Hunter, let's say hypothetically the Twins were talking to the Royals regarding Brady Singer. He is starting to get a bit more expensive with arbitration, and I think (hat tip to Brandon Warne) Singer could be an option for a guy that 1) Has years of control, 2) Is young, and 3) probably has another gear to achieve at the mlb level, either by tweaking his pitch mix or working with Maki and company (TM) to clean up his fastball. I don't think he would cost Brooks Lee, but I would very much be interested if someone like Singer could be a target too. Thoughts? Do you hate this idea? Would the Royals even trade him in division? I don't see him becoming a playoff level starter where he is, but an arm like him COULD get there with the Twins.

I do think, eventually, Lee will be the 3b and Lewis at 2b. Brock Beauchamp mentioned that a bit ago, and it makes a world of sense to me.

I'm primarily a radio listener too, so it'll take some getting used to for me. And who knows, maybe Marney will have a place too, either tv or radio, I would love that also. Certainly having her there would be better than Gladden in my opinion, by a LARGE margin.

LOVE him on the radio, and I'm sure he'll be great on TV too. I really like Attebury in many ways too. The hires/spots for them are good ones.

Agreed on this. Good for Steer to get an opportunity he wouldn't have gotten here, and CES is a DH only who isn't a star. They are getting a chance with a team that they wouldn't have gotten here.

I wouldn't trade him for Edward Cabrera, unless quite a bit more was coming back. I can't today slot Cabrera above Ryan or Ober, so that wouldn't work for me. He MIGHT get to his ceiling some day, but he isn't close yet. Gilbert I could see, but I don't know how much more we would have to add. I'd be open to that. Peralta I really like quite a lot, but even with the team control, his career high in innings came last year and that was 165. He threw 144 one other time, and other than that hasn't been over 80. If they believe he has the ability to push 180 innings per year or more, then I might go that route too. I LOVE Arozarena, that thought is interesting. How about someone like Framber Valdez? I don't know why Arizona would do it, but Zac Gallen is a name I've loved for years too.

I don't see the value of adding a backend starter to the rotation. I just don't. Maybe as the 2nd guy they would add, but they SHOULD be shooting to add someone who they would be comfortable starting in a playoff game. I don't know what that looks like, and it doesn't have to be a NAME guy, but creativity will be important compared to settling.

Who is the pitcher you trade Lee for? It had better be someone with more than 3 years team control who would immediately step ahead of pre-injury Joe Ryan of 2023. The list of guys is pretty short right? I guess I’ve started to focus more on the guys who are good NOW, and would be a free agent sooner.

I do believe Ryan and Ober are close to playoff level starters. Some improvement from both of them (maybe even just getting pre-injury Ryan) will help the overall staff’s numbers right? But for sure either this offseason, or at the trade deadline, be ready to add a high level guy

I don't put Montas in the same book as Shoemaker, as he has had actual success before. But yeah, I'd prefer someone who was healthy at least at the end of 2023 compared to Montas

I do think Paddack is going to, at minimum, cover the production that Maeda had in 2023 (100ish innings, low 4 era) and there is a chance he improves on that level. I'm curious who the primary addition will be. This offseason is set to be super interesting for a ton of reasons.

I definitely want them to bring in at least one major league contract reliever who will be on the roster opening day. But Trivino would ALSO be a great add.

I mean, Falvey's direct quote was that he didn't anticipate the 2024 payroll equalling where they got to in 2023. It wasn't his quote that gave the range of 125-140. That's just an educated guess (or maybe from other sources) that Dan Hayes reported. I'm sure there is thought behind that range/guess, but that's NOT a direct quote from Falvey. Or at least, I haven't seen it that way.

I never meant to say he ONLY has 2 pitches. I just think if he were to go to the bullpen and ONLY throw his 2 best pitches (cutter being one of them) he is probably more effective than using 3 pitches in a starting role. They are starting to show (in my opinion) quite a lot of starting depth that should begin the year at AA. Otherwise, getting more pitching is always a good thing.

Nah, I never expected him back. If the pen, in my opinion, consists of Duran, Jax, Funderburk, Thielbar, Stewart and Varland, then I'd imagine they can add a long guy (or have Winder be that) and another guy right? So something like Ryne Stanek and Nick Martinez, to me, would fill out the bullpen. But there are certainly lots of other options. But yeah, opening day, if the bullpen consists of that, I'd say they would have a STRONG bullpen.

I can see these happening, but I agree with the previous commenter; Bader AND Carlson on this team don't make a ton of sense to me. I do think Keller would be a dream get, and if the Twins were to acquire him, I think it would hurt more in terms of prospects. I'd imagine Pittsburgh would want prospect arms coming back instead of hitters with Wallner. Something like Festa and Raya with Wallner probably gets the conversation started.

Yeah, I expect that too, but they will "spend" players/prospects/assets in that sense to acquire instead of money on the free agent market. For example, let's say they hypothetically add Edward Cabrera of the Marlins (this is JUST hypothetical.) They will have to trade a few decent prospects for him, right (don't worry about the player's right now, this is JUST hypothetical.) Cabrera is set to make between 800k and 1million for 2024. That number won't make a dent in the payroll, right? IF instead they were to trade for Tyler Glasnow (who is set to earn 25 million in 2024) then that would have an affect on 2024 payroll right?

Not that I've seen, but since Dan Hayes reported they are optimistic on something, I have to think SOMETHING is coming in the next couple of months on that front.

Hard to guess to much in November when really, this is all a hurry up and wait right? I'd imagine the moves the Twins make won't happen until January at the earliest, or at least that's when they usually start. I just want the moves to happen NOW :) But yeah, I'd guess they are talking more in the 140 range at minimum, and I personally wouldn't be shocked if they did end up at 160. So the hand-wringing, I just can't do that on 11/29. Hand-wringing over roster/payroll, for me, will happen a week before opening day.
