    In 2023... His OPS with the A's would have ranked 5th on the Twins. Thus far in 2024. He would be ranked #1 on the Twins. His minor league stats appear to be consistently good every year. He had options remaining. No idea if the Padres insisted on Rooker or if the Twins insisted on Rooker but 26 man decisions had to be made like every year. Those 26 man spots are gold while we watched Garlick, Cave, Celestino among others occupy 26 man roster spots after Rooker was moved. When you roster Matt Belisle, you can lose a Nick Anderson as a result.

    I've always heard it as: Every team wins 54 games, Every team loses 54 games. It's the other 54 games that matter. Whoever came up with 60 60 42 has no idea about the usefulness of alliteration.

    Because I am blacked out from watching the team. The product can't save the brand at the moment. As far as I'm concerned... The Twins are currently in a sealed box with Schrodinger's cat.

    The Twins have a better winning percentage against the sub-500 teams. CLE 14-9 NYY 18-8 BAL 13-9 LAD 23-14 The Twins not only have a better winning percentage at 15-5. They have played less games against under .500 clubs with 20 compared to CLE 24, NYY 26, BAL 22 and LAD 37. Good teams win 6 out of 10 Bad teams win 4 out of 10 Average teams win 5 out of 10 The Rockies have won 7 in a row. The Margins are thin.

    Wait a second. If I remember correctly... the Bad News Bears had some major accomplishments. They first reached the championship and lost to the Yankees (Of course the Yankees). Then they beat the Toro's at the Astrodome a year later for the chance to go to Japan... they did lose in Japan against the... I don't remember what they were called but Kelly was distracted and that Japanese team was the greatest team ever put together in movie history. That team was so good that in other movies they beat Godzilla to keep him from destroying Tokyo while "helpless people on subway trains scream bug-eyed as he looks in on them".

    Can't comment on the game since I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO WATCH THE GAME!!! All I can say is: 119 Games to go. On to Cleveland!!! Win or Lose... I sure wish that I could WATCH IT!!!

    I assume each entity will probably have their own personal motivations in this mess. Including the entity of me(us) as viewers. However... I have to assume that Diamond doesn't have the power to kill Comcast. The loss of a single network won't kill Comcast. A company in bankruptcy proceedings attacking Comcast in this fashion would be like charging a castle with one guy who is ramming the gate with a tree branch while 200 soldiers are above on the ramparts shooting arrows and pouring hot oil on him. Comcast's biggest issue is probably that the King in that Castle is 110 years old and so is everybody else. Baseball appears to be targeting Diamond in their complaints in the filing... not Comcast. What Diamond is thinking right now is beyond me.

    The payroll was being cut. Did the decision to cut payroll hurt the team directly? No way of knowing that since there is no guarantee that the player or players they could have spent money on would be getting the job done. I know that I was hoping that they could add an impact bat to the core of players coming back... but they didn't... they substracted one instead. That subtraction was replaced by multiple players... so in regards to the question... the only thing that I can currently work with directly is the payroll cut of Polanco and the reallocation of those Polanco dollars to the additions of DeSclafini, Topa, Santana and Margot. As of May 16 2024... Santana is performing on par with Polanco but the roster spot and money spent on Margot hasn't helped us that much and we could have been better off without him. So... I'm leaning toward... budget has hurt us thus far because of Margot. I'm betting when the season is done. The reallocation of those limited funds will be a negative for this year.

    I agree with you and many others that MLB lies in the bed they made. This train left the station years ago.

    I can't speak for MLB. My opinion isn't worth much. Just guessing that it would have to be the goal. Right now there are 12 teams suffering through this current mess. The Twins have a 1 year deal and some of those 12 teams have deals that extend well beyond this year. MLB has recently filed in bankruptcy court that the loss of comcast will be "insurmountable" for Diamond. They are using the court to try to get Diamond to reveal exactly how they can survive this and MLB doesn't believe they can. This leaves me to believe that they want off the sinking ship as quickly as possible. However... I was sleeping during law school so my opinion isn't worth much.

    Sentence 1 - Martin could play LF while Kirilloff plays 1B. Martin can play 3B if necessary. Sentence 2 - He hasn't really but the larger point is that we have some players on the roster who also don't deserve large amounts of playing time so we need someone who actually deserves it and can push those players who are struggling. If Martin isn't going to be utilized to push players who need pushing... he's a waste of a roster spot. So send him down yesterday. Buxton can't get here soon enough.

    I wish I could tell you that the team is just performing so well that Austin just can't get work because we are loaded beyond that consideration. While we are winning just fine... from an individual player performance standpoint... we have individuals who could yield some playing time. Kirilloff is slumping terribly at the moment, Miranda is just doing barely OK. Santana is playing every day! There is opportunity to work Martin in. They are not working him in. Buxton can't get here soon enough. The absolute commitment to the left/right split remains the playing time decision maker. Martin is simply on the short side of that thing.

    As long as anyone thinks of it as the bottom of the pen. It doesn't matter who you put in there because it isn't going to work anyway. There is nowhere to hide in the bullpen.

    Performance issues aside. Martin has 15 PA's since he was called back up 12 games ago. He needs to be in St. Paul immediately. Buxton returning should do the trick. After that... I'd be hesitant to call him up when the next injury strikes if 15 AB's in over 12 games is all that he is going to see.

    I'm not using any metrics but as far as I can tell without them... Castro's arm has to be better than a 2.
