    Duran would draw plenty of interest from any number of teams. Arizona led MLB in runs scored. Maybe the Twins could use a few minor leaguers plus Duran to pry away Jordan Lawler from the Dbacks. The Twins need to think of paths towards improving the roster. That is something we should agree on, although the ways and means may differ.

    The rough estimate for 2025 using the current roster is $135 million. The larger issue in my opinion is a need for the Twins to improve their defense. Falvey was quite happy with the team he put together for 2024 and the Twins were good until they weren't. A big part of their demise (many other elements) was shoddy glove work. The question is whether Falvey believes the team needs change. Ryan is unlikely to draw as much interest as Ober. Our big dude has improved steadily and looks like he is capable of getting even better. Ober is underrated in my book. The articles on Twins Daily explore ways to massage the roster for one reason or another. The idea of trading Ober (or Ryan) works if the return is a plug for the Twins current roster. I would suggest that further moves could be made as well. Looking at the Twins roster, it seems like some change is needed. Just spitballing, would the Red Sox be interested in trading Jarren Duran for Bailey Ober and a couple of other players. This ignores a premise of the article, which is to reduce salary now and in the future, but strengthens a big weakness in the outfield and buys time until a few Twins prospects are ready for playing time.

    Really. i had not noticed that. Vinnie is underrated, he does remind me of Hrbek. I've wondered if Royce Lewis might have a better career if he was a first baseman, but am not at all sure what he thinks about it.

    We have not had a chance to see Dasan Hill pitch but he was all over blogs among the top prep arms available in last summer's draft. I got nothing to say about him because i haven't seen him, yet I have thought that hope he pitches for Ft. Myers next year so i can see him pitch.

    I don't believe it will. Falvey can put together a pretty decent roster with somewhere around $130 M. The issue is allocation of resources, unless one thinks the Twins should be spending significantly above that budget. Falvey, in his words, put together the roster he wanted for 2024. Now he gets another chance to build the 2025 roster as he sees fit to do.

    Although I agree that Castro would still have value in addition to a good 2B (Lee, Eeles, Keaschall,?), Falvey needs to be looking across baseball for talent and be willing to trade. I would think Castro would be a good pickup for a team and hopefully that team would have something the Twins need.

    Ryan Jeffers has value to any number of teams, including the Twins. Falvey has to turn every stone seeking a path to a better roster. The Cubs, Rays, and Marlins are three teams willing to trade for Jeffers. But, you are correct that the Twins also need two catchers to roster. That means that before Jeffers can be actually traded another option or two need to be already available, not including anyone currently in the Twins organization. I would trade Jeffers in a fair deal but would need at least one decent option on board before making a deal.

    Eeles has shown himself to be ready and gives off a certain maturity. I would agree. As much as I like Castro, if the Twins field a $135 million budget, a trade makes sense.

    I believe that Tonkin is the only player nontendered from the list above. There will be no QO from the Twins. The 40 person roster is pretty difficult to put together. Every team has issues when putting together their roster and sometimes trades early in the offseason influence who lands on the list. I could see any of seven names from the tendered list moved in trades, depending on how proactive Falvey decides to be this offseason. I agree that Raya and Rosario will be put on the roster and believe that there is a chance that MacLeod and Nowlin also find themselves on the 40 list. Once again, Falvey gets a chance to put together the roster he wants for the upcoming season. It should be interesting.

    The most interesting player to watch for me was Winokur. He is several years away with plenty of skills to polish still before he is ready for the highest level of baseball. Still, the athleticism is there. Winokur plays good defense in either the outfield or infield with quickness and an arm to make plays. Yes, he can improve but the reflexes are a gift. At the plate, Winokur has a good eye but gets impatient like a young guy, because he is young and inexperienced. When he learns to stay more within himself and channel his swing more expertly, we can expect some strong results. Lastly, Winokur is a threat on the bases, very aggressive in stealing and on advancing the extra base. I'm looking forward to see how the lanky kid fares in Cedar Rapids next season. I do believe he will need more time than some other players to refine his skills.

    Good job of looking over the Royals team. The photo shows a possible answer for KC. Perhaps they bring back Tommy Pham. Did I miss the mention of Vinnie (Kent Hrbek) Pasquantino in the article? He is the real deal, a feared hitter. When looking over the Royals team I see some obvious holes in the outfield and a need, like most every team, for pitching. Still, one can argue that the Royals have three position players that stand out and lead the team and some very promising young players as well. I see Bobby Witt Jr. as the best player in baseball right now. His ability to affect all areas of the game and play every day improves everyone on the team. His contributions cannot be matched across the board, which makes the Royals tough when complimentary pieces are added. There may be some regression next season for Kansas City. I had them around 79-83 wins this season and expect them to be decent next year as well.

