  1. Where it comes to Mike Pelfrey, is striking out the side in the first a good omen or bad? 0-0 after 1. CBU.
  2. Chicken, natch. / as opposed to chicken scratch
  3. 23. Molitor's starting lineup fails to make use of this golden opportunity.
  4. Since it's the minors, probably should be on one of those single-serving boxes.
  5. Tommy Tresh. Jason Bay. Ian Desmond. Steve Lombardozzi Jr.
  6. OTOH that may turn out to be his entire career allotment.
  7. I dunno, Brian. Stop having them, and it could prove fatal. Maybe moderation is the key. One birthday every 5 or 6 years?
  8. This kind of aggregate stat line always drives me nuts. Obscured by this is the fact that EE was always young for his league. E.g. he was a regular in AAA at age 22. Back when the discussion of interest was Florimon versus Escobar, an age by age comparison of their minor league stats built a strong circumstantial case that Pedro was doomed to be inadequate at the plate, while Eduardo was on a track (if he kept improving with age and experience) to hit sufficiently to hold a job. Also obscuring the issue was that Chicago somehow totally screwed him up for one season, by bringing him up to the majors prematurely. Now, I remained concerned even recently that his numbers might not hold up if he played every day - he's not a real big guy. Lately I'm finally convinced. The rest of the article here is more about the fundamentals, and is of typically high quality, but this one line early-on bothered me.
  9. The issue as always is money. Relievers feel they get paid better (arbitration, which radiates to other non-FA contracts) when they rack up gaudy Save numbers. And players always are keeping an eye toward the next contract. Yes, even Saint Perk.
  10. Think Buxton might make a serviceable wide receiver? In a few years Sano might be our right tackle, but let's not think about that now.
  11. I still can't hear the Mexican Hat Dance at games without mentally adding, "NORM SUCKS", where you're supposed to clap.
  12. Good save. I was about to parody you mercilessly.
  13. The Danes seem to be fools over that kind of thing.
  14. Well to tell you the truth in all this excitement I kinda lost track myself. So you've gotta ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?
  15. You're about to find out. And get the blame if anything bad happens. What. So. Ever.
  16. +1 Internets to you for this find.
  17. Or if Marney knew any ... no, nononono, no.
