    Sano was finally hitting to all fields, hitting for average and power, then James Rowson left for Miami. Sano started to try and hit 600 foot homeruns on every pitch and his career went kaput.

    Most complete player I've seen since Puckett. Two fluke injuries shouldn't scare off signing him long term now. Wait and Boras knows the LA and NY teams are drooling with their checkbooks open.

    We already gave up too much not to sign him. I would think four year deal that by the end of the contract would be a bargain for the Twins. Four years at 45-50M.

    When Rowson left for Miami is when the Twins hitting started going south. Rowson had Miguel Sano making contact, hitting to the opposite field, hitting for average. Now he's out of MLB.

    I think every MLB team loses someone that goes on and becomes a serviceable, good, even great player. Johan Santana comes to mind.

    I have to totally disagree, Morneau is by far, the worst. Analyzes every single pitch, monotone voice, and never shuts up. As a color commentator it's his job to comment, like Bert did. I know I'm in the minority on this forum, but there have been many articles in the Strib with many commenters agreeing with me. My wife and I watch every single game and she agrees, we turn the volume way down.

    peterb18, I totally agree about Morneau being named lead analyst. I really don't understand what the bosses at FSN see, or worse yet, hear in Morneau? He analyzes every single pitch, talks and talks and talks.... My wife and I seriously miss Bert in the booth with Dick, as they were the best. Bert said just enough to make it interesting, and with humor. And Dick, you're partially to blame as you continually ask Justin questions, and then he talks and talks and talks..... We too turn the volume way down so we can barely hear Morneau, as Dicks voice is more pronounced. Muting the TV and turning the radio broadcast on is our first choice, but we DVR most games so that isn't as option.

    With James Rowson leaving for Miami last season, Sano took a giant step in the wrong direction. Improve or get traded season for him?

    I agree, they paid a long shot a lot of money. Looks like it's starting to pay dividends.

    I have a strong opinion on this topic, mainly because my wife and I have been watching almost every televised Twins game for many years. I think we all agree Dick is very good at what he does and is one of the best in the business. This topic though is about his "sidekicks". Without a doubt, Bert is our favorite. His pitching knowledge combined with his sense of humor and relationship with Dick make for "our" favorite tandem. On the other hand, although a very nice young man, Morneau is by far the worst of any of the many new sidekicks Dick has worked with. An earlier post mentioned "Monotone Morneau". That is what my wife and I call him. Monotone but also he talks and talks and talks....... He needs to listen to himself and learn he is there for some commentary, not non-stop commentary. We had started to mute the tv toward the end of last season. As for some of the others, I like Smalley a lot, my wife not so much. TK and Jack Morris would be next in line, followed by LaTroy Hawkins and Torii Hunter.

    I consider myself a baseball traditionalist, yet I think the DH should be implemented throughout MLB. There are simply too many terrible hitting pitchers and unnecessary pitching changes in the NL. As for other rule changes, I'll accept any for this season so we can have one.

    Brunansky in the Cardinal red. Also goes down as one of the worst trades in Twins history.

    One other thing, initially Kirby didn't have power, he developed it. I have high hopes Luis can do the same. If not, I'm extremely happy with a .333 hitting second baseman that wins multiple batting championships.

    When Arraez came up last season there was an immediate 'WOW" factor. His base hits, plate presence, and of course batting average. I never once experienced that factor watching Revere.

    This article actually makes me think we don't have a missing piece. And every time there's a comparison to not signing an "impact" pitcher, it's mentioned in a way the Twins "settled" for Donaldson. After seeing these numbers of our top three pitchers compared to the rest of the A.L., I'm ecstatic we instead "settled" for an "impact everyday" player rather than one who only plays every five.

    I consider golf one of the four major sports, along with MLB, NFL, NHL, and the NBA(that's my B1G math). And I consider the PGA and MLB the two sports that are the most "true to play" and honest. By true to play I mean it's impossible for officiating to call an NBA and NHL game correctly with that type of play, grabbing, reaching, poking, etc. And the NFL has only gotten worse with what is and isn't pass interference and of course allowing offensive linemen to hold on virtually every play. Golf, with high definition TV and the ability to penalize a player after their round is complete is as true to play and honest as it gets. And MLB, now with instant replay is truly about skill and talent, no bad officiating, blown calls, and cheap shots (Bosa's hit to O'Neill's head). I'm old school and didn't agree with instant replay in MLB, I said if the ball's at second before the runner, he's out even if the bag isn't touched. But here we are and I've adapted, now I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm in favor of the electronic strike zone. Ump's are human and they give a Verlander or a Kershaw a call that a Dobnak or Gibson wouldn't get (not every time), but it's true, they're human. The Astro's scandal is what prompted me to write this, because I truly do believe the PGA and MLB are the only two major sports that are even remotely close to pure skill, talent, and honesty.

    My day told me when I was a little boy (i'm turning 60 in May), never draft or trade for a "short armed pitcher". Not knowing really who Capps was at the time, when I saw him I said to myself, oh no, a short armed pitcher. Although he had a decent season after the trade, he quickly flamed out.
