  1. Yes, it would be great to sneak into the #2 seed, but it would nice to have a better record than whoever doesn’t make the postseason. I really don’t want hear national people saying the Twins didn’t deserve to make the postseason based on their record. Right now, they’re tied with Seattle and trail the other possible Wild Cards.
  2. Good point and I share your concern. While he is having a decent (half) year, he just hasn’t done much with middle-in pitches, especially the down and in pitches that are in most lefty’s “nitro zone”.
  3. Not me. They've got way better arms available. He gives up too much contact and has to be very fine with his pitches.
  4. On a serious note, this has been a positive development this season. I was afraid teams would run wild on the Twins this year, partly because of the catchers and mostly because of the pitchers. It really hasn't happened and the Twins have stolen bases efficiently, in large measure because of Castro. At one point the Twins had stolen more bases than were stolen against them and with a higher stolen base percentage. I don't know if that is still the case, but they haven't been dominated in the stolen base part of the running game.
  5. Duran should probably be on the postseason active roster. /s/
  6. Cole's two-hit shutout of the Jays most likely clinches the ERA crown and Cy Young for him, if he hadn't wrapped it up already.
  7. I'd say he's looking better, not quite to good.
  8. I believe it is Seattle, as things stand and that would make the Twins the #3 seed.
  9. I don't think Funderburk has 98, but everyone else can reach those velocities.
  10. Despite all the strikeouts, the Twins have a Top Ten offense. They've raised their team OPS to .749 and have been much better since the All-Star break. In their last five games, they face the two teams that have allowed the most runs in MLB, so their numbers figure to improve on offense. On the flip side, the Twins have allowed the fewest runs in the AL, fueled by a starting rotation that is top five in about every stat but victories. They are playing their best baseball right now.
  11. Good health the rest of the way and recovery from Correa and particularly Lewis would make the Twins very dangerous in the postseason. I know he's going to slump and strike out a lot, but I've come around a long way on Matt Wallner. The Twins have a deep roster where not one position player deserved to be an All-Star, but their 13th and 14th guys are good major league players. I like the way the bullpen looks and it could be better than good depending on how Paddack, Stewart and Maeda come back and adjust to their roles. Bailey Ober looks like the odd man out for the first round and his stuff looked outstanding today.
  12. It will cap off a really good day if Stewart has a good inning.
  13. Thanks. My son lives in Austin and you can find a lot of barbecue, but not many cowboy hats.
  14. Give him another appearance or two. The stuff looks pretty good.
  15. Command seems to have slipped away from Paddack. BTW, what is the story with the nickname “the Sheriff”?
  16. The role for him, like Varland and Maeda, in the postseason would be multi-inning reliever.
  17. The kid on the mound for Oakland/Las Vegas is going to be good.
  18. Vázquez—somebody has to make outs.
  19. Yeah, I’m a Twins fan and you always think your club has a chance, but if Lewis and Correa are healthy, look out American League.
  20. Didn’t go quite as far, but still counts.
  21. I've seen a couple of players go less than full speed (Solano and Julien on the bases, Polanco running to first) and I don't have a problem with that.
  22. Pretty quick turn to get Ruiz on a GDP.
