  1. It is fun to watch the games but also the crowds. How do people watching see things? I feel like Seattle and the Chicago Cubs fans have been the best so far, although all have been amazing. I was disappointed how quickly the Yankee fans exited the stadium before the game was over.
  2. Brewers - $123M vs. Dodgers - $396M Mariners - $166M vs. Blue Jays - $258M via Fangraphs At this point it is just baseball though. Plenty of good players and great plays.
  3. Damn. Fantastic postseason thus far. Does anyone else feel that the price for starting pitchers has gone up this October?
  4. If Seattle uses Bryan Woo and Bryce Miller they could skate through on Sunday. Or perhaps the Mariners try to ride one of Woo/Miller and go with Emerson Hancock and others to get to Monday. The club will have 13 pitchers on their LCS roster and several will be fresh/good to go. There is another off day on Tuesday before the series returns to Seattle.
  5. At some point the Twins will need to make a decision about Emmanuel Rodriguez. Most likely, there will be discussions about him after he finishes his stint in the winter league. One option would be to explore interest from other teams in EmRod.
  6. Best player available. IMO, that is either the best pitching prospect (I know, I know TINSTAAPP) or an athletic position player who can hit, run. field and throw.
  7. Can you explain how Joe Ryan went from 70 in July to 47 now? How did Royce Lewis go from 31 in late July to 11 now? I'm curious how that works. FWIW, racism was a part of the 1965 trade of Frank Robinson, but it is important to remember that Milt Pappas was seen as being the next Koufax at the time. I don't see the Red Sox as the best trading partner for the Twins. I'm only interested in Rafaela Ceddanne and Payton Tolle, maybe Marcelo Mayer but I am not that keen on his future as many. If Boston wants Joe Ryan, they will have to pay much more than BTV would suggest, but if they just wanted to be rid of Tristan Casas he works as a throw in a deal. It is fun to play around with these ideas. While I know everyone has different thoughts and nobody has any clue of actual values from a MLB front office viewpoint much less need, it still is a part of being a fan. Thinking about trades just while typing this, I wonder if Detroit would be amenable to receiving either Ryan or Lopez plus either Lee or Lewis and send back Javy Baez and Max Clark. I'm totally guessing but expect a budget near $110M for 2026.
  8. Let's be realistic. We have zero idea what is going to happen. Not a single fan, ZERO, predicted the trades in July. Hope for the best and enjoy whatever you can from baseball because we have no role in decisions.
  9. A team that performed in the style of the 2025 Minnesota Twins was full of least valuable. If one MUST compile a group of least valuable start with those who underwhelmed and had something like the most plate appearances, innings pitched, or games played. From that list only a few escape mediocrity. It is kind of senseless to pile on lower level reserve players who were not counted on to win games.
  10. I was so happy for Jorge Polanco. The Twins had Polanco for some good years. The trade is in the past. No reason for people to think about it any longer. Hopefully, the front office will have better luck making trades this offseason.
  11. I fully understand how much you and many others like Wallner. I'm fine with him at DH only if he is on the team. I don't want to see him in the outfield any more. He isn't any better than Nelson Cruz was at the end of his career or Kyle Schwarber is now in the field. Can he hit like either of them? I saw someone post that Matt Wallner has a BTV around 25-30. I believe Wallner has value somewhere. We shall see how it plays out.
  12. Falvey needs to find a team that thinks as highly of Matt Wallner as many of his fans. Wallner has more value than Larnach and there is only one DH allowed. Hey, maybe Manfred decides he wants more DH guys. Time for EmRod or see what value he has on the trade market. Walker Jenkins might be ready soon, depending on his offseason. Roden could be a fair 4th outfielder. Still, it is really early. Hopefully, Falvey doesn't have a three month vacation planned. I'm impatiently waiting for some November and December action. How frustrated will I be?
  13. Where we differ is in our views of the roster. I had picked the Twins to win 83 games if everything went well. The Twins did not have nearly as many injuries as most squads. My fears were the team would stumble with poor hitting and defense. Sadly, that came true. As a Twins fan I adopt the players and make every attempt to see the best in every player. However, decades of playing, coaching, and managing with some scouting along the way makes me also look critically at the roster. I see an unbalanced team. The pitching staff has real promise and probably only needs one or two bullpen arms to stabilize their unit. The position side is a wreck, imo. If everything went on my thoughts (at this time) only 2 regulars return, 2 regulars become utility players, and possibly 2 more on on a bubble; in other words change. I do know that I don't know what the Twins plan and am very sure many of the same players will be back. I will still support the team, of course, but the team needs to vastly improve their defense. When one has followed the Twins since listening to their first game on the radio in 1961 there are always conflicting thoughts on the team.
