  1. Duran coming out of the bullpen with no command against the first two batters he faced was pretty tough to take. But Funderburk failing against the left handed batter before that was the killer. You. Had. One. Job.
  2. I also know the way to San Jose but I'm not making that side trip. Mt Diablo on the way home, instead.
  3. Um, thank you? I think? 😊
  4. We expect weather in Oakland too. Bright beautiful sunshiney weather!
  5. I will complain a lot if they don't win. I've invested 48 hours in this little venture.
  6. Very lackadaisical outfielding, and then Martin gives it right back.
  7. Tigers have to be feeling pretty stupid.
  8. Best thing in several innings. 😊
  9. But enough about that game at Talking Stick.
  10. Remember that game at Talking Stick when I was ejected just for taking off my shirt?
  11. Correa is on record with a vulgarity to describe his own speed.
  12. Jacket weather tonight! Though pleasant enough in shirt sleeves at the moment. It's one of the reasons I consider a ballgame in Oakland one of the most underrated experiences. I will miss the place. I recognize I am in the vast minority opinion here. Sacramento next year? I'll likely go, but will grouse the whole time. And Vegas after that, ditto.
  13. At the ballpark tonight, with a beautiful view of majestic Mount Davis.
  14. I don't think so. Strike seasons cross up some forms of search. I thought maybe someone would have done it during the Dead Ball era but I didn't turn up such a season, Finally, I thought Babe Ruth might be the one in 1918, which he was transitioning away from being a pitcher, but apparently he had enough PA to qualify that year (according to baseball-reference.com) when he led the league with only 11 in 382 PA. I didn't look in the 19th Century.
  15. If the Twins are smart they will follow league rules. There are exceptions and maybe Varland's case is one, and they can do it. But ordinarily a pitcher must stay in the minors 15 days after being sent down. I'm unclear on the exact details of his being brought up for one game and then for another. His mlb.com page says he was "optioned" again on June 12, and then again on June 17, after having come up for a game each time as a "27th" player.
  16. There are 150 players who have enough PA this season to qualify for a batting title. Only 10 of them have 30%+ strikeouts. None of them are Twins. Too selective? There are 543 players who have 1 or more PA this season. 112 of them have 30%+ strikeouts. The three Twins in that group are Julien, Wallner, and Camargo. All three have been demoted to St. Paul. Across the majors, hitters strike out 22.2% of the time. Twins batters strike out 21.8% Old tropes just won't die.
  17. "Kepler strikes out on three pitches." Is there an echo or feedback loop in the broadcast audio?
