I'm a big supporter of our players. I understand their frustration of wanting to win, but the FO is doing nothing viable to make that happen. I'm sick & tired of them not being developed properly & mismanaged on so many levels. I'm sick & tired of bad player evaluation on who should be promoted, demoted & traded. I'm sick & tired of their inability to make viable & essential trades to cover our weak areas, I'm sick & tired of hoarding redundant prospects, I'm sick & tired of all their excuses & their cosmetic solutions, which don't do any good. I'm sick & tired of their weird analytical philosophies void of any human elements. To sum it all up, I'm sick & tired of Falvey. His firing is long overdue.

Yes, Larkin has done a great job reinventing himself. Believe me, I'd have liked if MLB hadn't figured them out but they did. Julien is having a much more difficult time adjusting, plus he has nothing to offer w/o his slugging. If he does adjust to be more of a contact hitter, he doesn't fit the 1B profile.

We had been out of it for a long time, especially after the great sell-off. All our games have been meaningless. But IMO, we could have made the series against our old nemesis, NYY, a team who have humiliated us for years, meaningful. IMO, it'd be valuable to give the team something to play for & have them come together as a team (besides some individuals vying for a spot next season). I feel the Twins' hierarchy admire the NYY, they roll over and play dead whenever they play them. They take out their trusty computer & figure the odds & think odds are against us, why try? So they figure it's time to play our Juliens & give all our main players a rest. This really burns me when they do this. Their prior series with NYY, NYY were reeling, in great danger of losing it. BUT they knew they were facing the Twinkies, they knew that they owned us & this would give them a reset. This would have been the ideal time to rally the troops, make this our playoff series, see what we have, take revenge against our nemesis by keeping them reeling even further, knock them out of the postseason, change the air & premise. How meaningful would that be? But no the Twins lost the series & let NYY regain their footing & regain their position in the playoffs. Now this last series, the Twins brought in what they thought was the bottom of the rotation, but SWR proved them wrong & pitched a gem along with Martin & Lee making statements. SWR shut out the NYY, which was valuable in itself. IMO, the Twins could have swept the Yanks or at least won the series if they tried harder. Twins again lost the series & giving NYY confidence to finish on top of the WC or even hope to challenge for the division championship. How long has it been since the Twins won a series against the Yanks? How meaningful would it be to accomplish the above objectives? For me, very; I take this very personally, I wish the Twins did too.

I've been complaining about Falvey for years. All he has done is make excuses & cosmetic changes that often made us worse. '23 had a great core; all he had to do was make some small, viable trades to bolster fragile areas. When they didn't do them, I felt that they weren't going anywhere. Falvey won't change so it's time to change the one who should be accountable with someone who knows what he's doing, if we want change for the better.

Buck was a little quiet today but Lee & Lewis came through. SWR had a little trouble in the 1st inning, but as usual he adjusted like a veteran & gave us a chance to win the game. He is too underrated.

I'm sorry, Hans. Falvey can no longer hide that Julien is bad at 2B, so they finally put him at 1B, But it's 4 yrs. too late. He's not good & his hitting doesn't justify him there. Just because his bad K rate has gotten better doesn't justify the Twins wasting their time with him. There are players that the Twins don't give opportunities to, who deserve it, and there are players that the Twins give unlimited opportunities to, who don't deserve them. Julien is in the 2nd group.

IMO, it's not a bad cop/ good cop thing. It's faulty philosophies. IMO, Baldelli tries to alter them, but how it's set up, it's not working. I don't like how Baldelli handles his players, but if we fire him, we'll end up with someone worse, like Tingler. Our biggest problem is incompetence at the top. Nothing will change until there's change for the better at the top.

Lee has been holding up better than I expected & has been improving every season & I expect him to be more consistent with time. IMO, he's a key to the chemistry of the young players. Martin, Keaschall & some new players will be key to the long-overdue running game. Defense has to be stressed, which is very much lacking. The BP has been gutted beyond immediate repair. IMO, before we even think about competing, there has to be a change of philosophy from total dependence on cold, weird analytics to a baseball smart approach that's based on fundamentals, where the many human underlying conditions & intangibles (like heart, experience & gut feeling) are considered. IMO, the main factor of success was Molitor's smarts (he had faults) & Hunter's leadership that contributed to the success of our young players. Now we gave away Correa (that made a big hole in leadership) & we are baseball ignorant (the opposite of MIL) while basically eliminating the scouting department. We need to bring back leadership & baseball smarts that former players had to give, instead of avoiding it because of fear of contradicting their philosophies. I have been very patient with Falvey. I have been criticizing him in hopes that he'd change. I have given up any hope that he'd change. Any hope of competing next year requires a total overhaul of management. Bring back Tori Hunter, bring back other former players, bring back Andy Macphail, promote Drew to FO, bring back Varland & some other players, let them figure it out.

