  1. hello Seth......you'll wanna correct the date in headline of today's minor league report.  :-)  Brad

  2. T&R....I find myself agreeing with you nearly all the time, but on this one.........That's building a MLB baseball facility in Minneapolis without a retractable roof!!
  3. Just back from Fort Myers. Inappropriate to call Liam "cooked" (perhaps our definitions differ). Make no mistake, the motivation and determination remain. I fully expect presently non-40 man roster RPs Hendriks, Chafin and Altavilla to contribute at the big league level during 2026. Will it be with the Twins......time will tell. Hendriks and Chafin are Rule XX(B) guys, so if not added to the 26 man roster or the 40 man roster as injured by March 20, they must be granted their unconditional release or be paid a $100,000 retention bonus. Even if retained via the bonus payment, Rule XX(B) provides an opt out date of June 1 if not added to the 26 man roster or the 40 man roster as injured by May 28. If playing competitive baseball, would the Twins "spring" for the extra $100G for another two months' worth of time to decide (further evaluate at StP)? I can envision a scenario in which they could have trade value at the deadline. Appears that while Altavilla has the MLB service time to qualify, he was released by the White Sox prior to the end of the season (ERA at MLB and MiLB was below 2.50 at both levels, with 29 and 26 IP, respectively). Unless opt outs were negotiated as part of his minor league deal, the Twins will have the chance to monitor his performance at StP.
  4. It appears Falvey, Levine and Zoll have established a decent minor league pipeline, mostly on the P side. However, as PBO, Falvey has apparently operated at/created a nearly a half a billion-dollar deficit......so not even break-even while the Twins have had one (maybe two?) solid season in the past eight years. Falvey's MLB program was simply not successful and a money loser. My guess is a potential deal or two were in place to bring in a reliable RP/Closer (or bat?) and they were nixed by ownership. Falvey's credibility with agents is diminished and trade leverage reduced while the 2026 team is mired in mediocrity and losing $$. Seems one of these deals. FALVEY: "Well if that's how you feel about me and what I'm trying to do, then why am I here?". JPOHLAD: "You're here to do what you can pending our approval". FALVEY: "I can't work like that". JP: "OK then we'll find someone who can". That's a textbook mutually agreed upon parting.
  5. Sherry.......the second sentence in this report reads, "Does Ober have the discipline and health to be ready for 2026?" We all recognize that Bailey experienced physical health issues this past season, but is there reason to question his discipline? To what are you referring?
  6. PStL Mets with 33 Stolen Bases vs Mighty Mussels (Sept 2-6). Plenty to be done at the FtM complex/Academy.
  7. I see old friend Chase Petty got the W vs St P in spite of giving up 5 runs in 5.1 IP. He's 5-11 for Louisville with an ERA of 5.74. In 6 innings with the MLB Reds he's given up 14 Hits and 14 Runs. At 22 years old he has time, but work remains. I remain happy with the Sonny Gray trade.
  8. I posted this on Oct 10, 2024: What have the Polad$ done to instill any confidence in what is about to play out?? Expect another circus. Paging Donald Watkins.....lol. Stir in the sway of woke commish Rob Manfred and this could easily become a mess. And nothing good happens if this lingers; thru the off-season or worse yet into the 2025 baseball season (or longer??). This provides another perspective on Thad Levine's departure (he may have jumped off a sinking ship??). I sincerely hope my gut is wrong on this. Hopefully, given that the Pohlad$ have gone public with this, I'm way off base and there is a viable buyer/owners group lined up. Time will tell. JD-Twins, Mike Sixel and NYCTK gave it thumbs down........what part of this posting was "wrong" guys????
  9. correct chpettit19........ Chase Petty was still 21 yrs old on opening day 2025. Both sides received what they had hoped for.....our team in the short term, Reds in the long term. Square deal. And I favor IMLB's Glasnow comp for Ryan's value. But hope he stays.
  10. 24 years old with five years of team control remaining, would be crazy to write off SWR. (not saying anyone has suggested it)
  11. Took just a few clicks to know that your "guess" is wrong. 2023 30 IP/30 APP (NCAA) + 6 IP/2 APP (summer league) 2024 40 IP/22 APP (NCAA) + 19 IP/6 APP (summer league) 2025 38 IP/10 APP (NCAA) - safe bet that he wont be pitching in a summer league!!
  12. I get a kick out of folks who are so anxious to tell others how they should spend their money.....especially when the spending is not necessary. Perhaps the OP will pay our annual fees that we have access to Twins Caretaker Content?? You know, "in the spirit of the game", "free press" and since it means "everything" to some of us. (sarc noted) I love the Carson McCusker story. I hope he becomes a MLB regular and reaps all the benefits to which he will be entitled. Jocko87 is on the mark.......the CBA is the employment rulebook. Both sides have signed off on it and shall abide by it....no tears, no susprises, no refunds. Important issues will be negotiated in the future.......this matter not will not be among them.
  13. Any Twins fan that spent time in Ft Myers during Spring Training over the past 7 or 8 years has gotta be pulling for Randy. He takes the time to make himself available to every fan he encounters. We remember how it looked like he was putting it all together in Spring Training of 2021, adding a "new pitch" (reported mostly as a slider, i thought it was a split finger/sinker) that enabled him to average nearly 1 K per inning. As the result, the front office signed him to the multi-year contract. However, it was this first "new pitch" that caused Randy years of hand injury/misery/struggles. It be great if this second "new pitch" enabled his full time return to MLB. Keep pushing, Dobber.....we're with ya!!
  14. Remember all of these....except Sean Doolittle. Would a fellow TDer please refresh my memory?
  15. We'd all be thrilled if this were to happen, but...............let's regain our senses. Why wouldn't this young man, hoping for a long MLB career with a live arm, want to pitch the first 6 weeks of the season in freezing temps? Then, if the team performs well enough, there's the opportunity to do it again at the end of the season! (The decision NOT to build a retractable roof stadium contiues to pay dividends.) And, yes.....ice fishing very big in Asia.
  16. Somethin' tells me that ******* is not the word "PITCHER". :-) So I'm relieved you didn't put a comma after the word "this" and the seven asterisks!! You're correct, apparently a subject about which we do/will not agree.......no prob with that here, MS. (tried unsuccessfully to PM you) GO TWINS!!
  17. Wow.....interesting that you know Trevor so well. Please do share this personal knowldge......beyond that which you've only read.
  18. According to Sports Illustrated, Ynoa had one option remaining in 2024 Atlanta Braves: Expectations for Huascar Ynoa in 2024 and Beyond - Sports Illustrated Atlanta Braves News, Analysis and More . Looks like that was used on March 18, 2024 Huascar Ynoa Stats, Age, Position, Height, Weight, Fantasy & News | MiLB.com