    The Twins struggle to run, throw, or get to ground balls or fly balls on too many occasions. When they all hit, the Twins are good. I'm not one to worry about the pitching. Cleveland, Detroit, and Kansas City finding success did not surprise me. When Correa and Buxton are healthy and well supported by those around them, yes, the Twins are a winning team. However, their record was boosted by dominant performances versus weak teams which usually doesn't hold up year to year. I don't believe the situation is dire at all but also believe that there is a window to improve the roster talent via trades.

    Running out the same roster seems like it would be frustrating for me as a fan but I can see Falvey sitting on his hands. Last offseason there were chances but this offseason the gambles will be more pronounced, if taken. I'm not expecting too much. You mention Duran. I would call Arizona and offer Duran and Soto for Jordan Lawler. Not sure the Dbacks would be open for business but they would benefit from a closer. Falvey needs to turn over every rock looking for ways to upgrade the roster.

    Agree because they suited up all year. Then again .... Time to fix the roster is this offseason. The defense, base-running, and situational hitting must improve. An aside on Correa, I have know people who took Lipidor (sp?) for blood pressure to suffer from PF, but see their painful problems subside when they switched to Cresidor (sp?). Plantar fasciitus seems debilitating from what I have seen, although I have never had personal experience with the problem. PF can go away and never return as well. Correa is easily the most valuable player when on the field, but he needs to play 130-150+ games.

    Agree on keeping Jax unless he brings back someone like Duran (Boston outfielder, which is not happening). What makes Alcantara interesting is his ceiling. Whereas Brooks Lee was seen (likely still is) as a solid regular with a high floor capable of possibly being selected to an All Star Game once in his career, Alcantara has a lower floor but a much higher ceiling. He can run, throw, and field for sure. There is value in a solid regular but the Twins could sure use players who have multiple talents and skills. Noteworthy that Alcantara and Lee do not play similar positions, so they are not in any competition nor easily comparable. I believe the Twins need to improve their fielding and athleticism. They are a slow team and that impacts their ability to score and their ability to keep other teams from scoring.

    I could care less how much money the Pohlad family makes, but Carl paid $5 million down with another $5 million paid each year for the next four years and then a $7 million final payment. Carl actually made money on his payments to Calvin. Carl did buy the "other" shares though. Someone can add the initial $5M plus the $11.5M paid for the shares purchased from the Tampa Bay Baseball Group to see what Carl's money could have earned via DJIA. Either way, I'm sure Carl doesn't care any more. But yes, the Pohlad family has money.

    Pretty fair look at the roster as is, which should make people think that some changes must be made. There will need to be a few gambles taken. A reboot with the roster above would not be very handsome.

    Maybe the Cubs trade Kevin Alcantara for Ryan Jeffers. The Twins would need to swing a trade for a young catcher in that event though. Dalton Rushing and Harry Ford are both blocked and may be available. What do the Dodgers and/or Mariners want in return? The Twins need to explore an assortment of avenues to improve their roster talent. Perhaps Buck agrees to waive his NT clause to go to the Dodgers for Rushing and Sheehan. I actually expect few deals this offseason but am just hoping for something.

    Funny. Taylor Swift is probably the most popular person in the country, so it would be popular. I would put the odds at less than winning Powerball but would also embrace that sale. She is a force in business. Bezos is a crazy weird dude but also good at business .... as long as we are being silly.

    When the Twins were sold to Carl Pohlad, MLB made the call on who would be approved to buy the team. The other groups went home disappointed. Mark Cuban tried to buy into MLB at one point but was rejected. Time has passed and the valuations have risen substantially. Now, MLB is likely to approve an individual, group, or consortium that has the financial means to buy and run a franchise. There just aren't that many people willing to drop $1.5B to own a baseball team. Time will tell us who emerges to bring the Twins their third ownership group. Hopefully this all turns out ok. I have never spoken with any of the Pohlads, although I was introduced to Carl and Eloise in 1987. I have no ill will toward these people. MLB is big business and we see how that works pretty much every day. The biggest change for the Twins will be to field a roster that can pitch, hit, run the bases, and defend. A return of the 2024 roster and that style of play cannot happen. I would suggest that the roster payroll is way less important than the personnel. Sure, money always helps but as we can see from watching Detroit, Kansas City, and Cleveland it isn't the final say in winning baseball games. I do think a new group or individual owner is a good idea at this time. Make it quick.

    Doubt that the Twins or many Twins Daily fans see Rortvedt as an option at catcher. Yet, if Tampa Bay would include Uceta and/or Rasmussen along with BR then perhaps that works. Ideas are worth a thought at the very least.
