  1. Don't forget the built-in bias in those numbers of facing a DH instead of a pitcher. Worley's case is still the one that sticks out, but he's been pretty ineffective in general so far. If the Twins want more strikeouts, they need more guys who can hit the mid-upper 90's. Look at Perk and Burton as examples.
  2. What I think actually will happen is that if a good trade offer doesn't happen, they will make him a qualifying offer. Which he will probably accept. It still leaves the question of Parmelee's future.
  3. I don't know if you were here long enough to get much exposure to Herb Carneal; but it was the same deal. True Professional at Work.
  4. I see things about him that remind me some of Tony Oliva (my all time favorite Twin).
  5. Still a ways to go to catch Rollie Fingers, though.
  6. It seems to be the Angels, Blue Jays, and Dodgers who are thoroughly self-destructing. None of them were shy about shelling out the big bucks. It's not always a winning strategy.
  7. Is this one of those kid AT&T ads?
  8. So how's Butera's broken pinkie mending?
  9. I had tickets for today, so we'll see you tomorrow night. The forecast shows mid-upper 60's by the weekend, so maybe this is about over. Maybe.
  10. Jim Palmer and Catfish Hunter had a few nice games against the Twins, too.
  11. Phil Miller of the Strib says it is indeed Arcia coming up. Hope the Angels games don't get postponed.
  12. This is why we watch baseball.
  13. I'm not nervous at all. Worley will do just fine. He won't beat Verlander on Monday, but he'll do OK this year. The kid's got moxie.
  14. Ultimately, given Liriano's and Marcum's injury problems, as well as Baker's, the guy to still feel bad about missing out on is Saunders.
  15. Nobody can replace Bruce Campbell.

Not only is it the answer to the ultimate question, but looks like a film people here may actually want to go pay money to see. Opens next month.
  17. I'll only make one. Barring injury, not only is Hicks up all year but he will be a top contender for AL rookie of the year.
  18. Like today; Hicks 4-4, Dozier 3-4, Mauer 6 RBI's.
  19. And now confirmed. Still waiting on the Opening Day pitching assignment.
  20. Agreed that doing it in here is an exercise in futility. It will be interesting to read what the admins ultimately decide.
  21. I love it when Bruno brought up sports psychologists. I remember the big deal the media was making in 91 about John Smoltz and his psychologist sitting at the game when he pitched. These guys may still be the best addition to the club this season.