Maybe some were dogging it, but Martin surely wasn't. Martin's bold run at home for a score should have got the troops fired up. Lewis also had a good game. Hope Lopez is OK.

That FB that Keaschal hit was very catchable (I thought it should have been an out), did they give Keaschal a double on that? Martin was wise to stick at 2B until it hit the ground.

I had high hopes for Prielipp to make it to the Twins' BP to help them advance in the postseason. But alas, he wasn't needed. His remaining healthy & having a good final outing is one of the few positives for the season. Happy that Miranda played 1B & had a good game. I agree that Emma should have been called up to get his feet wet & maybe spark a fire within him. Games don't count anyway. Keirsey needs regular ABs, but at this point, what does it matter?

I like your list & your reasoning. However, I ranked Mauch much higher because he really knew his stuff but he didn't have much to work with, especially when Carew left shortly after. Molitar also knew a lot but that was the problem, he didn't mesh well with Falvey, so he was gone. Moliter should have stayed & if Falvey like Baldelli so well, he should have hired him as a bench coach. Martin was a fiery manager but he was too hot to handle. IDK where I'd place Baldelli but he's not in this group.

You can say these managers had X amount of wins, but to rank them according to wins is unfair. IMO, Gene Mauch was the Twins' best manager, but he didn't rack up a bunch of wins in his short time with us. After he left, he did much better. You have to consider what he had to work with. Baldelli's best years were his 1st 2 years, & I contributed more to his bench coaches for the wins than his managing alone. IMO, our '23 roster was the Twins' best roster in years. I wouldn't say that Baldelli is Twins' 3rd best manager, not by a long shot.

You are right, it's good to try to keep your SP on a regular schedule, but teams often finagle the calendar to get a certain setup they want. Twins could have finagled the calendar with the bottom 3 SPs so as to yield to the Yanks as those games lost. They could have held back Lopez a couple of days. Ryan would probably like a chance to beat the NYY, It'd look good for him. W/o a doubt, I deem this series much more important than they do. That is my point. The only thing I was looking forward to the whole season was beating the Yanks because I knew we weren't going to the postseason. Maybe I wanted to win this series too much.

Twins have won only 1 series in the last 23 years. They don't care; that's the problem. This AAAA team outscored the NYY 21 to 20, If they had cared, this AAAA team could have swept NYY. That is my point. They could look back & have one thing they could be proud of.

Yeah, great idea! In '20, Falvey went out & got big-name FA Donaldson; they were very excited. They later turned around & dumped his salary at a great loss. Again in '22 & '23 went out & got big-name FA Correa, again were very excited. Then later turned around & dumped his salary for a loss. Teams like NYY can get by not developing their players & go out & sign big-name FAs, but friends, the Twins can't sustain this. How can the Twins possibly think they can get anywhere by signing another big-name FA with Falvey & Co. at the helm? That'd be a total waste of money that could be better spent elsewhere, like extending a more valuable player. We have a lot of very good in house candidates for 1B instead of looking elsewhere. Same for 2B. Catcher is the only position that we desperately need help. But I don't see FA as a solution. Twins can only succeed by drafting, developing & progressing our in house players & if there is still a need, trade from our many redundant players that Falvey doesn't want to trade.

IMO, there is a difference between X number of years of experience & truly mentored. Baldelli got a lot of his analytics from Cash. But he has no idea of how to go beyond analytics & go with your gut. These 6 yrs., he's been just winging it.

I agree. NYY don't look that good. I stated in the game thread that if Falvey & Co. were serious about beating the NYY, they'd pitch their 3 top SP instead of the bottom 3. (You can debate me & say Ober isn't in the top 3, & I'd agree with you & right now SWR is pitching better. But as far as the Twins' pecking order, Ober is #3). If Lopez & Ryan were used, the Twins could have swept the NYY. I'd have been very happy if MN had been the spoiler against our nemesis. IMO, Falvey & Co. do not share the same sentiment as many serious fans. They'd rather roll over & play dead, "oh, well, we can't win, so why try?" Falvey & Co. admire the NYY too much, SWR defied that & shut out the NYY, don't you think that Lopez & Ryan could have shut out the NYY? NYY aren't that great. Their BP is horrid. Maybe MN couldn't knock NYY out of the postseason, but I'd like for them to try. I'd have liked them to make this our pretend playoff game. & at least knock them down a peg or two. The players gave a pretty good effort; I'd like the same from management.

Yankees (Gil) vs Twins (Bradley): 9/17/25, 6:40pm
Doctor Gast replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Archived Game Threads
If we had our top 3 SPs instead of our bottom 3 we could have swept the NYY. But still hope Bradley can still do it for us tonite.
