  1. In their drinking days they have done worse, too.
  2. If he has become one in two weeks in Rochester I am prepare to be pleasantly surprised. There's much more to playing CF than being fast.
  3. Must be, because it sure ain't for me. Ish. Ick. One for each.
  4. I don't think the league sees Plouffe as sustainably above average and he doesn't play a prime position. I don't think the league sees Escobar as more than utility. I was mostly reacting to what I thought was a perception that we could feed the prospect pipeline in a way that the Span trade permitted us. Troyhobbs has clarified a bit, in the meantime. I kind of don't want to contribute further than this to a tangent in this thread, though.
  5. These three together probably would not bring in return what Span brought. And they would be tough to package. Individually, you get future Eduardo Escobars and Logan Darnells in return.
  6. I for one welcome our new low-offense overlords.
  7. Tom Brunansky as Quality Assurance Engineer. Who knew?
  8. More experienced batters taking the slider in the dirt for a ball instead of swinging futilely?
  9. Can't hit, can't pitch, and can't field is no way to go through life, son. http://i0.wp.com/www.themovies.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Animalhouse1257.jpg
  10. This is exactly when I happened to tune in. Not impressive. http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view1/3313077/abe-simpson-o.gif
  11. Please sign me up for Jorge Fernandez and Felix Jorge. I'm hoping they get married while together in Cedar Rapids, leading to Jorge Jorge.
  12. B-r.com shows the age difference as just under one year. Hu is not quite 21 and a half. A year matters a good deal when forecasting (and my ranking of ceilings several weeks ago did indeed put Stewart higher than everyone), but Hu's hardly so old at high-A as to need to be qualified as "still a prospect".
  13. I'll have to try to remember that one.
  14. Chief being not in attendance, I'll take it upon myself: WINNAH! / capitalized, naturally
  15. "Ha ha. Our team made your fanbase go all potty-mouth."
  16. Too bad Hicks and Rosario were not in attendance to benefit from all this Mentorin' going on.
  17. When it works. Which it very well might not have, with an even slightly alert opponent. Maybe Torii factored all that in.
  18. Torii really did perpetrate some larceny there, scoring that run.
  19. For Circus Boy's benefit, please clarify if that's a prediction or a report.
  20. They found someone even better suited for mopup and long relief in Stauffer.
  21. Did you see that? The pitcher threw behind him! The umpire should toss the pitcher.
  22. The Garza thing was irritating because we traded away the wrong guy. You'll recall we had a perceived glut of good young starters. There were differences of opinion about who were the best among the group; hindsight now is 20/20 of course. But Garza was the one that seemed clearest to me not to trade. I think the Twins went with whoever got the most in trade, whereas I'd be inclined to trade away whoever got me the least, unless I was very sure my scouts were miles better than the Rays'. I think the Twins were also overly swayed by not liking Garza's cockiness or whatever.
