  1. What a joke this has turned into
  2. So is the thought they rest GArvers legs for tomorrow game for an 0-3 at bat appearance. Jeffers should start again tomorrow since you have now rested his legs and has been clearly the best hitter of the catching group.
  3. Now Avila is catching. WTF is going on.
  4. Way to swing the bat Garver! What a joke of a pinch hit appearance
  5. soft line drive against the shift started that rally. No shift, it is caught by SS... The shift is way overused
  6. Plate discipline severely lacking on some guys. Not a single strike was thrown in the last at bat
  7. huge breaking ball to buxton and he could have sat back and drove it the other way. looking to pull the ball and thus not looking to cover the zone. Not good baseball
  8. terrible baseball at bats there with runners on.
  9. small ball is crucial and Twins choose not to.
  10. solid at bat by Jeffers. My limited posts I have said he isn't afraid of working the count. many 2 strike at bats, and almost all his hits have come with 2 strikes. Plate presence is phenomenal. I like him back there. He is going to be good for long time
  11. 1st inning could bite us in the you know what
  12. Let the 28 man roster thoughts go wild now. Kirillof better lefty power pop bat for pinch hit vs a guy like Avila in late game situation. He has no history in bigs, opposing team will have no book on him. Interesting move for sure.
  13. So there are 10 transitions listed yesterday for twins. Optioned or Recalled. Is this tied to end of the year and status changes or playoff pool 40 man allocations tied to regular season over?
  14. Could be Buxton protection as well with Kirillof
  15. Interesting move for Kirillof vs Wade. Kirillof has more power pop in his bat and not to concerned that it is protection for Cruz or Sano. I'm thinking Kirillof gives you more pop for late inning lefty batter vs. Avila who doesn't have the pop. So I could see Avila being left off 28 man if they went 14 pitchers 14 batters.
  16. Does Garver get the start? My gut tells me Rocco will put him in there for game one, don't agree with it, but my gut says he does. Avila shouldn't be on 28 man active for any playoff series. Defensive catcher that some say is the best on squad but he such a weak link at the plate. Jeffers, pleasant surprise and has the goods both offensive and defensive. Plate discipline by him is superior to the other two, not afraid of getting to 2 strikes to put ball in play or get his pitch. Let the fun begin tomorrow!
  17. How would a alternate site work for 12 pool guys? Do they stay at home in St. Paul for the neutral site games and then have to hop on plane to California? Just curious
  18. Taxi squad of 5 players in play for playoffs I believe so if that is the case, then you can carry fringe guys for situational as you state based on injuries, etc. There are no rest days once a series starts until you get to the WS round where the traditional off day (2 of them ) appear. So once a series starts, then you let it rip for x amount straight days. Let the paper strategy commence
  19. I'm a fan of Jeffers when you read the back stories about being sponge, willing to try new things to become a better catcher. Not saying the other guys haven't done it either but it shows the student in Jeffers and his Physics background coming into play. In my other limited posts I talk about plate discipline and Jeffers has it. I believe all his or almost all of hits have come with 2 strikes. His 3 homers have been on the following counts: 1st - full count, 2nd 1-1 count and 3rd was 2-2 count. His ability to work the count, see pitches shows discipline. Shows discipline for his full game in general. Old philosophy of you shouldn't lose your job due to injury is commendable and getting Garver some reps is nice, but Avila should be odd man out.
  20. 28 player roster for playoffs is nice, don't think we need to carry 15 pitchers for first series though as you only need 3 starters, let's hope just use 2 starters and get out of there with series W and not have to play a 3rd game. Pull the plug on Odorizzi for remainder of season, can't rely on him at this moment in time. If Arraez is back end of this week for playoffs, who get's pulled from 28 man active roster? I would think one of the 4th, 5th or 6th starting pitchers for first round of play offs isn't needed. Or do you pull the plug on Poppen in bullpen. Avila hasn't done anything and are you really worried you need a L batter from your catcher spot? You could sit him down and let Garver/Jeffers be the catcher workhorses.
  21. Best of 3, so the focus should be on who is top 2 in rotation and then figure out 3. If we all agree Maeda and Berrios, then shift the starts this week accordingly. Whoever is your 3, then adjust as well, wether Pineda, Hill, etc. I like the Maeda, Berrios, Pineda rotation. End the series in 2 games and hope other wild cards go 3 games, then you pick up an extra day of rest and can set up your 5 game rotation accordingly. Win the week, you play at home and give the Yanks a Bomb-ass whooping
  22. After last night, Yankees in 4 spot and Twins head to Yankee Stadium. Missed opportunities last night with other teams losing. Rocco's lineups are very puzzling. Too many analytic predictive models over playing guys that are more effective
  23. You have to find a way to move Buxton to 2nd in the 9th. Put your pride aside and make Donaldson bunt the guy over. If he chooses not to, then let him kick dirt in the dugout and watch the game from the bench. No excuse for not executing small ball there. Here is where I would have had someone else bat 3rd in lineup, and Cruz at 4-hole. 1st base open, do you walk the guy to setup double play most likely. Cruz would have been walked imo. Rosario as your cleanup hitter is laughable day in day out. Insert Wade in the lineup in the 2 or 3 hole. No expected power, but contact, work the count put the ball in play. Cave pouts when his one swing per at bat doesn't go his way. Where has the hustle gone. Nobody on this team runs out a ground ball. High priced players will be hitting the golf courses early October
  24. managerial moves are questionable lately. Need to mix up the batting order a little to generate some speed and power better than just looking for bombs to win games. Granted we would take 4-5 bombs to win but not sustainable come post season. Would move up Buxton to 5 and drop Rosario to 6th ahead of Jeffers at 7. Insert Wade at 2 hole to give Kepler a night off or two (struggling way to much for my liking). Wade works the count and puts ball in play. Need to put pressure on defense to make plays. Austidillo 1st pitch swinging is awful and puzzled by pinch hit role. Avila brings nothing to the plate. Have to win game one tonight to set the tone for weekend.
