  1. Would also include Santana in the group of players to cash assets in on if the right deal comes along later this year.
  2. Too early to tell. Polanco has issues with arm strength. Bigger problem discussed above is Dozier, though I am of the group the feels he should be the one traded and bring a big return back after this year. Might approach and see if Dozier will sign a long term team friendly contract, if not and if the twins feel Polanco is an answer, may be time to cash assets.
  3. This seems like a projection. Do not mind it, but have concerns here. Could work out, but is that what the Twins want from there last high pick(hopefully for years)
  4. Twins can probably afford a big swing and a miss, though this will be their last top 10 appearance for years, so should probably not take it. I am of the BPA thought, but you can never have enough pitching, so tend to lean that way. Sure thing pitchers in this draft, do not seem to exist, so hopefully twins take a SS or an outfielder.
  5. Think I will consider this season a success if 2 of the 3 above(may, Pelfrey, Nolasco) are not in the rotation at the seasons end because of better preferances from starters coming up. Hope Nolasco and Pelfrey show enough to bring a return in the form of prospects from another club. Many clubs should be looking for starting pitching at this time.
  6. Gonsalves - cannot see him not making the major, most lefties get several chances and worst would be a LOOGY. Thorpe - Should be lower until next year or two years to prove he is back Think Rogers should be lower and Duffey higher just because of upside. Could see Kepler cracking the top 10 by the end of the year.
  7. Hicks worked hard to find his way into Molitor's doghouse. Molitor was one of the most prepared professionals to play the game, if your head is not in the game, then you will not be playing for the Twins. I believe it is not the stats, but the issues in Hicks's head that are keeping him in Rochester. That may take longer than most posters think to fix. It could be Hicks's future is not here, but do not want to give him away without a chance(read Carlos Gomez). Some players just take longer to figure things out. This was the major knock on Bill Smith, he deferred to Gardy way too much. But Terry Ryan has the problem of (if Hicks is going to be in the doghouse for having his head not in the game and Molitor does not want to use him then what choice does Terry Ryan have). Hicks has very limited trade value at this time and I do not want a repeat of Carlos Gomez given away. Make sure Hicks understands the game before he comes to Minnesota.
  8. Phillies would want a lot for Hamels, and if Sano or Buxton were not included might be 2 or 3 of the Twins top 10 minor leaguers. That would be too much for a pitcher that is over 30. And I like Hamels
  9. I am guessing at midseason or September. Remember the problems with Hicks when he was rushed. I guess he makes Rochester in June and then we will see after that
  10. Twins are taking the long term approach. If Hicks is to be useful, he needs to eliminate the mental mistakes(that is more of an issue to Molitor than his hitting). Players without their heads in the game, cannot be at the major league level. Give Hicks until July and then see what the decision is. Rosario is probably a short term callup until Arcia returns. Do not read a lot into this. The plan for Rosario is to make him want to be here and improve his play until he forces his way here. The better question is which of Arcia or Vargas gets squeezed out in the long term.
  11. Taking one of the two pitchers that have had TJ surgery is a risk. Twins are now at the point in their system with not a consensus talent this year, I would role the dice on Aiken, depending on his meds. More top of the line pitching.
  12. Escobar is about 25 or 26. He is not viewed as a long term solution(he could be just not expected). Your line would almost put Santana back in center field and make Escobar the shortshop. That may not be all bad, but just waste another year of development of Twins youngsters that will be the next wave. If Santana does not improve by early to mid 2016, it will be time to move on, but a few weeks is a small sample. Escobar does not have the projected upside of Santana or many of the Twins minor league players coming up. Twins need to find out want they have, so moves can be made to strengthen the ballclub. Santana is one of the group of upcoming Twins that have the type of speed that can change games, Kansas City is a very good example of what speed does with just average on base skills.
  13. It's only a week. Good pitching will cure a lot. Bullpen will need to be addressed, just give it a couple of weeks
  14. Looks like a good to very good team. Will be interested to see where they finish.
  15. I expect T Jones will get a chance somewhere else, only because of his velocity. Koch is probably org filler and with all the catchers the Twins have signed the last couple of years, no longer needed.
  16. Was also there yesterday Duensing is now only a LOOGY. Graham did a nice job in the 7th. Hope to see some of you today, will be in the minor league area late morning with my wife and then going to the game.
  17. Some of the offence may be relative. Twins are going to see 78 games against teams with above average starting pitching. That will somewhat dampen the offense. Most of the division clubs (except Detroit) has good to great bullpens. Good pitching will still beat good hitting, so will be interesting to see how the Twins hit, plus regression from Santana and Vargas may make the offense not as good as people expect.
  18. Twins also need to sell tickets. Another 90+ loss season will not help. You go with your best 25 and if things do not work out make the changes. Bullpen could implode either way. Would not want to increase the changes of that.
  19. I have always liked pitchers with stuff. I hope both Graham and Boyer make the team depending on the last two weeks of spring training. Either Stauffer or a starter will be the long man. Will wait and see how Plefrey does in the next two weeks. Both Milone and May have options, so if all things are equal I think Plefrey wins the fifth starter battle and depending on Stauffer, either Milone or May could be the long man, depending on warmup times. Graham will probably get his feet wet in mop roles and Boyer could well wind up the 7th inning man. BTW - I hope this all changes by July and we see the young troops arrive. This bullpen could totally implode and end the Twins season early and like others I would almost like to see Burdi start here and some of the other flame throwers by mid season. Hopefully the Twins will still be competitive by then.
  20. hoping to meet some of you tomorrow. Will be at the park for a good part of the day.
  21. Oliveros has already been sent out. I think it is possible that if all the Twins starters continue to pitch well in the next couple of weeks, there will be a trade at the end of spring training. It is still early only next week will we see the regulars and players with a chance of making the roster play most of the time. When relievers start seeing major league hitters in the late innings things will change. Too much stress over the first two weeks of games.
  22. Not surprised. I could see Rosario making it to start the season or a platoon of Schafer and Robinson at that time. If Santana is back in center field, it means all options have failed.
  23. I have more of a feeling the Hunter will be traded to a club that needs him and is willing to give something useful back to the Twins at the end of July or in August. That is presuming the Twins are not contending this year. Twins need to make room toward the end of the year for the prospects arriving and Hunter's role would greatly diminish at that time. This all assumes that Vargas will make the team out of spring training. Do not see that as written in stone.
  24. Twins have many decisions to make. I can understand that Molitor would only want players around who have a chance of making the club. You only have so many inning and Ab's to parcel out.
  25. Nice article, I have tickets in Fort Myers for a game in two weeks, so hoping to meet a few people down there.
