  1. Well, I plan to attend a few games this year. Sorry if that offends anyone's tender and delicate sensibilities. Okay, I'm really not sorry.
  2. As I recall Baker had other arm trouble which was the original cause of the surgery, and the TJ decision came during that procedure. So he's probably a more complicated case than Pelfry.
  3. This may be the most important thread on the forum. Alcoholic milkshakes? Hope they make some with Bailey's.
  4. Bats switch to Geico. Bats no longer afraid.
  5. Yeah, I know. It's my guilty pleasure to hope he rediscovers himself and becomes a leader of the staff. Looooong shot though it is.
  6. Cerrano learns how to hit the curveball.
  7. Worley is probably better than Diamond, too. It'll be interesting to see how they both hold up physically. I'd like to see Worley get it. Or Harden, if he's actually able. Ryan has consistently referred to Correia as a lower part of the rotation guy; I guess this will show if the rest of the organization does, too.
  8. Things were OK on the older articles this morning, but the new ones posted during the day show the problem, as noted in the previous post. Safari on iPad.
  9. For my nickel I think there could be a logjam for second place in the AL Central between teams with nearly identical losing records. It wouldn't take much. Could be the most favorable inter league schedule determines it. But that is, as they say, why they still play the games.
  10. I was in the "try Gibson in Swarzak's spot" camp, but the points I've seen made here have changed my mind. Short start him in Rochester for a month or two, and then bring him up when feasible.
  11. This would make an absolutely amazing story if he can come back like his early self. I guess he's already passed the Zumaya test.
  12. This blows me away. I work with Michael. I'll have to give him some guff about moving to a cave. He's a good guy. You should vote for him.
  13. This is Mnnesota, not New England. The proper term is "happy as a pig in slop."
  14. Confidence = (signal/noise) X sqrt(sample size). The English language is insufficient. Ergo Math.
  15. It's a pretty good bet that if Gardy and any of the coaches who are with him leave the Twins for nearly any reason they will be employed again by the 2014 season.
  16. I don't think you're going to have much luck in trying to trick adults into behaving like adults. And it's not really our job to do that. What might prove useful is if the board admins would start locking (and maybe even removing) some of the more troublesome threads to show that they are serious about having rules governing content posted to the site. That could get people's attention.
  17. An epic meeting would have been Billy Martin and Tsuyoshi Nishioka. I'll go with Billy because he was a friend of my wife's family, and had a bit to do with how she was able to bring Mickey Mantle to show and tell when she was in grade school.
  18. I think if you're going to bring in Brainiac to play short it would be a good idea to sign Mister Mxyzptlk to play second.
  19. That could sell some tickets.
  20. Bob Darwin had some amazing dingers, when the bat and ball actually found a meeting place.
  21. Well, somebody has to lead off and if Benson wins the CF job, they might just as well give it a shot. He'd probably be like Gladden.
  22. You can never have too much catching. They should invite 34 of them to camp.
  23. I'll go for 73-74. Not good, but better than last year.
  24. A place on the 40 man won't open, but this could give the team a place to put a pitcher they'd like to stretch out but with an innings limitation. Like say, Kyle Gibson. Maybe he could start the season as the long man in the pen until Swarzak is 100%, and then move into the rotation. I guess it depends on how long it takes Swarzak to recover. If he's ready at or near opening day it won't matter.
  25. Who here remembers 1982, and the surrounding years? Then you've seen this all before, and lived to tell the tale.
