a Twin making the All Star team by voting is slim. The only hope would be the fans of the other AL East teams wanting to spite Rutchman. From there it would depend on what they think the All Star team needs and whatever they have to pick from the dreg teams. I am not sure what the other teams have that would have to be placed on an All Star team. What do the White Sox have Crocket or Sheets? Oakland Rooker or the reliever? The Angels Anderson or Trout. The Royals Perez on reputation? Those decisions would impact wh they would select from the Twins.
  19. I think beyond the headline the author did not need to write anther word.
  20. You can sell a left hand bat and buy a RH bat. You can sell an expiring contract and buy one .it all depends on the prospects offered, and if anyone likes the prospects you don’t
  21. They got a good half season out of Romo for a 1b who couldn’t hit major league pitching they got an injured Dyson for 3 lottery tickets that have done almost nothing at the major league level they got Fulmer for a pitcher that is undergoing TJ. He did have a good September call up pitching against 4 teams that were amongst the worst in baseball. Projected a ceiling f back of rotation starter They got Oekert for a utility player that can’t hit Pagan was good enough to get a 24 million dollar contract that leaves 1 bad trade
  22. Pretty much every team was close to 40% last year. 20 f the teams were over
  23. What has Miami done in the past? Except for when Ng made trades the team takes as many prospects as they can . That would about 4. Most would be off the AA roster, none would be in the top 10 of a prospect list. Think something like Rosario, Shoebel, Mathew’s and a low level prospect.
