  1. You brought it up as a way of criticism of May. To some May still has potential to be a servicable starter. What hinders or helps that progression should be fair game for discussion.
  2. Just picking on someone here in fun but May has less twitter posts than someone has TD posts, yet the TD poster manages to do his job. Twitter has been around for 13-14 years. The number of posts is not that many. May still has less posts than https://twitter.com/kimkardashian?lang=en Warning, the link may be hazardous to your health
  3. Comparing innings pitched to activity on twitter is beyond being odd as one has nothing to do with the other.
  4. Parmelee, Vargas and Benson had quite the major league careers.
  5. Did not say he should not be in AAA. Did not say that it doesn't matter as a blanket statement for player. It would depend on the player.
  6. There is the return to health of Buxton. Then there is Lamarre. AA players do not do so well going straight to the majors as hitters. Short term That leaves out Wade for now.
  7. The decision to keep Grossman was made long before whatever position player was added. Grossman's role was primary DH With the hiring of Lomo, Grossman is now an outfielder, his secondary position. They added one position player. They could have aded an outfielder like Gomez, instead they added LoMo. Choice LoMo, consequence Grossman is an outfielder. Sorry that line escapes people.
  8. Second rule is don't throw dirt on others as a means to hide what you can not defend. There is a great difference in what Gomez was versus what he has become. There is a reason he was available. Gomez now versus Grossman is an argument over which below average player do you want. The statistics from the gurus over at fangraphs says there would be very little difference despite the ultra poor defense by Grossman. You can have an opinion. The hole you created is that there is nothing but past memories to justify it.
  9. The memory of Gomez's defense could play CF, His play in CF last year left him with a fringe contract this year. and a signing well after spring training had started.
  10. Gomez's defense has slipped.Fangraphs overall defense rating does not like him. UZR150 doesn't like him. DRS does. . Fond memories of yesteryear are just that. To think that Gomez's fielding would overcome anemic hitting is about as equally untenable position as expecting Grossman to improve his hitting from his breakout season and finally be a decent fielder. If the Twins had signed Gomez rather than Morrison the ghost of Gomez past would haunt him on these boards.
  11. Gomez's season has been about as good as Grossman's You do not see much of Gomez's play
  12. couldn't quickly find steamer 2017 but you can see how individually off Zips is https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2017-zips-projections-minnesota-twins/ https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=100&type=8&season=2017&month=0&season1=2017&ind=0&team=8&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=15,d When I looked one time they get the team about right as a whole. Individuals, not so much
  13. Not much in AAA to get excited about, Gonsalves is about it. Reed hasn't pitched much this year. In AA there is Gordon maybe Wiel if they find a taker for Morrison, maybe Wade if he continues to hit. Jay has not pitched much yet.
  14. Oh to have a lights out closer. One small little reality is no reliever strikes anyone out. Only 9 have managed to over the last 5 years y strike out more than a third of the batters they face. Defense is the reliever's friend
  15. Well, 5 mil to the Twins is the difference between having Logan Morrison versus Kennys Vargas. Uhm, at this point, never mind.
  16. Minor league teams do not pay for the salary of the players so whatever they make on attendance does not effect the payroll. Even then of the 190 minor league teams only 46 averaged more than 5000 a game. 14 over 7000. Using Mike's figure 5 million to each of the parent clubs having each minor league team making anther 750000 would be more than most teams could bear. That would especially hold true for the lower minors where the bulk of the players play and don't make any money.
  17. Minor league salaries are paid for by the major league teams. That has been fairly well established in this thread. Whatever salary the players, and club staff get does not effect the ticket prices or concessions of minor league teams. So, if you are thinking ticket prices are going up from 10-11 dollars, that ship sailed quite a while ago at the major league level.
  18. Minor league team player salaries are paid for by the parent club. I couldn't find any 11-12 dollar tickets for Target field. Even the Oakland A's do not have that cheap of ticket.
  19. Based on IP that would be an average length of a start.
  20. According to Fangraphs 5 pa against L 1 walk 1 double. Way to early analytical pronoucements
  21. the simplicity they seek is elevate and celebrate
  22. Pittsburg had 3 years of playoff baseball in a row, how quick fans forget. The 40 years before that is another matter. Can Hunnington do it again? Maybe. Maybe not, as Ryan found out. The Browns have missed the playoffs for 15 seasons and have had only 2 winning seasons in their current incarnation.
  23. Rule v draft was in December. Chagois was designated in February. One has nothing to do with the other. Morrison was signed a week after Chargois. Cause and effect would be sketchy at best. There would be no certainty of signing anyone
  24. When Bard is pitching with the game on the line regularly it will be significant that he was selected. When Chargois stays healthy for a stretch it will be a significant loss. One year with a heavy workload, injured the next. 2 years out during development.
  25. Tampa had some great years a half decade ago. No baseball team really has had te futility of the Browns. The Marlins, Padres and the Reds are the closest version, but nowhere near the Browns. Are 10 years of futility for the White Sox enough to consider. Every year it has been the refrain about they got so much better.