  14. The Twins don't need to spend $120-140M to have a decent team. They can be decent with a $100-110M budget. If the Twins move Lopez to save money it means the front office doesn't understand budgeting or balancing roster needs. The team could keep both Lopez and Ryan but changes need to be made to acquire better baseball players. The Twins cannot continue next season with their assortment of poor defensive players whose bats are mostly anemic. That will mean a few gamble trades. I doubt that Lopez returns the value of Ryan. There isn't any reason to trade Lopez without gaining a significant return. I cannot think of a team to target using Pablo. Thus, I think Nick is spot on here. The one caveat is if some team offers something insane, which is not happening.
  15. Never forget the slogan in the Metrodome down along the right field foul poll, The HHH Metrodome, Minneapolis, "We like it here". So thoroughly Minnesotan.
  16. There is probably someone on Twins Daily who has seen Tait or Jimenez play in person numerous times. That person could give a better account. I watch a ton of minor league games, often skipping around with different screens to focus on specific pitchers and players. I do watch complete games too, to catch the flow of a game. A and A+ ball is a long way from MLB. My impression of Tait is that he is pretty athletic, something I prioritize. He looked good behind the plate on the occasion I remarked on but generally was very raw. He has quite a ways to go to improve behind the plate. He could be ready by 2028 or 2029. The bat can be ferocious but he doesn't control his plate appearances. It is just a lack of experience. I think he is a solid prospect and well worth following. I only saw Jimenez a few times, around 6 games. I have no real thoughts on him based on limited viewing. My limited viewing of Rojas and Mendez made me think they could be helpful players in a couple of years. All Twins fans want the team to be good next year but their roster is a mess. When one looks at each individual on the roster there are positive attributes that deserve positive thoughts. We can go over each player, which Doc often does, and highlight the best case scenario. However, the cumulative effect of the current team is probably a 65-75 win squad. The trades in July were a message of change. It would be rather unusual if the offseason did not bring 4-7 more trades. Adding veterans will not raise the team. Remember that the Twins received more than they dreamed from Bader, France, and Coulombe. That was good for a 72 win season. Things can get much worse attempting different band aids. The miracle is a making really good trades and getting solid performances from numerous inexperienced players, such EmRod, Jenkins, Gonzalez, Fedko, Abel, Festa, Matthews, Morris, and Prielipp. Baseball is a tough business and miracles seldom happen. Hopefully the Twins have a plan different than the last 9 years.
  17. I don't have BTV but saw on this site (TD) that Joe Ryan had a 73 value in July. How does he go from 73 to 47?
  18. Actually, even in MLB there is quite a bit of chatter. This situation it is too loud so pointing is common, hand signals. Just a very poor way to end a really good game and the series to boot.
  19. Loud crowd, no infield chatter. Did Realmuto point to first base? Total brain freeze because he had the ball with more than adequate time to throw to first base. Phillies had a ton of poor plate appearances. Tough loss all around.
  20. Sanchez was really good.
  21. A team as dysfunctional as the 2025 Twins needs to consider everything, talk to every team, and listen. The Angels don't have anyone in their system worth trading for if Lewis goes west. Teams will not automatically place a low value on Lewis because of his poor season. Each team will have their own evaluation of every player. We have zero idea of how any specific front office views the Twins players. In my view the Twins need to keep an open mind. There are not untouchables on the Twins roster.
  22. I would be surprised but not shocked. Also, it could be a one for one trade. Detroit is going to have money to spend after their time in the postseason. They need another top starting pitcher. If the teams' fortunes were reversed, would the Twins trade Jenkins for Skubal? There are bound to be other teams interested as well. Hopefully the Twins are checking every team for opportunities. The team needs better talent on offense.
  23. Michael has a rubber arm. Can he stay healthy? The expected performance does not project for him to have a 40 person spot. However, the Twins (every club really) could use some experienced hands in St. Paul. Tonkin could be back in the organization next season, but he doesn't get a 40 person slot this winter.
  24. That is mol the way I feel. If it is Boston, I like Rafaela first. I would expect other clubs to be interested in Joe Ryan. While it would be best if the Twins could sign him, that seems unlikely so we should hope for a great deal. I'm hoping Detroit feels confident enough in Parker Meadows to dangle Max Clark. All things considered I have no idea what anyone in the front offices thinks though.
