  1. Royce has single-handedly solved the Twins bases loaded problem. With the bases loaded this season, he is 6-11 with four homers and 20 (!) RBI. That a 2.219 OPS.
  2. Kopech with a temper tantrum in the dugout. I suppose he is a little frustrated, especially with getting drilled by a Castro line drive.
  3. Duran might not pitch for another week.
  4. If he makes the postseason, that and a platoon start would be his roles.
  5. Luplow got a chance to face a LH reliever, a role he will see in postseason, if he makes the roster. Kirilloff and Julien got chances to face a lefty. If the Twins absolutely had to win this game, I’m pretty sure they both would have been replaced by pinch hitter.
  6. Julien has shown himself to be less than instinctive as a fielder and base runner. He has special hitting skills, so we can put up with some of the quirks and deficits. I believe more experience will help with his issues, including hitting left handed pitching.
  7. I think it is more complex than just benching Arraez against lefties. A guy like Arraez probably isn't good for 150 or even 145 games. Miami is seeing the fade right now and he faded last year for the Twins aided by injury. If you are going to rest Arraez for 20 games, it would be advisable to rest him against left handed pitchers. Yes, not starting him on Opening Day was beyond the pale, but playing him too much is probably counterproductive. The same with the Joe Mauers of baseball. As for pinch-hitting with the platoon advantage, that shouldn't be for established regulars, but the Twins don't have many of them.
  8. The Twins are underperforming their Pythagorean W-L by four games, which means they are eight games closer to .500 than their runs scored would indicate. Is that Rocco's fault? If they had continued their hitting performance of the first half, I think it would be easier to blame him. The club hasn't been good in one-run games and they've turned in a fair number of poor-hitting efforts. Personally, I think more bullpen arms and more diversified offense would have made them better in close games. Some of Baldelli's strategy is suspect to me. I don't think his use of the bullpen has been suspect and he looks a lot smarter about pulling starters when he has better starters.
  9. Either Winder or Headrick will have their appearance as a lovely parting gift.
  10. Man, I totally disagree. I've gone to multiple games every year since the Twins came to Minnesota and games that have dragged on usually have people complaining about how long the game is. The Twins have been out of the race more often than not by this time of the year and I've gone to some 8-4 type of games with tons of mid-inning pitching changes and wondered when the game would end. I had the half season SRO pass in 2017 and left a lot of games early because of the length of games.
  11. Maeda and Ober have filled out the bottom of the rotation very well.
  12. Probably Duran for the ninth unless the Twins score some more.
  13. A ton of 2-0 counts, but so far no walks.
  14. That is how you keep that ERA around 9.
  15. Don't pitchers get 30 days? Regardless, they will have to be added to the 40-man. Someone will need to be sent down tomorrow when Ober is recalled.
  16. Apparently no damage done by the Sox or the field.
  17. Turned ankle. I was worried it was something a lot worse.
  18. Yes. Yesterday I saw an ump check a relief pitcher's hands as he came into the game. That was a first, that I have seen.
  19. I imagine there aren't many watching this game.
  20. His regular season is not salvageable. But he can wash away a lot of that if he plays well in the postseason.
  21. Either way, since all of Alcalá, Gordon and Stewart will be rehabbing, there will have to be two corresponding moves when the rehab assignments expire.
