  1. Unlikely either Fien or Thielbar would bring a significant return. Therefore they should be hung onto. Perkins should be dealt if the return is so good that they deal would be one-sided in the Twins favor, or prospects are projectable to a major league level.
  2. Agree they should leave the spot open until a player needs to be added. If starting pitching is an issue 2 weeks from now could be Albers, but lets not give up all our depth in pitching to other orgainizations looking for AAA filler at this time.
  3. Expect there may be a few trades. It will not matter for this year and probably not in the future. Only trade in the future would be Perkins and the Twins better get a very good deal to trade him. I can see Morneau being traded, but would like to see what he wants for a contract first, do not like Parmelle. But will see what this year brings. Domit might be traded, but would probably not bring enough value to ship. Problem with the Twins this year is no big talent to trade except Perkins.
  4. This is just a temporary situation where Burton and Duensing have not been preforming well. It will be good to see what Thielbar can do and Duensing may be traded or be too expensive next year for the Twins.
  5. All offers should be listened to. It would still take a steal of a deal to trade Perkins. How many clubs are suffering with subpar closers and have already blown more than 5 games from the 8 inning on.
  6. Diamond may have to find it in Rochester. Twins need to have starters that go 6 innings up here. Keep the auditions coming, Walters I expect will be the first one out and it may be before his next start on Wednesday. Twins cannot afford 2 short starts in 3 days. Time for Walters to go.
  7. Florimon has done a decent job at this time. Give it to at least the end of the year to see what happens. Players coming are not ready and so it will probably be at least 2015 before a player moves up to here and can play SS
  8. do not know range stats but his hitting is good. looks like a core gut to me.
  9. Would like to get Lee, if he is a salary dump, Twins have better low end prospects than most clubs, do not see the Phillies selling Lee or the Twins buying unless they stay close for the next month. Agree with Brock, very small chance.
  10. Do not like losing for the sake of losing. It can become a culture. Twins are far closer to rebuilding than most of the examples here. Most of the bad examples sold off their high price talent almost all the time. Their was no core to help the young players get over the hump. Here there is the core, hope it works out. That said selling parts that will not be of use 2 - 3 years from now should be done if you can get a good return. Unless that player really wants to be here, then it becomes an issue of what example are you setting. This is why the Morneau issue is such a problem.
  11. Think Nate Roberts who has been an on base machine is rated too low. He has not played this year and we tend to forget about him. Angel Mata I believe is no longer in the organization. Outside of that a good list, but who knows what this will look like at the end of the year.
  12. I believe this above comment is unjustified as TR has gone to drafting pitchers with stuff. You still need some 4-5 rotation types for a while, but most of the Twins higher pitching prospects have swing and miss stuff. Now we hope they will work out, or TR may have to find another Johan is a trade.
  13. Looks like he is ready for the next step. Depends on what is at AA to stop him from moving up. The wave is coming!
  14. Depends on what the offers are. I could see Morneau being traded, he may not want a team friendly extension. Rest of them, depends on price, I could see the ire on this site being raised, if TR gets only a couple of class A players for some of the trades. I do believe these are the best type, risk, but high rewards if the pan out.
  15. I would guess Walters would be the one out at this time. Gardy is a realist, he knows he needs the youngsters to grow up to win. He once was a minor league manager. So they will get chances. If the Twins pitch better could be around .500 this year. That would be way above expectations.
  16. Congrats to Buxton. Will see what he can do. If he rakes in Ft. Myers, he should start next year in AA. Maybe the majors next year.
  17. Toughest jump is from High A to AA. He will be fine after the adjustment period.
  18. No, Parmelee needs to be packaged with one or two of the Twins players to upgrade the prospects we receive in return. If the Twins set up the expectation that Parmelee has no value, he will not be good for us.
  19. Very few of these guys stand out, with the Pirates prospects being the most interesting. Probably will be some name we have not heard of. TR is good in coming up with these. Nice article though.
  20. I am worried about this because I do not think Parmelee is the answer. That is being born out by how Gardy is using him. No one knows the market value at this time, because injuries can change how a team looks at things. Given his value the Twins would have to let him walk to get a decent contract, but he can probably find better elsewhere. Would love to sign Morneau if it does not break the bank 8 - 9 mil a year for a couple of years would fit.
  21. A little of both. Dozier was always a decent hitter in the minors, he could be learning to hit at this level. Another month or so will tell the tale.
  22. Do not like the thought of trading Plouffe. He has value and you would be selling low. At worst he is a platoon player, at best a lower middle of the order hitter. Not bad options until the rest of the Twins minors arrive. Most of those will probably fail anyway.
  23. He should be pushed as fast as he can. Cedar Rapids would be nice. Hopefully most of the Twins pitching should be here in the next 4 years.
  24. Do not read too much into the meetings. Trades for the sake of trades are not a good thing. As far as spending more money, believe the Twins will do that when they have a chance to compete. Major league attendance does not equal the same money. Remember ticket prices are much higher on the coasts than here. This is the sort out year, finding out who can contribute in the future and who will fall be the wayside. Pitching has been very good this month, but hitting has not been consistent.
  25. Ryan has changed since his first stint as GM. Pitch to contact has been changed for the newly drafted pitchers, he has traded from strength to add arms to the Twins arsenal. Will all of these moves work, of course not, some will fail. He is trying. Money will be spent when the Twins are in position to win. That will not be this year and probably not next. At this time the Twins are trying to see what hitters will be able to help and which hitters are good AAA players that will not succeed at the major league level(at the current time read Parmelee, but there may be others). Outfielders will need to step up as there are many coming. Many of the posters just want the Twins to spend money and hope it works, Yankees may become the poster child of this era if the PED charges are upheld and many of their players in the last 10 years where PED users. Money does not cure everything, look at the Dodgers.
