  1. Good for you, young Mr. Albers. Sounds like a good coach in the making, too.
  2. Maybe we can talk I Don't Give a Darn out of retirement to be our shortstop.
  3. Tom Powers thinks it will be Romero; I'd like it to be Kyle Gibson.
  4. Suk-Min Yoon, mostly because I want to hear Bert try to pronounce that.
  5. It's just barely possible that getting a few starts in ST may up the trade value of Swarzak and/or Duensing. So after the Tanaka dust has settled and the rest of the big names have landed somewhere, a team still looking for a number 5/6 starter may offer something useful in exchange. Now before going all figgy pudding, note the difference between "just barely possible" and "likely," please.
  6. Just prior to the Revolutionary War people threw keys into the lake to protest the stadium tax.
  7. Maybe Gary Gaetti during the year or three stretch he was at the top of his game. Robinson did it for much of 20+ seasons.
  8. I'm waiting on the article predicting the amputation.
  9. Just to bust up the monotony I wonder what the reaction will be when Jason Bartlett is named the opening day SS? Actually, I'd really like to see Dozier get another chance, but that seems unlikely at this point.
  10. Maybe they should release them all, then.
  11. Apparently on Jan. 24th, you can ask Sano for yourself at TwinsFest.
  12. Per LEN, just today: "Miguel Sano has arrived in Florida to work out in advance of spring training - but he won't be working out for awhile. He had a callous removed from one his feet and will not start workouts for a few days. But all indications are that everything is going well with him. He was shut down from winter ball this offseason because of a strained ligament in his elbow but the Twins say he has recovered."
  13. Yes, but how are you when mom makes pizza rolls?
  14. Fez on : Glad we already played 2014 and know the results. Fezzes are cool! Fez off: Oh, wait, you mean pitchers and catchers haven't even reported yet?
  15. Recalling Greg Gagne, Mark Belanger, Ed Brinkman, Leo Cardenas, and Luis Aparicio makes me think good shortstops don't need to be high average hitters.
  16. Maybe you guys should start bundling some happy pills along with the prospect handbook. It could be a much needed pick-me-up 'midst the gloom and doom. And the cold. PS - you may need to ship from Colorado...
  17. Yes, it's just like the Harden signing, and will most likely have the same result. Still, the chance for him to have one last bow before his many, many fan here would make the signing well worth it.
  18. I think that's definitely been his history, but this seems like the year for trying different tactics, and he's showing a willingness to do that.
  19. I get the feeling this is a 'drive up the price for the Tigers' move. Sounds like Detroit is more serious about this.
  20. This seems vaguely reminiscent of a number of Joe Benson threads. I like the kid. I hope he makes it back to the Redwings.
  21. I've seen this repeatedly mentioned, and I have to admit I don't get it. Do people think that Mauer is going to forget everything he knew about catching and hitters in the league because he's changing spots? And I think Terry Steinbach understands a thing or two about the position as well. Pinto is not going to lack for capable instruction. Now if you're just worried Pinto can't cut it, just say that. But if there was ever a best year to learn on the job, this may be it. But if there is a problem, I'd think that's why they added Fryer to the 40-man. Personally, I like a mix of Pinto and Hermann for this year.
  22. My best guess is that Swarzak and Duensing go elsewhere and that Worley and Diamond take their spots.
  23. What I admire most about Deduno is the attitude he brings to the mound. This is clearly a man who loves to win and hates to lose. It would be nice to see the others pitch with this kind of fire.
  24. Perhaps the Twins should hire these ladies as team ambassadors. There should be a creative way to drive season ticket sales here someplace.
