Simeon Woods Richardson Has A New Pitch
BSLinPA replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
24 years old with five years of team control remaining, would be crazy to write off SWR. (not saying anyone has suggested it) -
I get a kick out of folks who are so anxious to tell others how they should spend their money.....especially when the spending is not necessary. Perhaps the OP will pay our annual fees that we have access to Twins Caretaker Content?? You know, "in the spirit of the game", "free press" and since it means "everything" to some of us. (sarc noted) I love the Carson McCusker story. I hope he becomes a MLB regular and reaps all the benefits to which he will be entitled. Jocko87 is on the mark.......the CBA is the employment rulebook. Both sides have signed off on it and shall abide by it....no tears, no susprises, no refunds. Important issues will be negotiated in the future.......this matter not will not be among them.

Any Twins fan that spent time in Ft Myers during Spring Training over the past 7 or 8 years has gotta be pulling for Randy. He takes the time to make himself available to every fan he encounters. We remember how it looked like he was putting it all together in Spring Training of 2021, adding a "new pitch" (reported mostly as a slider, i thought it was a split finger/sinker) that enabled him to average nearly 1 K per inning. As the result, the front office signed him to the multi-year contract. However, it was this first "new pitch" that caused Randy years of hand injury/misery/struggles. It be great if this second "new pitch" enabled his full time return to MLB. Keep pushing, Dobber.....we're with ya!!

Please Come to Minnesota, Roki Sasaki
BSLinPA replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
We'd all be thrilled if this were to happen, but...............let's regain our senses. Why wouldn't this young man, hoping for a long MLB career with a live arm, want to pitch the first 6 weeks of the season in freezing temps? Then, if the team performs well enough, there's the opportunity to do it again at the end of the season! (The decision NOT to build a retractable roof stadium contiues to pay dividends.) And, yes.....ice fishing very big in Asia. -

What have the Polad$ done to instill any confidence in what is about to play out?? Expect another circus. Paging Donald Watkins.....lol. Stir in the sway of woke commish Rob Manfred and this could easily become a mess. And nothing good happens if this lingers; thru the off-season or worse yet into the 2025 baseball season (or longer??). This provides another perspective on Thad Levine's departure (he may have jumped off a sinking ship??). I sincerely hope my gut is wrong on this. Hopefully, given that the Pohlad$ have gone public with this, I'm way off base and there is a viable buyer/owners group lined up. Time will tell.

Mod: Be sure to run all User Names through P-Sab. He is clearly the authority on determining what User Names are acceptable. How dare fellow Twins fans be permitted to identify themselves as they wish?? P-Sab, You've told us everything we need to know about you ........ let's stick to baseball.

Has Varland Won the 5th Starter Job? What Are the Options For DeSclafani?
BSLinPA commented on LA Vikes Fan's blog entry in LA Vikes Fan
Good time for a quick review.........position players placed on the IL must remain there for at least 10 days. Pitchers and two-way players placed on the IL must remain there for at last 15 days. This represents no change from 2023. Placement on either of these ILs may be made retroactively for up to 3 days as long as said player has not appeared in a game. The ability to apply the IL to a player retroactively is why teams often identify lightly injured players as "day to day". If the player shows no significant signs of improvement within 3 days, the team can make a retroactive declaration. Players on either of these ILs may be (and most always are) replaced on the 26 man active roster. Injured position players, pitchers and two-way players may be placed on the 60 day IL. A player on the 60 day IL does not count against the team's active or 40 man rosters. Teams may (and often do) add another player to their 40 man roster. A player may be shifted from the 10 day/15 day IL to the 60 day IL, but not vice-versa. Back in 2011, MLB instituted a 7 day IL as part of their concussion protocol; allowing for a slightly shorter IL stay for players sustaining a blow to the head. Such players may be placed on the longer ILs if needed to ensure their recovery. Last and not least, players recovering from injuries on the 60 day IL may rehab in the minor leagues (while still on the injured list) to ramp up for re-appearing in the MLB. Position players have up to 20 days, while pitchers and two-way players have up to 30 days. Hope this refresher helps!! -
Interesting exercise, Jeremy. Today's protected list changes tomorrow (figuratively). Thought it might be fun to take a look back at what the Twins have lost in previous expansion drafts. 1969 - KC Royals and Seattle Pilots (bankrupt Pilots move to Milwaukee prior to the next season!!??) Bob Oliver (OF/1B), Pat Kelly (OF), Jackie Hernandez (SS) and Jerry Cram (P) to KC Buzz Stephen (P) and Rich Rollins (3B) to Seattle 1977 - Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays Steve Braun (OF) to Seattle Jerry Garvin (P), Al Woods (OF), Bill Singer (P), and Dave McKay (2B/3B) to Toronto 1992 - Florida Marlins and Colorado Rockies Tom Edens (P) to Florida; and traded to Houston Astros for Hector Carrasco (P) and Brian Griffiths (P) Jayhawk Owens (C) to Colorado 1998 - Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Arizona Diamondbacks Brent Brede (1B) and Damian Miller (C) to Arizona None to Tampa

MLR.......on point! Last week we had a very regular poster comment that he did not read an article, then proceed to place "the blame" (his words) on the front office. The article had NOTHING to do with any "blame", it was an observational conversation regarding the impact of Scott Boras on MLB and, most specifically, the Minnesota Twins. Thanks much for your tap on the shoulder! I spent the past hour listening to this interview. No remarkable news, but did provide insight into Rocco's personality, style and mindset.

Twins Expect to Add Starting Pitcher This Offseason
BSLinPA replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Nick.....i wouldnt be surprised if this IS the Twins....actually the first thing that came to my mind when i read on MLBTR. Two years at $5M each for a SP is right in their wheelhouse. His AA numbers when he played here in Hbg, PA over parts of 4 seasons were not shabby. Reports he found "more horizontal" with the slider and tweaked his change-up grip in KBO......where he was league MVP in '23. Uh oh....now i've absolutely convinced myself it IS the Twins. LOL Only thing missing is a cutter!!
