  1. Bullpen game for the Giants? Maybe that explains the mixed righty-lefty lineup.
  2. With the injuries to two starters and SWR's apparent struggles, I would rate Headrick as the first option for a spot start for the Twins. I think keeping him available for that spot precludes him from being a candidate for the major league bullpen at this time. The same argument might be made for Woods Richardson.
  3. The other "26" thing about Castro is his age. Despite having more than 1000 big-league at-bats, he was born the same year as Kirilloff and Larnach.
  4. Gallo had left the previous game with a pretty bad bruise on his leg from a foul ball and I do believe Rocco will protect Kirilloff a little by giving him days off since he started the season late.
  5. I'm glad you listed Ortega. He was out for a month with an injury, but has big league credentials.
  6. Gallo also doesn't have dramatic platoon splits, but Larnach and particularly Max Kepler, do (have dramatic platoon splits).
  7. As the season has worn on, Castro is getting more and more playing time and justifying that decision with more and more hits. He hasn't started a game at shortstop, but otherwise he has shown he is trusted everywhere and he hasn't let the club down in the field, to date. I've thought all along there is value in what he brings to the ballpark every day and it seems to be bearing out at this point.
  8. It was an interesting road trip for Kirilloff. He didn't start against two of the three left handers, but got pinch hits in both of those games. His overall numbers for the week weren't spectacular--.273 BA, .788 OPS--but he got a lot of big hits. He didn't walk, and had seven Ks. I think he will be a very good first baseman if allowed to stay there. He made two very nice plays yesterday. Rocco has shown he prefers Gallo in the outfield and AK at first when both are in the game. I think that is the correct call.
  9. I think you meant "back", but you might have been right the first time.
  10. Honestly, I like all of the guys for a limited time. Bert Blyleven wore on me after all the years he did analysis and I think any of the guys doing color would do the same after a while.
  11. Given the bullpen usage yesterday, I wonder if they try Lopez for the seventh.
  12. It looks like Willi got a late start on that short fly. That is a couple where he hasn't gotten a good jump.
  13. Yeah, I like him too. Note my moniker photo.
  14. 99 pitches. Shohei has been all that was promised.
  15. Good job Pablo. That was going to be tough after the lead off walk.
  16. I stand by my statement that if he is healthy Alex Kirilloff's floor is Will Clark defense and Mark Grace offense and his ceiling is Will Clark offense and Mark Grace defense.
  17. The missed strike three comes back to haunt.
  18. Agree and it appears the Angels have just about redone their bullpen.
