  1. This is how I see it, too. After Morneau hits FA the 80% rule on salary reduction will no longer apply, and then I could see Ryan making a lower multi-year offer.
  2. They could also do much worse than hiring Alex Kingston for the role, too, IMHO. Oh, and dinosaurs were still walking the Earth when this thread segued from its topic.
  3. That would be outstanding. And with Cumberbatch as The Master.
  4. So who replaces Matt Smith as the Doctor next year? I'd love to see Terry Ryan's take on this.
  5. And the big asteroid could hit tomorrow. I choose not to assume the worst case. Let's see if he really comes back in August, and if so, how that goes before speculating. Plus, consider the golden opportunity for hindsight.
  6. I wouldn't be too surprised if Meyer's year next year pretty closely parallels what Gibson's was this year. Barring further injury, of course. From what Ryan said I'd conclude you'll be seeing Sano about a year from now.
  7. Quite possibly some combination of these. Not necessarily all, but this could be preparation.
  8. That could make getting Colabello and Herrmann more MLB experience even more important, though.
  9. Ichiro doing his best Nishioka impression...
  10. Just like all the other trades being discussed, it depends on the return. To get value, it will cost value.
  11. 6. The Futures Game, aka the Sano/Buxton showcase.
  12. I'd rather see Albers.
  13. I think the idea (minus the cheap shot) has considerable merit. Starting pitching always has value. We may get a surprisingly high offer for his services.
  14. I think the stork brings them.
  15. For good or ill, this does magnify the callup of Tonkin. He may be the best closer in waiting on the roster right now. I really don't want to trade Perk but at this point I think Ryan should open the door at least. Maybe feel things out at the ASG.
  16. Sano isn't ready yet. I do think this discussion will be taking place seriously within a year from now, though.
  17. Only another double. At .205 now.
  18. .201 and working on the Cycle. Pop the champagne.
  19. I'm pretty sure Swarzak is the primary long reliever.
  20. Tweet from LEN: Expects him back in NB soon. Hope so.
  21. I actually think Hicks is a pretty good CF. The thing he needs to learn to improve is where to position himself for individual opposing hitters. This is part coaching and part getting experience against the opponents he sees. Half of that can come in AAA, but the other half, not so much. As far as the original question, I'll be real happy with .200 by the break. After that it will be interesting to see where Mastroianni is with his rehab.
  22. I'll say 2-2 against the Rays, and 1-2 in NY. That makes 40-52 at the break. I thought 73-89 at the start of the season and will stick with that.
  23. I'm inclined to think that the decision was already made before the first pitch was thrown, based on Diamond's outing. They were the only real candidates for replacement.
  24. This will open a spot on the 40-man as well, yes? Albers time?
