  1. Cause and effect were quite evident.
  2. And a big thank you to all of you who stuck that fork in him in the first inning.
  3. Which one? Mark Reynolds' 223? He's not close to that.
  4. No one recognizes their Inner Vigoda until too late.
  5. “Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. Suffering leads to White Sox fanhood. Or vice versa it is? Forget, do I always."
  6. Guess someone hasn't been reading the news...? Not sure even the SOX deserve that.
  7. Johnny Bench is just sitting around, probably waiting to hear the phone ring, I hear.
  8. Or, come for the weird, and stay because a baseball conversation accidentally breaks out.
  9. League-wide it's .846 and .599 respectively. Never would have guessed quite so wide, either. http://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/split.cgi?t=b&lg=AL&year=2015 When winning, the entire team is all-stars. When losing, AAA scrubs, every last one.
  10. If I'm reading bb-ref.com correctly, the entire team is .833 in wins and .548 in losses. I really don't know if there is anything to be read into these splits - when you lose it's because you're not hitting or not pitching or not doing both. Mauer looks like the interesting outlier this year with an OPS in losses only slightly lower than in wins.
  11. However, this kind of overlaps on a third characteristic, "stuff", doesn't it?
  12. It's a statement of the negatives outweighing the positives. He's never played an inning out there and I don't see the braintrust throwing him that kind of curve.
  13. Sano isn't going to play RF, much less be the starter there. Book it.
  14. Yeah. Two outs with men on first and second isn't exactly his forte.
  15. Not allowed to visit the restroom until the game is over?
  16. Not to worry. Only two more games like that one and it'll be over.
  17. A prolific (and good) writer like Jeremy is going to have a small percentage of his turns of phrase come out less than optimally. I too found it a bit grating and without obvious purpose, but hopefully we can move on.
  18. Kepler's on the 40-man, but adding Beresford would mean dropping someone. Not that there isn't a little dross on the roster, but Beresford will be dropped from the 40-man as soon as the season is over, so it would amount to risking losing someone for the purpose of rewarding a career man with another cup of coffee.
  19. My "could wear down with everyday use" theory is starting to smell.
  20. He's batting .202. They're ALL learning situs for him this season.
  21. From a purely mathematical standpoint, the Sox may be in it if they win all their games. I look at it this way. With 32-33 games to go for most teams, some team in the AL is going to get hot and go 23-10. We just don't know which one, but it happens every year. It could be some first place team that proceeds to run away with the regular season title, or some last place team that gets hot and salvages a near-.500 record. If it happens to be the White Sox, it will put their season record at 84-78. I don't think that's going to be enough wins. So for my purposes, the Sox are out of it. It would take more than just a hot final month, but a miracle.
