  1. He's the Twins' version of Shohei Ohtani.
  2. The Twins can lose every game 1-15. Until the offense can score I’ll never blame the pitching. If Bauer were on this team, maybe we’d lose every game 1-10, but the team would be more worthless.
  3. Not to be another one of those 'back in my day' guys ... (though obviously I'm about to)... I know the game has totally changed, but what happened to the Willie McGee type players? The guy obviously never lifted a weight in his life (the weights weighed more than him) and we was able to play 18 years of average or above average baseball (his career slash line is higher than most Twins this year) with only a few injuries sprinkled in. Maybe they're trying to chase that steroid era through more natural means, but I thought those 80s games were far more exciting. Even watching the Cubs lose every game on TV was more enthralling than watching todays good teams hit a few home runs now and then. Injuries are a byproduct of more boring baseball. That is all. Get off my lawn. (shaking fist at cloud)
  4. Wait until the Twins play Boston next. Alcala will be lights out.
  5. So when will the Twins decide if they are sellers at the trade deadline?
  6. Wow. I know he was having a bad year, but it seems like he’d be worth more than a weak hitting high A guy
  7. The problem I see isn't that the Twins lack a good bat in the lineup. Its that they lack several good bats in the lineup. So, while it would be exciting to trade away Duran for a good hitter, I'm not sure the impact will be enough. If I pick a random type of player we might hope to get for a Duran, we can look at someone like Brandon Lowe (I just kind of randomly picked a guy based on numbers, don't know about tradability, salary, etc). He's got good power and plays a position that could replace Brandon Lee, one of the teams worst hitters. Lowe might produce 10-20 more runs than Lee, but when you also subtract the handful of extra losses we get for NOT having Duran, I'm not sure it is worth it. When the Twins lose, it is usually because they fail to score several runs in a game, not one or two. So, yes, a Duran trade could help the Twins win 2-3 more games this year, but unless they got in a huge haul, I'm not sure it would make the difference. I bet Tampa still wishes they had Joe Ryan. This could look like that in 3 years.
  8. Good news on Lopez is he’ll be back in j just in time for the playoffs to give the twins an extra boost.
  9. It would be an easier idea to stomach if the Twins' offence wasn't so terrible. I don't think any bat they might get in return would add much more than the bat that it would replace. Paddack isn't good enough to trade for that offensive spark that can carry the team. We're about to see the real value of Paddack if Lopez goes down. Suddenly an elite starting lineup has 2 AAAA starters and 3 quality starters instead of 1 AAAA and 4 quality arms. That's a pretty big difference... especially when your team can't hit.
  10. I’ll keep this average France guy any day.
  11. I’m not sure it is unfair. He’s clearly on the shortlist to come up to the majors. It’s only May and half the team has been injured. He’ll be up here with his full chance when the time comes. In the meantime he probably at least got some major league catering and top tier hotel rooms as well as the ability to be a fly in the wall in a major league clubhouse. This isn’t the last of McCusker we get this year.
  12. No problem subbing out Clemens for McCusker. He'll get his chance eventually, but not during close games. He might be on fire in AAA, but the best AAA pitcher is worse than the worse MLB pitcher. He's going to have to adjust, even if that just takes a few at bats. He might have to be Joey Gallo for a few games before he's McClusker again.
  13. He's a hell a lot better than the alternatives... an injured Kirilloff, or squeezing in someone who absolutely doesn't belong like Miranda or Julien. From the view from radio, it looks like the infield defense is remarkably better than advertised and I'd bet first base plays a big part in that. He might be a downgrade from Santana and he might just be league average... but just like Vazquez and Kiersey, he'll occasionally pull out a big hit that gives the Twins a win. At the same time, he doesn't seem to lose many (or any) games due to misplays or a string of extremely poor at bats. The Twins will have to find their superstars at other positions, but they should at least feel secure with Frenchie at 1b.
  14. Spoke too soon. Must have misread something. I thought they called it.
  15. Looks like it is as blown open as it will get. 2-1 final score.
  16. Nope. People have their own houses and apartamentos.
  17. Watkins gets a lot of crap. But he's MUCH improved over previous years. He is getting more aggressive (again) so there are going to be outs. But I'm glad he's 3b coach.
  18. Last year this team was far worse than they looked on paper, mostly because they were able to completely wipe up against the worst teams in the league, thereby padding their record. As with many seasons, they had a problem getting completely destroyed by the better teams, barley scraping out any wins against the likes of the Yankees, Dodgers, etc.. (though they did get one or two). We'll see if they can manage to go 500 against the elite teams this year. If the Tigers have entered that category, they'll get more chances than before to show they aren't a mirage. While there are more than 100 games to go, we'll see how the teams that contributed to their win streak ultimately fare but it is heartening to think that they can also annihilate teams that are a step up above the worst in the league.
  19. Do the other teams happen to include the Rockies, White Sox, and Angels?
  20. If it weren't for Correas recent string of singles over the past several days, I'd say that Ryan Fitzgerald could even be an offensive upgrade.
  21. The lineup is posted for today. No Buxton, Correa, or Bader. Good thing Kiersey and Clemens are learning to hit home runs. We might need continued production from the bottom of the 9.
  22. Glad to see someone other than Gasper get a chance. Hopefully he's a more than another AAAAer.
