  1. Also might look at Linecum who will be an FA at the end of this year. Twins need to spent money on pitching, might as well start with possible top of rotation candidates.
  2. Josh Johnson may be an FA this offseason, so that would be reasonable. Where is Kohl Steward as I would expect he would be to at least New Britain by 2015. Nice article and guess for that period. May have Bryon Buxton up here by 2015, expect Parmelee to be gone. Some of the minors may be gone by then, but all in all a nice guess.
  3. Let Sano finish in AA. Then start him next year in AAA and see how he does. That will determine when he comes up. Rosario about the same, though he has been consistant in AA and may have a chance to start next year in the major leagues. Dozier is doing better so he will probably start in AAA next year.
  4. Do not see the Twins making a trade. Maybe if something happened tonight, but unlikely. Carroll would be a good trade at this time, he is just taking AB's away from players we need to find out about. May have to bundle players to get a return, TR should try.
  5. Being in the playoffs certainly helps get players ready for the major league playoff pushes and conditions them to win. This also shows that the Twins farm clubs have the talent to win so hopefully some of it will help in the majors.
  6. I think we would lose Wimmers to a poor team if we did not protect him. Some team would claim him, stash him in the bullpen and lose a year of him with hope for the future in 2-3 years Not as worried about Vargas as current clubs are constructed it is hard to stash a hitter. Twins should have enough spots for most of the players that need to be protected. Just do not make a mistake.
  7. Trade still has to make sense. It makes more sense to trade Doumit if you are talking about freeing up AB's. Then Arcia can replace Thomas. My feeling is that Arcia and Parmelee will not be back until September as they were sent to Rochester to be part of a hopefully playoff run. The best part of trading Morneau will be to see if Colabello can man first base at least for the next couple of seasons. I still believe trading him is best, get some return rather than none when he leaves at the end of the season. I used to believe that we should resign him. Now I believe we are better off looking in a different direction and using the freed up money on starting pitching in the offseason.
  8. Key is they are facing teams that are not great in hitting for this period. Twins starting pitching will look better against those teams. I am more interested in how the starting pitching does against teams that can hit. Agree with prior poster that the Twins will have to invest in FA pitching next year to take the next step. And yes team outlook does not an affect on where FA's want to go. Remember TR's comment last year the Twins could not get players to take their money
  9. I think the point was, that Sano has to understand what he did was wrong, it only would make thing worse for the next hitter or the next time he came to the plate when the pitcher might want to put on in his ear. That can affect a career.
  10. Looking is a lot different than making offers. Several clubs might be interested just as last year if all the Twins were looking at was a salary dump.
  11. Did not see anything worthwhile on the trade list. Means TR would be taking projections or projects. A real risk as most of those are at very low levels.
  12. I think that 3/20 or 2/16 will be low if he continues to pitch well. If you get a decent offer trade him, else offer him like 3/24 or 27 and see. We need starting pitching the next 2 years and Pelfrey may be the best priced pitcher we can sign without breaking the bank(and I hope they sign one major FA pitcher(need to excite the fan base)).
  13. Does not look like we have options for Diamond at this time. Too bad, We cannot afford to have a full 40 man roster incase we take more players than we sell at this time.
  14. You can never have enough good prospects. Most of them do not pan out anyway. It's an indentification and numbers game. The more good prospects you have usually the better results in what that group produces turns out.
  15. I enjoy watching him, and yes I would pencil him into next years rotation, and I said pencil.

    Marcum Waived

He had surgery and is unlikely to pitch this year according to MLBtraderumors, so no. In the offseason maybe if he is cheap enough.
  17. Expect Morneau to be traded, would not be surprised if Casey Fien was also (time to sell high on him). Burton could be. Doumit is not having a good enough year to bring a decent return. Do not expect teams to overpay for Perkins, though I hope if the offer is good enough TR trades him.
  18. Would hope the Twins would find the money to sign him. We need major league ready starting pitching ASAP.
  19. Yes, but marginally better is better. That being said, I would prefer the Twins to spend their money in the off season for higher level pitchers.
  20. MLB now has the evidence needed to prove its cases. (I believe). Most of the remainder will be the length of the suspensions, not the fact they will be suspended.
  21. The is the gamble of quantity over quality. Twins will have between 20-30 million to spend this year and hopefully most if not all will be on starting pitching. Might be better to spend for 1 $15 million a year guy and 1 $10 million a year guy. Getting it right will be the issue. Also the Twins have the problem of looking non competitive next year (though probably better as more of the young kids come up). Pelfrey probably would not be a bad signing depending on the price if he continues to pitch well.
  22. He needs to be sent down to regroup. Twins need to find another roster pitcher to come up.
  23. Cleveland looks like defense optional. That does not bood well for their chances.
  24. Yes, Trading Morneau will hurt a lot of his and Twins fans. He will just take up salary space this offseason and the Twins with a payroll of about $50 million starting the offseason, will need to spend close to $30 million extra a year on starting pitching.
  25. Parmelee does not look like a winner. Twins still need to see if he can cut if, but he is looking to me like a AAAA player, there have been plenty of those. Maybe he needs a change of scenery or a new manager. If Morneau is traded he needs to be played 6 days a week in August and then see how he fares. My feeling is that he either is not a major league player or he cannot stand the pressure and will never make it as he will be fine if the Twins are out of it, but not at the start of the season.
